i used the tylenol Liquid Blast for adults. Did not like the cherry flavor but it really helped me. i would recommend it. Good Luck!

    Eating it all b4 surgery!

I think all of the post op people went through the phases of the "last supper sydrome". A friend of mine at work kept saying that to me and at one point really upset me. What i kept telling myself was that i would have to modify my eating. it would not be the last time i ate a cheese burger but i may have to eat it differently. I began looking at my favorite foods and trying to find different ways to prepare them in a healthier way so i will be able to eat them too. If during my mushy food stage i wanted something the fam was eating. I usually just added some chicken broth and pureed it with my mixing wand. May not have looked as apetizing but tasted the same and i felt more comfortable sitting at the table with my family and enjoying dinner with them. I even started planning my menu for my soft food stage and even my favorite Desserts too. So it is not the last time you will eat your favorite food. you will just have to modify it. Good Luck on you Journey!
  3. during my preop stage. i upped my protein but i added the supplement to my food broth or clear soups. I did not drink the shake, to thick and sweet for me. I did this to help promote faster healing. i was on a clear liquid preop for 5-6 days prior to surgery. So the added protein mixed with my broth satisified more than just regular broth. Now when surgery came around i began putting protein in everything i drank to help the speed up healing and satisify my hunger again during my two week post op liquid phase. I still supplement my eating with a protein milk (FF milk, protein powder, sweetner and vanilla). I drink this first thing in the morning. This boosts my protein and allows me to eat good portions of protein on my own. If I calculate from journalling i still have not had enough protein i will have another protein milk in the evening. Definitely speak with your nutritionist about adding protein. I supplement with protein powder but still do not rely on it as my main source of protein. You have to begin searching for protein rich foods, meat, spinach, legumes, some like tofu. Congratulation on your upcoming Journey! it is one i will be eternally greatful that i did! Changed my life. Good Luck and God Bless!
  4. i completely agree. my husband and i have had numerous conversations. i too have been very vocal. i explained to him. i dont have food to fall back on now. i used to smoke so i could go outside take a smoke and cool down. i used to drink and sip a glass of wine and think things through. but food was the main comfort food to drowned all the sorrows in. So we voice out. our loved ones are not used to this either. but it is a shock to us and them. you are right they do not prepare you for that during the pre-op stage. I too am in therapy to help with this adjustment stage and my husband is too. I will keep you in prayer and hope all goes well. But you are definitely not alone. Good Luck and God Bless!

  7. i am a sweet nut. so my sweets are what i miss. i do find alternatives to give me the sweet taste. my big thing is when i get a really bad craving i get me a glass of FF milk and mix my Protein with two sweet n lows and a dash of vanilla. Sweet smooth and filling. i was telling someone the other day. I gave up smoking almost 10 years ago. i gave up cokes (caffeine) about 6 years ago. now since the lap band i can not fall back on food for comfort. So what do i do when i stress. Food was such a huge part of my life and now it is not. Good luck to everyone!
  8. Everyone seems to be doing really well. I am 2 lbs away from the 240's and 2 lbs away from being down 50 lbs since pre-op. i have enjoyed this journey. I pray my will power holds up better. i am getting hungrier but i still do not get hungry between meals. i have not had a fill yet so i am having to watch. So i wish everyone continued luck!

  11. i was banded about 2 months ago. i have not had a fill yet. I have progressively been losing weight. but i will say when i sit down to eat i eat a bit more than i have been. but my sweet tooth cravings have become stronger. i have decided not to deny myself i little bit of sweet because if i do i will binge. But what do others do to help curb your cravings either sweets or carbs. Just needing a bit of advice.

  22. I am 4 weeks post op. i am eating soft foods. however i am trying to get off my Protein powder. i tried it for a day but my food consumption is still not enough to meet my minimum Protein gram requirement. so i feel like i will not be able to get off my protein supplement. my issue is the protein is causing me urological issues. i dont have kidney stones however, i feel like the beginnings of a kidney infection because of the protein concentration. (i hope that makes since. irratation & burning.) What suggestions do you have? I am flooding my body with Water and i feel like i am going to float away.

    NSV

I have a non scale victory i wish to share. I am super big into our local Scouting Organization. I am a Cub Master and an Asst Scout Master. I have had to buy a 3x shirt to wear and was not able to button the shirt completely and would have to pull it over my hips just to get it to button half way decent. I normally wore and over shirt to hide too. Well last night my Asst Cub master came to me and asked me how much i have lost. i said total between 35 - 40 pounds. he said it was showing because he had told his wife the night before after our boyscout meeting that he saw me with my shirt completely buttoned and was covering my hips. (i did not have it tucked in because we were putting up tents doing a check.) I was shocked because i also realized at the point he was right. Normally my shirt would be have the last button unbuttoned and would be sitting on top of my posterior because it would not lay down flat outside or inside my pants. We may at times never see reflections in the scale as far a weight dropping but our bodies are changing. the things we never would realize anyone would pay attention to people notice and that really makes us feel good. Good luck to everyone! I hope everyone has a NSV today!

    NSV

My weight is slowly coming down also. and that is a good thing. that means it will stay off permanently. i really like the NSV more than the scale. You can actually see the difference instead of depending on a number. I hope everyone continues to look up!
