Today I had my annual visit with primary for physical. We discussed plastics and she documented the fact that my "bat wings" pull and it is painful. As for my boobs, she documented that I have back pain and the excess skin pulls and is very painful. There is a rash developing. So this is a good start. She is in favor of the plastics. She was impressed that I lost 9 pounds in a month. I go back to see my surgeon next month. I'm hopeful that I will be at least halfway to goal by then. (Fingers crossed) Deb

Potential Side Effects list
ldydrgnkpr replied to Mr-Smith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My labs after 6 months came back excellent. (PCP ordered labs for her record) As for being cold, I was a cold fat girl now I'm a cold (medium?) girl. Stricture, no. No ill side effects as far as I can tell. I feel GREAT! food tolerence issues- I do find I can not tolerate sweets. So to me that is a plus. I have no issues with any OTC pain meds. I sleep better now than I did 8 months ago. I will see my surgeon in October so we will see what he thinks. Deb -

How bad is the hair loss??
ldydrgnkpr replied to NewLife2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had MASSIVE hair loss @ the 3-4 month mark. I do take 5000 mg of Biotin twice daily. My hairloss has went from uber hand fulls to just barely enough to cover the drain in the shower. I do have acrlyic nails and my nail tech has noticed that my nails under the acrylics has grown faster in the two week time frame that I go to see her. I also use Nutri-Ox shampoo and conditioner every other day. Do not know if my hair is now out of the "resting phase" or not. I do see new growth all over but mainly at my temples. I am not selling the biotin or the shampoo and conditioner just sharing what I use. Some experience no change when using any supplement or shampoo's. Other's swear by their routine and what they use. Good Luck!!!! Deb -
Yeah I am going to look into getting reconstructive on everything. (maybe not everything, already had a TT years ago.) I found this wonderful plastic surgeron in the same buliding as my PCP. He accepts my insurance and so with fingers crossed I will be scheduling an appointment for a consult on what he can do and then speak with the insurance department on their billing procedures. I would like to hopefully schedule a late spring date. I am so hoping to be super near goal. Deb.

Do They Think I'm an Idiot?
ldydrgnkpr replied to Catracks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a sister in law question me about my choice to have wls last year. She pointed out that I could die from THIS TYPE of surgery. I responded , "really?" Wow, did you know that I could drop dead from a stroke if I don't do something? Yep she shut up rather quickly. And to top it off she has been complaining about her weight. And how having a tummy tuck to lose her weight would solve her problem. I too thought that by having a tummy tuck that would eliviate my weight troubles. Yeah not so much. The weight came back to my legs and hips, face. And then to my abdominal area. The procedure I had is what is called a lower body lift. I spent major bucks to have that done. The weight came back in a little over a year. I tried to tell her that would not "cure her obesity" but if she wanted to spend major bucks to find out on her own then more power to her. So to say the least I haven't seen her in almost a year. (Thanksgiving to be exact) So lets see what she says this year when we all get together, I can't wait. Deb -
Unfortunately I lost a lot from the boobs as well. Pre surgery I was a 38G Now 36 DDD. And I have room in those bras So now maybe I'm a 36DD. I'm am looking into getting my boobs overhauled in the spring. Along with getting rid of the bat wings. Deb.

Welcome new Members!!!
ldydrgnkpr replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! My name is Debbie. My starting weight was 233. I have lost 65 pounds since my surgery in March. I'm 6 months out and I think I'm on target with the loss. In order for me to weigh 135 that I would love to see, I have 33 more pounds left to lose. However, if I push myself to go down to 130 that would be 38 more pounds. I will play this by ear to see where I land and feel comfortable. I know that bcp can hamper the weight loss. I decided to go back on them for hormonal reasons per my doctor. I don't know how much that will play in my overall loss month to month. Will keep everyone posted. (right now I am on vacation hubby will not let me around a scale until we are home. LOL.......) Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
ldydrgnkpr replied to boredswfl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My surgeon was Dr. Jawad, Ocala, Fla. I had an awesome team of nurses at ORMC. They are very attentive to your needs. If I had to do it again, I would go with Dr. Jawad again. Deb -

Frustrated with United Healthcare
ldydrgnkpr replied to copgrrl2009's topic in Insurance & Financing
Depends on which policy your employer / spouse employer has. I'm covered under state employee policy. Which differs from policy to policy. I have a great policy. When I received the phone call the case manager informed me that a letter would follow. So depending on which policy would dictate what you would receive or not receive. As with anything each is different and experiences will differ as well. I didn't have any issues at all. However, If you can request the approval in writing do so. -
Hitting 60 lb mark and hair falling out in HANDFULS!
ldydrgnkpr replied to SuperMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree Biotin 5000 is what I am taking twice a day. I also use Nutri-Ox shampoo and conditioner. I have noticed my loss becoming less and less. I'm 6 months out. It hasn't completley stopped but it has cut the loss more than in half. Went from hand fulls to just enough to barely cover the drain in the shower. But again everyone is different. I will continue to take the biotin and using the shampoo and conditioner. Good luck! Deb -

United Healthcare requirement
ldydrgnkpr replied to peacequeen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have UHC Choice Plus and I didn't have to submit a five year history. However, depending on which plan your employer has will determine what you will need to submit. I had to call the 800 # on the back of my card which they gave me the 800 # to the Bariatric Resource Service to "enroll" which I received a case manager who in turn reviewed what critieria I needed to meet. For my policy I had to complete a six month supervised diet and exercise, psych eval, have a bmi over 40 and a letter from my PCP. Once I completed those requirements the surgeon submitted all of my paperwork to my UHC case manager. Best thing to do is to call and see if there is a number to put you in contact with a Bariatric Resource Service Rep. They are the ones that deal with the ins and outs of your policy for Weight Loss Surgery. Good Luck with everything. Deb
