I have been overweight my whole adult life. I have tried everything. But when both of my parents were diagnosed with heart disease and diabetes, that opened my eyes to do something. Then both of my parents had open heart surgery. My dad before he was 50 and my mom before she was 40. At about this same time I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. I was about 30. I had some family problems and got divorced from my first wife. About a year later I met the most wonderful woman in the world and she became my wife. She gained some weight and began to have issues and began talking to people at our church about things to do. She and both went to a Lap-Band seminar and learned alot. We also learned that my insurance would pay for this surgery. She had it done in June and is having wonderful results. So i decided to have one. My doctor says he can get me off my blood pressure medicine within six months. (GREAT!!) He also says that he can't guarantee that I won't have a heart attack or stroke because of my family history. But he did say that it if it happened it would be in my later years, 70 - 80 instead of 40 - 50 like my parents. I hope my story will inspire others.
