    NSV!!!

    congratulations! nsv's are so great.
  3. my bmi was over 40. but i really started looking into the lapband because both of my knees are blown out. no cartilege. i have broken both of my ankles. my blood pressure was steadily climbing. my cholesterol was beginning to look bad also. i was also afraid of adult onset of diabetes. so my health issues were my first concern more than my bmi. i am glad i had it done. down 30+ pounds and feeling better everyday.
  4. i cook for my family lean and green. they eat it like i originally cook it but i have to smush mine a bit more. i am on stage four of post op food. i rarely cook bread or biscuits any more but still do on occasion. you child will get adjusted to the new still of eating and he will benefit from this healthier way of eating. Good Luck!

  6. Today, exactly one month ago i had the lapband surgery. i have been amazed at the change so far. i have been reading the previous post and i am also up to 1/2 - 3/4 cups food. per my dr plan i can eat deli slice meat. i am enjoying that for sure. i even got to enjoy my first piece of fish yesterday. it was so delicious. since my journey started in september with my first consultation i am down about thirty. i go back to the dr on the 7th for an official weigh in so i am just enjoying my clothes fitting different. i got on a digital scale at work and it says i am down to 267. that i am excited about. I also experienced my first stuck episode. i do not ever want to go back to that experience ever again. i got distracted while eating one evening and did not chew properly and oh boy! chuck that to experience to remember and not go back to. I hope everyone has a great day! and keep up the great work!

    Not feeling the love?

i am four weeks out and i am satisfied with everything that has happpened so far except for the stuck issue this morning (my fault completely) but have been pleasantly surprised how i have dealt with the issues and the amount of food i take in. i am satisfied and full and enjoy my food now. still losing weight. i just have not changed my ticker because i want the dr scale weight. i look forward to this journey and all that is in store for me.
  14. This morning at approx 3:45 am. i was woke up with a sharp pains through the middle of my back to the front and a cold sweat. first thing i thought of was slipping, then gas, then stuck. Everyone on here says you really cant explain the feeling and i now understand what they are talking about. i reviewed everything i had eaten. i ate late last night so about 8:30 i got to eat. I made the most moist turkey burgers with an apricot glaze. moist and fork tender. i took my small bites i waited almost an hour before i had a drink of anything. but about 6 hours later i was begging God to relieve me of this pain. i tried child birth breathing techniques, pacing, tums and prayer and nothing subsided this pain. i got online and searched on here for stuck episodes and i truly believe that is what happened. i think i did not chew a couple bites properly and i found out what stuck really was. i walked, sipped Water everything i could do help this pass. all i could think about was thinking how my horses have felt when they collic. they just roll on the ground and grunt in pain. At about 5:30 my alarm went off and everything had passed and i fell straight back to sleep and over slept for work. But as they say once you go through that you never forget it and i personally dont ever wish to go back. I dont exactly know why i wanted to share this. i normally encourage others accomplishments and cheer everyone on. but i have realized there is not anyone around me that know what i am talking about nor really cares. so if felt i needed to talk to someone or share this. cause i really dont feel good and i am going back to really mushy food for today. i realized last night i must have pushed the envelope a bit much. but i was hungry and it was so moist but i realized the purpose of the chew, chew, chew process loud and clear. I just hope this experience will help emphasize the importance of the ever pounding idea of chew chew chew. hope everyone has a great day!
  15. CONGRATULATIONS! What an awesome accomplishment! Keep up the great work!
  16. pbing is productive burping. you burb and more. i still have not gotten the full grasp of what sliming is. i dont think i want to experience either one really. Please excuse me if i answered inappropriately. i still dont understand alot of the lingo that goes with this procedure. but i am super cautious on my food so i dont ever experience something i should not. Good luck!

    Why am I so restricted

I was banded on the 21st. i have not fill as of yet in my band. however i dont necessarily feel full but i eat what i am instructed and that is it whether i am full or not. To me it is mind over matter. it takes time getting used to . you need to eat for your body to repair and heal. if you dont you have the risk of dehydrating and your body will go into a starvation mode and conserve what reserve you have and you will not loose weight. i am sure there is still swelling but how much i am not sure. right now i can eat what i want. but that would be defeating the purpose of going through all these food phases prior to surgery and since surgery. i had the hiccups for almost two weeks but i figured i was eating too fast. i slowed my eating down and they subsided. As far as a sore throat goes and a runny nose. right now i would think our immune system is a bit weak. we have changed our intake such you could be catching a cold. That is my biggest fear because i do not want to have to take liquid antibiotics (yuck). i still have pains in my tummy area too. but i asked my doctor about mine and he said it was the port because it was attached to the muscle wall. when i move it moves and until my muscles get used to the fact that something is attached i could have some sharp pinches in that area. I wish you luck on your journey! congratulation on being a December Bandster!
  18. CONGRATULATIONS! THAT IS FABULOUS AND AWESOME!:bananapowerslide:

    My addiction

we all have our addictions. This emotion hit me the night before surgery and i cried like a baby. I think everyone at one point or another gets hit with reality even as tough as it is. We have to face what has happened. However, you have taken a step to help yourself through this time. We did this for a better healthier life. No more achy joints. hopefully lower blood pressure, imporvement with diabetes and other health issues that improve along the way. We get a slimmer body to boot. What a great trade. The food phases we go through after surgery are kind of yucky and they get really boring fast. but this is only temporary. Your nutritionist is going to be your best friend in helping you succeed. Some people have to measure to control portions some poeple weigh their food. you will eventually find a system that works for you and helps you fight the addiction you are facing. Good Luck and Congratulations on your surgery!

    How Does the Pouch Work?

The nutritionist at the dr office i go to says that you eat your protein first. that is the heavier of all the foods and will take longer to digest and pass. then you eat veggies and then starch. Now this is talking after you have gone to regular food. the protein is what is to sustain you. so they say (and I speak on just conversations with the nutritionist) if you are hungry any sooner than that it is a sign of needing another adjustment. I have not had an adjustment yet. but even without a fill in the band i have i have to eat every 4 hours. i try to make sure whatever i eat is protein enriched. it does help but my eating schedules are so far apart i am having to have a snack of some sort in the afternoon. my nutritionist says not to get into a habit of that but it has been difficult. between lunch and supper it could be up to 8 hours before i am able to eat again. definitely speak with your nutritionist to make sure you are getting enough protein and vitamins in your system. i have found also if i take my recommended vitamins and calcium i am not as hungry also. this weekend i forgot to get my vits in and i was starving. the next day i took them and i was a lot better able to stick with plan better. Good Luck on your journey. We can only take this one day at a time!

    HUNGRY!!

and walk walk walk! Add your protein as soon as you can. you will not feel so hungry and your body will heal faster! Good Luck! and Congratulations!

    1/2 cup of food

you were speaking of a pizza. i had a craving for pizza too. but i learned a recipe years ago from the Frugal Gourmet. I made it the other day and my family ate it like no tomorrow. i used beans for the base. it does add starch but also adds protein. put beans as a base. then tomato or pizza sauce cheese and what toppings you want. i took turkey bacon, left over chicken, some chopped ham and added mozz cheese and cheddar cheese. bake till bubbly cause everything was already cooked. i am still on the soft food stage so i had to blend mine down a bit but it was an awesome treat. i got me a regular serving so my boys would not eat it all and halfed it and put the rest in a container for lunch the next day. recipe calls for pinto beans as the base but any bean can be used. i actually used left over black eyed peas from new years. Good luck. i am doing all i can to add variety so i can eat something close to or similar to the family.

    1/2 cup of food

that would cause be a bit of difficulty also. i am almost three weeks post op still on soft food and am just now able to get to a 1/2 cup. I was thinking about a salad also. i dont know if i could digest the lettuce yet. so i told my husband if and when we start going out to dinner again i will have a high protein salad. (no lettuce) i know i did not help but a great question to think on and search for an alternative.
