Thank you everyone and yes I have walked around all day with this silly grin on my face. It is definitely an awesome feeling. I know I will always have to watch it and yes I will continue to test also doing my A1C check. It is a small price to pay though. Peace and Blessings everyone. -

1sunnuri replied to ashleio84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know the feeling about smoking. What has helped me is the website whyquit.com. its free and very informative. When u feel the need to smoke just go to the site and read some of the testimonials. I hope this helps. Im stuggling with you. Just take it one day at a time. -

TED Talk - Insulin Resistance and Obesity
1sunnuri replied to deedadumble's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I watched this on TED the other night. It help confirm everything I had always thought. I personally believe insulin resistance is genetic as well. I also have diabetes type II, PCOS and of course the insulin resistance. My daughter was born with a low sodium deficiency but now is fine. BUT I believe it is and will cause problems as she ages. Here are some things I think are early signs of PCOS, Insulin Resistance and the dreaded Diabetes. Early development, as young as age 8 starting menstrual cycle, an unusual large appetite for carbs, depression and again the ability to gain weight even when active. I have always firmly believed that the closer we eat to organic and real not processed we would definitely be healthier. I think our environment plays a huge roll in our obesity as well. It breeds the insulin resistance like wildfire. I have found that it costs a lot more to eat high protein low carb. Also with our life styles. -
Thank goodness u have done it when they are so small then. Its an awesome commitment to do for yourself and them. Inspiring most definitely!

It is good to know someone else has gone thru these tough decisions and come out the better for it. its just crazy how much of this is head work so to speak...lol. I have a 16yr old who is struggling with her weight and it kills me. I know she has gotten her issues with food from me. I want to do this for me but also for her. If I can at fifty turn my life around with a little help (sleeve). Then maybe she can make some life long changes as well. Obesity affects those we love as well as ourselves.

1sunnuri replied to KickRocks's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hello all I am scheduled for August 13th trying to get that changed to the 12th. I am really nervous which I am sure most people are. Oh my surgery is with dr. Illan. -
currysusan123, I do not live far from Monroe and I was wondering what Dr. you used. Was it Dr. Sartor or Dr. Daryl Marx I have heard they were both great surgeons. Please tell me about your experience. I am a self pay and would like to be close to home for the surgery. I know in Little Rock I was quoted around 16,000 for the band but after much research I have decided to go with the VSG instead. Thanks Michelle

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
1sunnuri replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hello all, I am considering using Dr. Kirshenbaum for the LB because I am a self pay and a single parent which means money is tight. I live in Arkansas and was wondering if anyone knew of a Doctor here who would do followup care and fills? I have checked into doing the LB here but the cost is 16,000 but with 18 months follow ups. Does anyone know on average what a follow up consists of? Thanks for any and all information.
