Hi Anna.
Yes, it does seem to be a very strict diet compared to other posts. Thanks for caring about my hunger. Like you, I also do not drink enough water each day. I am supposed to drink 6-8 glasses per day and I only drink about half that amount, usually with tea or coffee. I cannot seem to make myself drink more fluids when I have all these CIB shakes.
Tomorrow is exciting for me because I go for my pre-op visit at New York Hospital. I'll have blood work, an EKG and a chest x-ray done. I'll meet my anesthesiologist. I'll hand in my nutrition quiz which I had to complete. They'll probably go over the quiz and what is to be expected of me both pre-op and post-op. I'll let you know how it goes. This may take much of tomorrow. Just getting into NYC and parking takes about 1 hour each way.
Also keep me posted on your pre-op and post-op journey. We seem to have similar experiences although you get to eat more yummy food. ):

Hi Anna.
That is so cool that you are also scheduled to be banded on 9/17, the same day as me!
Yes, I've started my pre-op diet but NYU is very strict with their diet. You had a few choices for low calorie protein shakes but I chose the Carnation Instant Breakfast (CIB). However, with this diet I only get 5 to 6 CIB shakes per day. Boy, are these shakes getting tiresome. I can also have up to 2 cups of certain veggies like lettuce, spinach, cucumber, onion, tomato, broccoli. cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms, zucchini, string beans, okra, cabbage, asparagus, brussels sprouts, and peppers. I cannot have any corn, peas, potatoes or beans. And no fruit is permitted.
I can also have sugar free (10 calorie) jello and sugar free ice pops. I'm supposed to have 6-8 oz of water/day but haven't been able to drink that much.
My stomach growls all the time and CIB shakes have made me very gassy. This has not been easy for me so far.
