I am looking for help in my weight loss. I have been heavy all of my life but not to the extent I am today. I am 58 and have returned to the university to finish my degree. I do not look 58 so that should help in finding a job in my field, social work. But because of the younger applicants, I need all the help I can get. Weight loss is the biggest aid I believe. From December of 2009 to May of 2010 I have lost 46 pounds. I have hit a wall where I have not lost anymore. I have gained some, 10 pounds, and cannot seem to get past this. I go up and down. I am ready to finish the course. I have been in contact with a friend at work who has lost 75 pounds and has done well. She said as long as you stay as close to a healthy diet you can do it. That is easy as my husband had a high cholesterol of over 300 and he was on a cholesterol pill. He is not heavy. We did the South Beach diet for one year. I bet him that his cholesterol would drop clear down if he would go on it for one year. He took up the bet and a year later his bad cholesterol was down to 175 and both of our good cholesterols were raised. We ate fish three times a week. I want to lose 175 pounds approximately and my family doctor wants to aim at 125 since I am older and he feels it will be better should I suffer from a debilitating disease as I get older. Plus that would be the weight I was when I was 20. I have rheumatoid also and this will help in eliminating its destruction of my joints. It cannot be cured but its advancement can be stopped and weight and a more active life will help. I am wanting to know if anyone who has had this done for for a period of time if there have been any negative problems, regrets, etc.?
