    NSV!

i got back on a horse! my biggest ride was last weekend for our Relay for Life Team at church. i had riding some to get ready but my husband and i rode about 8 miles and i was so sore i could barely walk for 4 days. But the day was beautiful and i enjoyed myself so much. But before i had quit riding i have not been on a horse for about 4 years because of my weight. Feels good. looking forward to more "new" activities again!

8 Days Post Op ... Advice

the mushie stage for me was a really pureed egg salad. easy to digest and Protein. but my all time favorite food was refried Beans with a can of rotel with a little cheese. now during the mushie stage i went more pureed. i took my wand mixer and blended it more. it was the best. i wanted more taste and since it was cold outside when i was banded Soups were plentiful at my house. i made taco soup and pureed it down also. Good luck!
  8. i experience that also. i think it is the protein. my breath did not smell like this prior to this surgery and me drinking my protein.

    regret city....what have i done?

i did my crying and break down prior to surgery. I dont know if any one else was like this but food was my comfort friend i could go to and not get criticized or cut down. i depended on food to make me feel better. So in a sense when we are that dependent on it we grieve for what we are limited to. Shock is the keep. but please keep in mind every doctors rules and everyone's body is different. my doctor said i could have starch but as everyone has said i was to have it in moderation. So i do enjoy some pasta or a part of a biscuit from time to time. We just learn new ways to enjoy our food. And sometimes we learn that we really dont need that afterall. Good luck on your new journey and look up for a positive view.
  10. i would mix my Protein powder like you would for cornstarch. use warm Water to liquify the protein then add to the broth. that way it does not clump. I used my protein in everything. broth, juice or milk. with milk is my favorite. i mix protein with ff milk, two sweet n lows and a dash of vanilla. not think and takes care of my sweet tooth at the same time. Good luck. finding a good Protein Powder you like is hard. Good luck on your search!

    God bless this forum

I felt the same way after my surgery. I was on this site everyday for about 2 months prior to surgery and i was so reassured. It went almost as everyone has said. my recovery was much smoother and less panicky because of what i learned here. thanks! and Kuddos to everyone because we have all worked together to help one another i think! God Bless!
  12. also depending on how different doctors. Some require you to go carb free prior to surgery. I could be withdrawals. Some may think this is a bit odd. but if you go without things your body is used to having you will do funny things. i had headaches for two weeks giving up my Coca Cola, caffeine and my smokes. I too had pain at the base of my skull right after surgery. i kept massaging and rubbing and stretching. It was not fun! I pray for you continued recovery! It gets better one day at a time!

  14. I got a cool NSV to share. first today is my birthday. I made an outfit for Easter and cut the pants by a 22 size pattern and i could not wear them. But today is my birthday and i was going through my closet lookinf for something to wear and that would fit. A friend of mine gave me some clothes and a pair of jeans that a couple of weeks ago i could not wear. today i put them on and i can wear them comfortably and they look nice and not too tight!:bananajump: the tag says they are size 20! woo hoo! I told my husband i could care less if i got anything for my birthday just fitting into a smaller pair of jeans was birthday gift enough! Everyone have a great and awesome day!

    still weak after 5 weeks.

I hope you are getting sufficient protein and taking your vitamins. That helped me so much. I was pouring my protein in my body to help me heal and was freakish about my vits for b12 and iron. I hope and pray you feel better soon!

    Surgery 4-28, Camping 4-29

i have to agree. I would not go camping. Your body is still in a sort of shock. I completely understand the Cross over ceremony. I have watched my two boys Cross Over too. I broke my ankle a week before one of my son's Cross over Ceremony. So i had to have assistance being in a cast and being so big (prior to lapband). Maybe you can have someone drive you to the ceremony and stay for that but as far as camping and instructing a cooking demonstration for the guys will be difficult. Good Luck and God Bless! 18. So far the only thing i can't control is my own will power. i do great during the week. i have controlled meals. calories, fat and carbs are monitored. but when i am home on the weekends. i eat like no holds bar. i just can't seem to control myself at times. I am not gaining but i am not losing the maximum which i should. i have a terrible sweet tooth and i like to have treats too. i think this has been my only problem and it is not going to solve itself. i know this is my problem from the very beginning. i am a grazer and could snack all day if allowed. I dont think i could be beaten up any more than i beat myself up. i just think the bad part is I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING WRONG AND CAN NOT STOP IT. Frustrated with myself in so many ways. I mean I am not blowing it by eating a whole cheesecake but it would not be good for it to b in my house right now. I am going to have to type me a nono list and stick to it. i have good satietion. i dont get hungry between meals. i eat small. but when there is something extra in the house it is not good. I have to pray for stronger will power. I know there are others out there that struggle with the same issues. I have just got to stick to my guns and not keep following the same cycle over and over again.

    Will power

melody you are so correct. i am not addicted to food just a carby. As long as it is not in the house i am good. out of site out of mind. but if my husband brings it in or the kids bring something in i have a hard time. That is when i struggle with my willpower. I greatly appreciate the encouragement and advice and tips for helping! I pray all have a great day!

    Will power

Thank you much! you are so right. it is like an addict. i was talking to someone the other day. i have been smoke free for over 10 years but could smoke one the size of manhattan if available. But my family does not want to sacrifice as i have chosen too. i have to control myself more at home. Prayers. Prayers . Prayers! thank you so much for the pep talk! i know it gets better. then mind game never ends i guess. Thanks again!
  23. i did not cheat during my early stages post op. I was scared like Heather said. i was pouring my Protein Powder into my milk so i was satisified. but boy the thirst time i was able to eat Soup or mushed food. There was no stopping. but after 2 tbsp i was full. it was really sad. but i was happy and my boys ate my left overs. it was really funny around my house for awhile. good luck and do your best to stay on track.
  24. That sounds delicious! I will have to try the tip. never thought of freezing in muffin tins before.
  25. when my doctor told me Soup. i made the biggest pot of taco soup and blended it to death. it was the best thing i have every eaten. yummo! i pureed everything. during this stage. Good luck in satisfying your taste buds. be creative and cautious at the same time. you dont want to blow the progress you have started but we need flavor and variety to stay in this game! Good luck again!
