ldydrgnkpr replied to Butterfly5's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I must be an odd ball. LOL...I don't crave nor do I want to eat. I just drink my Water and crystal light. I make myself eat the yogurt, cottage cheese. I do use Protein powder in my sf fat free pudding. So I'm at least getting protein in me. Plus a shake. So I really don't feel deprived of anything. Feel great and have no regrets at all.. Deb -

2 week post op visit, moved to mushies, full on 3 fork fulls?
ldydrgnkpr replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats great news about the BP meds. How fantastic is that? Excellent on the weight loss too!!!! I'm doing full liquids for another 3 weeks. I do find that when I eat cottage cheese I fill full fast after three bites. The same with the yogurt. On week five I can progress to tuna and any food that I can mash with a fork. I'm so looking for that. There maybe more restriction now that you are getting something other than liquids in. I felt more restriction after the broth and water stage. Deb -

Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
ldydrgnkpr replied to boredswfl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi everyone. My name is Debbie. My surgeon is Dr. Jawad in Ocala Florida. His staff Pushed my insurance through quickly. No problem. He is a great surgeon. The Bariatric staff at Ocala Regional Medical Center was very attentive to my needs. No complaints what so ever. Nor do I have any regrets on my choice of surgeon. -
Smoothie... ok for full liquids, or more mushies?
ldydrgnkpr replied to FuriosMommy's topic in Liquids (stage 1)
I read this post earlier and decided to try something. I took a banana cut it in half. I know it may seem time consuming, but I cut the banana length wise and used a very small spoon and slid the spoon down the center to remove the seeds. cut it into small cubes put it in the blender with some ice and my skim milk and Protein. A no seed smoothie. I also did kind of the same thing to some strawberries. I peeled them, (Yes I peeled strawberries.) cut them up and placed in a container sprinkled with some splenda. In the fridge. Will use those in the morning with my greek yogurt in the blender. Thats breakfast. If it can be seeded try it. My nut told me if you can blend it and you can remove the seeds you can have it. Deb -
Welcome! Great place to be. A lot of nice people here to help in anyway they can. Come back often! Deb

7 months, 67 pounds down....what's next?
ldydrgnkpr replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Amazing!!! Just amazing!!!!! I thought losing 12 pounds in just 5 days was great but that is truely amazing!!!! What in an inspiration!!!! Deb -
Had surgery on Monday 3/7 and down 7 pounds as of today. I was like WOW!!! Not wanting to step on the scale, but I was like what the heck. I guess all of that sipping and walking & restroom breaks works. I told myself I'd weigh myself no more than once every ten days. So in ten days I'll weigh myself again. Deb

How long before I can comfortably climb in bed?
ldydrgnkpr replied to sychadelic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The more you move the less chance you will have getting adheasions. Before they would release me I had to show that I could get in and out of bed. I didn't use the recliner at all. Straight from hospital bed to my own bed. I found that the recliner actually made my back hurt. Pluse the more you move the better you will feel. Since your bed is big and need a step stool the recliner may work. You will know what you can and can not tolerate. Deb -
My surgical experience
ldydrgnkpr replied to ldydrgnkpr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I had no issue with getting meds, like clock work didn't have to ask. By end of day one I refused them. I had no need to ask for them. In fact they were pushing them on me. I just told them I didn't feel like I needed them. They were a really cool staff. I doubt I offened the staff. I bet they have had to deal with a lot worse. In fact they couldn't believe I was declining pain meds and up running the hall ways. -
Hi everyone! Not sure if this is a good place to post this. If not Sorry. My surgery was March 7. My surgeon is Dr. Jawad in Ocala Florida. He is a great guy all around. Not much for jokes but I got him to chuckle. Anyway I was scheduled for 7 AM I was told to arrive at least an hour early. So we woke up at 3:00 AM and got dressed and headed north for the two hour drive at 3:30. So not really knowing the area, kinda got lost. Yeah yeah yeah I used mapquest. But what it failed to tell me that in Ocala there are TWO HOSPITALS within 50 yards of each other. LOL Now when we went up for pre op we drove a different way from the surgeon's office to the hospital. No problem. (thats my story anyway) So after circling BOTH hospitals for 20 minutes and not realizing it HE finally decides to ask directions. So we did arrive in time. I didn't understand why I was still waiting at 8:00 AM to be taken back. So with my head spining with excitement my husband made friends with a lot of people. LOL. I was getting a little upset. I'm sitting there watching all of these other people that came in after me being taken back before me. So I interupted my husbands social hour and asked if he thought It would seem pushy if I asked when I would be taken back? He said No go ahead and ask. So after some carefull consideration on my choice of words I asked. The reply I received was, "they know you are here and they will come and get you when they are ready". I was like really??? Now mind you it is now going on 9:00 AM Anyway after another 45 minutes I was called. Whew!!! Thought I was going to have to ask for a refund of my co-pay. LOL..So the nice lady walked us back to the nurses area for surgery waiting and I was on my way. Once I got the beautiful green gown that is provided the nice nurse with the ear to ear smile comes in and says okay what are we going to be doing to you today????? I said really? You don't know? Oh crap I'm in some deep POO then if you don't know. I look at my husband and he was like No way and shook his head. She thought I was serious. LOL.....I'm not sure what impression I gave her but it made me laugh when she gave me the deer in headlights look. HA HA . Okay moving on. The ritual of trying to find a vein on a dehydrated person is next to impossible. I wasn't about to have the nice big plastic needle in my arm. Nope I made her look for a vein on my left hand. I even helped her smack my hand. Once that was accomplished in came the happy jiuce dude. Again with the what are we doing to you today and what is your name? So instead of doing the same thing to him I just answered him. Then 5 minutes later another dude came in and he was the Respitory therapist. He to with the twenty questions. Then here comes the transport team to wheel me to my destination, gave hubby a kiss and away we go. Once inside the operating room, again with the questions, I said Really?!!! You guys don't know????!!! I'm not getting on that table until someone that does know gets here. Yep Blew their minds. Woke up so wanting to hurl everywhere. they gave me some meds and that feeling went away. Then I noticed that there was something taped to my damn nose. I was like what is this and proceeded to pull it out and a nurse was no no no!!!! Don't touch!!!!! My throat hurt like crazy no real pain other than my throat hurting. So back in my room I was very rude with everyone. Yep I was not having that NG Tube at all I asked if that was necessay? So that finally came out the next morning early. And may I add that was the most nasty thing I have EVER experienced. Now came the blue ice Water needed me to drink like 5 ounces in 20 minutes Ummm can you say it took me an hour to drink. Then off to x-ray. So cool I was able to take pictures of my new tummy. I will have to post. It was so cool watching the air bubbles come up while the Fluid was going down. So I must say it isn't bad but that depends on the person. It may be one of the worse things for one and a walk in the park for another. All in all this was by far the easiest procedure that I have had. Plus I had a fun time messing with the staff at the hospital. That was my favorite thing to do to pass the time. Deb

UHC and the 6 month "failed diet" attempt
ldydrgnkpr replied to Crabadams72's topic in Insurance & Financing
Do you have a case manager? If so she should be able to answer your questions. I have UHC and What I was told was, Your inital height and weight is what they go by. So if your doctor documented your height and weight and your bmi at the initial visit that is what they go by. But every policy is different. Double check. My initial bmi was 41.3 no comorbidities. Which is what was submitted by the surgeon. Was approved like in no time. Deb -

Got My Date!!!! March 21
ldydrgnkpr replied to sunshine6855's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The way I eliminated caffiene (coffee) We would do half caff and half decaf. Every week for several months untill we were both drinking decaf coffee. As far as the sodas, I just decided since I was having this surgery for my health and well being the sodas needed to go. I had six months to get rid of them (doing the six months for insurance purposes) So we just stopped buying them. And bought crystal light in different flavors. I also drink decaf tea sweetened with splenda. I honestly can not tell the difference. I wish you all of the luck in trying to get away from it. It is hard. But being commited will empower you to make it. Deb -
