    March 2007 Bandsters

I am getting banded on March 15th and have all the same feelings. Should I....shouldn't I?? It can get very frustrating. But, I know deep down inside this is the right decision for me. I have eaten all the "good stuff" the first 40 years so now I have to eat what I should have the next 40. Its just my way of looking at it. Any food ideas we could share with each other would be helpful. I am starting to make lists of food that I can and cannot eat. Delicious recipes that you would like to share would be wonderful. Good luck everyone!!!:clap2:
  2. So many questions going through my mind. I'm still waiting for the insurance company to approve me so I don't have a surgery date. The waiting is hard. I have my mind made up about what I have to do after surgery, ie, liquids, mushies. I'm ok with that. My questions are about losing. I'm having this surgery to help me lose weight but I have read so many posts where people are not losing weight. I'm not worried about the surgery just if it will do what it is supposed to do for me. I have emailed some people who don't lose after their surgery or lose very slowly. Is this normal? :help: I would think when you are eating such small portions that you would lose. I'm having this surgery to help me lose. Oh, I'm so frustrated.:phanvan Any help would be so much appreciated. Thank you
  3. Is what you say true?? No more pop? Is that because the pouch is too small? Is it ok to have sips once in a while. I don't drink pop very often but to say I can NEVER have it again..... But, it will be worth it!!! Is there anything else? What about caffeine? I heard someone say you can't have that? What is the reason. Thanks for your advice.

    Help!!

That is one of the questions I asked my doctor if I could chew gum. He said absolutely not because if it does get stuck then it is a real mess to try and fish it out. I would suggest not chewing gum anymore. :rolleyes
  5. I have seen alot about a pre op diet? Could someone fill me in on that? I go for my consult this next week......I have so many questions.

I am not yet banded but have my consult with my doc next week. What is this about the preop diet? Can you please give me more info on this?

    What to eat....

My doctor said that after surgery you have liquids for 3 weeks and then on mashed...no solids until after the 6 weeks. What are some of the foods, juices, etc, you can recommend. Is their a site for recipes? I'm thinking alot of diet shakes, juice, broth, etc. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you :hungry:

I have my consult on December 20th so I am just starting. I have found out that my insurance will pay 80% if they find that the surgery is medically necessary. How are you doing? Any advice you can give me? How much have you lost? What have been your struggles? What kind of exercising have you been doing? Thank you.
  10. I am new th lapbandtalk. I am considering lap band. I have my consultation in a few weeks. I am worried about the food like most people that I have read about. I'm also a worry wart, emotional eater, and just plain scared. I'm afraid that once I get the band it won't be right for me or I will miss the food that I love so much (which brings me to why I have to consider a band in the first place). Do you ever not think about the food you used to be able to eat? I hate the fact that food rules my life right now and I don't want to do that anymore. I just want to start living!!!!! Can anyone give me some good helpful advice, please? Maybe some good websites to look at. Anything is most appreciated. Thank You :help:

I went to my orientation with Dr Neal and have my consult with him this month. I was very impressed with him and his staff. How are you doing since your surgery? I am trying to get as much information as possible. Thank You

    To do or not to....

Thank you all for your wonderful advice. Has anyone ever felt like they made a mistake and wanted the band taken off? How do you handle big holidays with all of the food? desserts? Am I worrying for nothing about these things? When were you able to start exercising? and what kind of exercising did you do? Thank you. Ohiobluegal
