My Plastics Journey - My first one (of several)
ldydrgnkpr replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Looking good Irene!!!! I know its still early for me to be thinking plastics, however I'm going to be discussing with my PCP how my boobs hurt because they are a drooping and pulling. Getting documentation will be helpful when submitting to insurance. My insurance will cover if submitted as reconstructive. You really look amazing!!!! Congrats on getting it done!!!!! Deb -
Clarify I count total. That is what works for me. I don't have the time to pick it apart. Charting total is what I do. Not everyone will see eye to eye on this. So to say one is better than the other just is a matter of opinion.

Total carbs. A carb is a carb. Net or other wise. Deb

I do not eat potatoes, rice, bread, Pasta. Period. I enjoy my green vegetables very much. I have to say that I do not miss the potatoes, rice, bread, pasta. I use to crave the hell out of those pre surgery. Today, the smell is a turn off. I Do eat a lot of fish and chicken and green Beans, brussel sprouts and cabbage, any green vegetable. I do eat fruit, melons are my favorite. I'm not bashing anyone just because their preference is different, just that I prefer low carb, as it is what works for me. Not everyone is the same. Some need more carbs than others. I keep mine under 30. If what you are eating is working for you then stick to it. Deb

I was sleeved on 3/7/2011. My first two weeks the weight melted like butter. Lost 20 pounds. Need to lose a total of 115 pounds. Now I have since returned to work. (3/21/2011) I walk 45 minutes a day, my job is a desk job. UGH! I have lost 2 pounds since returning to work. I also have started light resistance training every other day. Nothing strenous. I do get my fluids in and do get my Protein in. Would this be considered normal or am I doing something wrong. I manage to get in at least 450 - 500 calories carbs are close to 20 a day. I'm limited on food as I'm on the full liquid diet until April 7. From there I can begin fish, chicken. Will that make a difference on the weight loss? Getting protein from food rather than liquid does that have a bigger impact on the way we lose? I did not recieve any information on what my diet should be during this stage. Just a list of what is allowed on the full liquid diet. I have been adhearing to that. I have tweaked it by adding more protein and Water. Unflavored unjury to regular chobani and to cottage cheese. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. I don't know if I have reached a leveling off point, not really a stall. More like okay we are going to slow this down a bit. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Deb.

How are the Florida sleevers doing????
ldydrgnkpr replied to ldydrgnkpr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Choripan!!!!! And Welcome!!!!! I was sleeved 3/7/2011 and I'm very happy with my decision to have WLS. I would do it again in a New York minute. I will admit that I wish the weight would have came off quicker, But I cannot complain with what I have lost so far. It has been a huge learning experience with what works and what does not. Stalls can will happen. Just learning to change up the routine a bit is what works.(for me anyway) I don't have that much more to lose I am doing my best to work it off with in the next few months. I want to be a goal before the holidays. So I am pushing myself to keep on losing. Knock wood I have not had any issues at all. Post op for me was a very easy recovery. I went back to work two weeks. My surgeon made me wait until my staples came out. I could've went back sooner. Wish I would have. Not everyone will experience the same thing. Nor will the weight loss be the same. Some make goal in six months some in ten others in eighteen. Good luck with your decision and your journey!!!!!! Deb -

Hi Eddie! Welcome!!! I'm not a revision but I'm several months out and I have lost 63 pounds. I believe the sleeve is by far the best decision I have ever made. I Hope your revision journey is a smooth one. Keep us posted. Deb -

For the past month I have been weeding through my closet. I have found some old clothes that I can now wear to work. My can wear pile is way smaller than the can't wear pile. My size has went from a 16 to a 14 (I'm guessing) in about five weeks. The 16's are baggy in the butt and waist. So I'm going shopping. My vacation starts Sept. 1 and will be heading to the beach so need some cute capris and tanks. Love that feeling. Deb

My hairloss over a month ago was bad. Now not so bad. I take 5000 mg of Biotin and 50 mg of zinc on top of my multi and I use Nutri-Ox shampoo and conditioner. The loss seems not as much now. I will continue using for awhile. Deb

How VSG changed your tastes!
ldydrgnkpr replied to myrori's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anything being fried, the smell makes me gag!!!!! So that has cured my desire for fried foods. (LOL) As for taste that would be sf pudding. It seems the salt that is replacing the sugar is so over powering I can't even eat a spoonful. I have switched to sf jello. No issues there. Deb -
Post-Op Broken Tastebuds?
ldydrgnkpr replied to CaliforniaJenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through that to. I still find certain things taste different or weird. I still can't eat SF pudding as it tastes too salty to me. My surgeon said that is to be expected. Also food that I once enjoyed I would probaly find horrible. (which I do) So its just a learning curve. Finding food that you can eat and tolerate. Deb -
I really didn't notice this until I was dressed and getting ready to leave for work. I was standing in front of my mirror. I just happen to look down and realized my thighs no longer touch!!!!! I actually have a space between them!!! So amazing!!! I am getting a lot of compliments at work. I'm now getting called skinny. LOL. That gets me everytime. I always respond, "almost". This is truely the best thing I could have done for my health. (just thought I'd share) Deb
