Psych Eval tomorrow!
ldydrgnkpr replied to smileforamile91's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YAY!!! You are so there!!!! Depending on how long it takes the Psych to prepare his report and submit to Dr. Jawad. Once his office gets everything and submits to your insurance it could be a matter of days. It was for me. The day my info was submitted to UHC at 3:15 and by 5:30 the same day I had my approval. Then the next day I had my pre op appt and my surgery date. His staff is so quick to get things moving!!!!! It is all down hill from here. Good luck!!! Deb -
40 here and oversewn. Doing good with it. I was told that there is mearly mm in difference with the sizes. I questioned why a 40 and that is where he explained that there isn't much difference in sizes. My capacity now is 2-4 ounces and max will be 6 ounces. I can barely eat 2 1/2 ounces now. Deb

How soon were you allowed to go home after surgery?
ldydrgnkpr replied to sarahh1828's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sent home the next day. As soon as the leek test came back with no leaks. It is totally each surgeon's discression. Deb -
Mine called for one dose and I did have two bm's the morning of the surgery. Some people don't and some do follow and be compliant. Totally your call. But there is a reason behind their madness. Not sure what it is. Deb.

One Month Since Surgery
ldydrgnkpr replied to Amanda131's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will know when you have had enough and when you have OVER EATEN. My surgeon explained to me that when you have over eaten that one last bite will come back up. and I measure everything so that I DO NOT OVER EAT. I barely can eat over 2 1/2 ounces. You will do just fine. Deb -
One Month Since Surgery
ldydrgnkpr replied to Amanda131's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not quite at a month, but already down 25 pounds. It is soooo amazing to see and feel how loose my clothes are already fitting. I do hope that I can keep my momentum going. I have shaken up my routine. I climb the stairs at work during my breaks. It seems to be counter acting and confusing my body. I walk 45 minutes a day and resistance training every other day. So we will see how this works with the weight loss. Everyone is doing an amazing job!!!! Deb -
Unrealistic Expectations
ldydrgnkpr replied to ILKrista's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I told my immediate co-workers. In my office only. (and family of course) The one thing I had to put the breaks on was the "how much did you lose today?" Every day the same thing. So I announced to all of them that I only weigh myself every ten days. They will eventually quit asking me. They are supportive, and I understand that I'm the first one that they know that has went through this. So yes they are very curious. They ask me a lot of questions which is fine with me. I answer what I can, what I can't I tell them to google it. LOL..... So my first week back to work was pretty good. Deb -
Thanks, I just thought I was eating too many carbs or not enough calories. I understand that the more weight that you need to lose. It comes off fairly quick. I was so hoping to get rid of my first 50 within the first 90 days. Maybe once I am able to "eat" I will find it easier to chart calories and Protein then carbs. Right now depending on the serving size I seem to cut everything to 1/4 the serving then re-calculate everything. I know seems like work right. LOL. Thanks for responding. Deb

ldydrgnkpr replied to Tiffykins's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
OH Tiff that is such wonderful news. I'm so happy for your family. Congratulations!!!!! Deb -
Two weeks ago I was sleeved. Today I'm back at work. I feel good, busy and answering questions from my co- workers. A few are proud and some not really knowing what to think. It is like I didn't even leave. Lol. Two weeks was ample time for me before I returned to work. Could've gotten away with only one week. Doctor said two. Anyway feels great to get back into the swing of things. Deb

Potential bander thinking of going with the sleeve
ldydrgnkpr replied to Jensharley's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was too going to get the band in the begining, but soon after I read post after post on the health hazzards I decided to go with the sleeve. So glad I did. I have no issues with my sleeve. I actually saw a picture in my surgeon's office of what band erosion looks like. Oh I'm so so glad I did the sleeve. That looked so awful and painful. He isn't doing as many bands now, but he is doing a lot of revisions. I researched the sleeve for several months ,I realized that it was the better choice of the options available. Research and discuss with your doctor the options available to you. Only you can make this discision for you. Good luck. Deb -
Depending on what your doctor has recommended for you. You should receive a list of what you can and can not have and at which stage. Every doc is different on how they want their patients to proceed with their diets. Mine had me on liquids for only 2 days. Day 3 - week 4 started full liquids. Which consists of cottage cheese and yogurt sf pudding, creamed Soups. Week 5-8 for me is fish, mashed potaoes anything that I can mash with a fork. Week 9 is a slow re-introduction of "regular food" So depending on what is recommended by your doctor. Just follow what your surgeon has given you as your guidelines for post op. Deb

so afraid my sleeve will stretch
ldydrgnkpr replied to Brielle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine does too. I'm two weeks out. My surgeon told me to take zegrid and I also take zantac. The zantac works better at reducing the "hungry feeling" He also told me maalox 1/2-1 teaspoon. But he wanted me to stay on the zegrid. Check with your surgeon. Deb -
Yes I did. On February 16. And my case manager seemed very excited for me. It is a fantastic call to receive. My message was, "I have wonderful news for you. Please call me back." I did and I was so shaking when I was dialing her number. Yes a call I will not forget. Then came the "approval" letter. I still have it. I have put it with all of my other papers for my sleeve. Congrats!!!!! Making room for you on the loser's bench!!!!! Deb

Trust me the 6 months will fly by. It did for me and before I knew it I was sleeved. Now I'm ready to go back to work. You will find some very excellent answers here to almost all of your questions. The people here are very nice. Deb
