    Menstral cycle

I seem to only gain 1/2 to 1 pound during this time. (I drink Water like mad during TOM) Could account as to why I don't gain so much weight. I don't notice much of a change in how much I eat. My weight doesn't move at all during this time. Maybe drinking all of the water keeps me kind of in balance. Right before TOM I lose 3-5 pounds. Then it isn't until the end when the scale starts to move again. Deb

    Employers and Surgery

I took two weeks. The HR staff where I work suggested FMLA. Which is great in case I needed more time off. Thankfully I didn't. I returned full time no restrictions. ( I have a sedentary job.) Deb

    Bra size

I recently discovered that I needed some new bras. So off to the store I went. I was a bit shocked to discover that I have went from a 38G to a 36DDD. That is amazing. I didn't think I had really lost that much in that area. But hey I'll take it. Deb
  7. I have UHC and I received my approval in under 3 hours from the time it was faxed to my case worker. Your case worker, if assigned would be the one to determine either approved or denied. Mine was amazing! She was wonderful. Good luck!! Deb

Friends told me to slow down :(

First of all CONGRATS on the walking!!!!!! That is great!!!! I remember when I parked as close as I could anywhere I went, due to the fact I was completly out of breath by the time I reached the enterence. Now I park where ever. As far as the well meaning people, that is what they are, "well meaning" and they do have your best intrest at heart. However YOU know how YOU feel after your walks. If it seems to beome too much you will slow down. I had some "well meaning" people at work trying to give me advice on how much weight I should be losing. LOL.... I just smiled and went about my business. Again this is all about YOU, and not anyone else. Again Congrats!!!!!!! Keep us posted!!!! Deb
  9. I had asked the same question. I am not that far out from surgery. The difference is as leeblewb stated a lot of women are much younger on here. I'm 46, starting weight 233 5,1 my bmi was 43-44. I am seeing an average monthly loss of 8-10 pounds give or take. I am hoping to be at my goal before end of October or damn near close. I too do low carb. No white carbs what so ever. Exercise 3-4 times a week. Everyone is different on the loss that they experience. Adhearence and following your surgeons guidelines is key. Good Luck!!!!! Keep us updated. Deb
  10. I'm not too sure what to think about what a co-worker told me. Where I work the are over 300 employees. The insurance company held a workshop for WLS with a nurse that gave the information on the different types of surgeries. I was confused by what she was told by the nurse. That the Mini Gastric Bypass procedure is the same as a VSG????? I'm a little bit upset that a medical professional (Nurse) would say that. Now correct me if I'm wrong, the two procedures are not the same and shouldn't be considered that they are. I felt as if the employees that attended that workshop walked away so misinformed. I know that the insurance company will and does not cover nor does it acknowledge MGB surgery. Maybe the nurse was not a Bariatric Nurse. But that co-worker is thinking that the two procedures are one in the same. I just wish I would've went with my nice 8x10 picture of my sleeve to show it isn't anything like a bypass. I just hope the ones considering surgery do research their choice of WLS. So that they can make a more informative decision and not take what they were told at face value. Deb

    Not sure what to think......

Hi Tijuana, Thats the point exactly. Not sure why that procedure was even brought up. I am so sure that the insurance company has no idea that was even discussed. Just pissed that my fellow co-workers were sadly mis-informed. Deb
  14. I have an appointment with my PCP next Friday. I Haven't seen her since February. It may be a shock to her when she sees me. When we discussed WLS last year she had never heard of VSG. So I gave her the info from my surgeons seminar. She thumbed through it and said okay let's get started. She is in for a surprise. I hope I can shed a few more pounds before next Friday. I'm excited to have a doctors appointment for a change. Lol. Deb

What Bougie did your Dr. Use?

My surgeon used a 40 fr bougie over sewn. Very happy, great restriction. Only able to eat 2-3 ounces at a time. No complaints at all. Deb
  16. I had this procedure 10 plus years ago....(Since I have lost 53 pounds, my hour glass figure is starting to re-emerge ) Deb Circumferential abdominoplasty An circumferential abdominoplasty is an extended abdominoplasty plus a buttock lift. The resulting scar runs all the way around the body, and the operation is also called a Belt Lipectomy or Body Lift. This operation is most appropriate for patients who have undergone massive weight loss.

    Insurance Companies DO cover plastics

Yes thank you for sharing. I just looked at what UHC states in the "Procedures Covered" It states that "Reconstructive" surgery is covered. I will be seeing my PCP on 7/15 and will start documenting that the excess skin is causing pulling and how painful it is. Below is what my policy states. I will be calling with some CPT codes to get clarification. I have found that 2 plastic surgeons in my area are on my "In Network" list. If anyone has UHC and has any addtional info please do share. If I find anything out I will share as well. Deb Reconstructive Procedures Same as ● Physician's Office Services ● Professional Fees ● Hospital-Inpatient Stay ● Outpatient Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services ● Prosthetic Devices You can contact Care Coordination at the telephone number on your ID card for more information about Benefits for mastectomy related services. The following services are not covered: ● Cosmetic Procedures. Examples include: ● Pharmacological regimens, nutritional procedures or treatments. ● Scar or tattoo removal or revision procedures (such as salabrasion, chemosurgery and other skin abrasion procedures). ● Skin abrasion procedures performed as a treatment for acne. ● Replacement of an existing breast implant if the earlier breast implant was performed as a Cosmetic Procedure. NOTE: Replacement of an existing breast implant is considered reconstructive if the initial breast implant followed mastectomy. ● Physical conditioning programs such as athletic training, bodybuilding, exercise, fitness, flexibility, and diversion or general motivation. ● Weight loss programs whether or not they are under medical supervision. Labor Day - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

I want to now drop another 20 or 30 by Labor Day. Not sure if that will be an obtainable goal for me right now. I am working so much overtime right now , that going to the gym is next to impossible. Touching the bow flex and free weights here at home isn't happening either. I don't want to set myself up for failure right now. I am so tired by the time I get home that I have just enough time to shower and grab a little dinner then it's off to bed. If anything needs my attention, well it just sits until I get time. I'm on the fence if I want to start working on my next goal. If things slow down at work I will. I truely want to be at goal by the time I see my surgeon again in late October. We will see what happens. I'm going to stay positive and focused. Deb SN.......................Starting Wt...............Current.................Goal.......................Lbs to Goal Ldydrgnkpr 233 180 ? undecided? ?undecided?

4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

Okay, okay. I was so totally caught up with the festivities yesterday that I forgot to post. I MADE GOAL. Yay!!!!! Sex After Surgery?

Doctor said when I felt up to it. (That would've been day 10 ) Hubby said my libido is at an all time high. Little does he know it will get a lot higher. LOL..... Deb

  24. All you can do is research and trust in your Surgeon's decision and choice that he/she will be using for your surgery. My surgeon used a 40 fr bougie on me. I am very happy with what I have lost so far. Yes I asked why so big? His reply was the difference between a 36 and 40 was just mm. That he felt it would benefit my loss. I trusted his decision in this choice for me. He did over sew the staple line. Which made the 40 a 38. ( In my mind anyway LOL) This journey is what you put into it will be what you get out of it. I give it everything I got everyday. I understand that the potential for re-gain is with all wls not just with the sleeve. I know that this is a lifetime change not just for the moment. The changes we make are for the long run. I live to be stronger, healthier and wiser for the choices I make everyday. Good luck with your journey. Deb
  25. Woke up Sunday just like any other day. Felt fine a little tired. (been working a lot of overtime) so sent hubby off to work. Began the ritual of cleaning, out of no where came this evil woman. I have never acted like that. I knew this time was coming, i just wasn't expecting anything like that. What intensified this day was the end of TOM. Oh boy I was so horrible to my husband on the phone he didn't have a clue. I so apologized to him. He laughed and said he now knows what to be on the look out for. He had no idea what came over me. He honestly thought I went over the edge. (straight jacket stuff) Way too much estrogen here. Hope next month isn't as bad. Deb
