How long did it take for you to get approved?

I have UHC I was approved the same day my paperwork was submitted. ( Under 2 hours ) Totally depends on who your insurance company is. Deb
  2. Mine were in my arm. They started off in my right arm. Then to my left arm. When I got home my entire left upper arm was one huge purple black mass. My right was a little smaller. So I can relate to size and color. It took several weeks for the bruising to subside. Deb

    Consistant weekly weight loss

3 pounds a week is where I'm at now. I do exercise 40 min a day. Cardio and weights, bowflex. I don't know what else I can do to up the weight loss amount. Carbs are low Protein is high. Fluids are at an all time high. (80 ounces) I'm stumped. (Not that I'm complaining.) Deb

How I'm Doing At 3 Months

Hi Kitty, Great news that you lost 50 pounds!!!! I'm almost to that 50 pound mark. I did stall at week three and stayed there for three weeks. I know what you are saying. There are times I do not want to eat either, I do because I know I have to. I know I need the Protein and I know I need the fluids as well. I'm almost to that three month mark to. I know exactly what you are saying. I haven't ventured out to eat yet. I really don't want to either. I don't know how I would handle it. So I don't even think about it. I do very well with my protein 70 grams a day. My fluids are above the 64 ounce mark. I also found that I do not think about food all the time now, like I did before. It seems to have become mundane. I struggle with the options available to me to prepare my lunches and such. I became very tired of eggs so I don't eat them anymore. I lost my fondness of yogurt as well. I have found I do very well with seafood. I did try shark. (Not for me.) I will try to re-introduce some fruit back into my diet. I get 30 to 45 minutes of exercise a day. I know all of this will be a big adjustment. Like with any life changing event. We do adapt to our surroundings, so I believe we will adapt to our new lifestyles. I don't regret doing this and I would do it again in a new york minute. Wishing you much success on your journey Deb
  11. Does washing waxing and detailing the car count as exercise??? Hope so!!!! LOL!!

  12. So happy about the jeans. Thats just wonderful. I agree that there is bad with the good. But for me the good out numbers the bad. My weight at pre op was 234 my weight today is 198 and 5 1'. I am what is considered by my surgeon a "lite weight" But my BMI was 44. So to me I wasn't a lite weight by no means. I did hit a stall at three weeks that lasted three weeks. I just cleared that hurddle. So the frustration that goes along with it is there. I do struggle with decisions that I make everyday when preparing my lunch for work. Just because I can doesn't mean I should. So I stick with Protein first. Generally I barely have room for carbs. I do try to squeeze in a brussle sprout. My husband has not had WLS either. He does his best to encourage me with my decision to have had WLS. He has been there the whole time. It does help to have a cheerleader on your side. He works out with me. We take turns on the treadmill, spot each other when lifting weights. I haven't eaten out yet. I guess that will be when I'm ready. I do get strange looks at work when I am eating. A big girl eating small pieces of chicken cut into tiny squares. Then the giant bottle of Water I carry around all day. They were so use to seeing me eat junk food, sodas, chips. All day everyday at my desk. So yeah I have done a complete 360 on my lifestyle. For the better, So yes it can be frustrating. There is no going back for me. I will never allow myself to fall back into unhealthy habits again. The sleeve has made see why I eat. I do wish you the very best on your journey. Deb
  13. I don't experience hunger, nor do I crave certain types of food anymore. I gave up mtn. dew and pepsi, dr.pepper last summer when I decided to look into WLS. After surgery I was a little sore. No real "Pain" to speak of. I do manage to eat 70 grams of Protein a day. And a very small amount of vegetables. It is a lifestyle change. You have to be aware of what is expected of you in order to succeed. This is no magic bullet, fix whatever you want to call it. You have to work at it. Sure sometimes I do not feel like doing my 20 minutes of cardio or my 20 minutes of weight lifting. But I do. Why? Because it makes me feel so much better. I understood what I was getting into. I researched night and day. Watched videos of the surgery. Do I regret it? No I do not. Would I do it again? Yes, In a New York minute. I love my sleeve. No regrets at all!!!!! Best wishes & Good luck on your journey Deb

    Finally.....

Thanks Coops. I never thought I would ever be under 200 again. This tool has helped me to understand the reason to eat. Deb
  16. mine was three visits. Billed at 2.5 hrs to the insurance company per visit reguardless if I was there 30 min or 10. (he was on their list of approved providers) My co-pay was 20.00 a visit. First visit was basically a why are you here today type of visit. The second was the MMPI2 test. (There is one on line to look at and yes the questions are the same) Third was the results of the test. Within a few days my surgeon had the report. Not a bad experience at all. Deb
  17. My stall lasted 3 weeks. I bumped up my fluids and protein. Then i increased my workout from 30 min a day to 45 min a day. Then like nothing I dropped 5 pounds since tuesday. Talk about being excited. My total carb intake per day is 20-25. Calories roughly 600. Don't know if that is too little but I'm eating protein first and veges last. I snack on pork rinds around 2 ounces which has 160 calories 18 grams of protein & zero carbs. I do eat a lot of baked chicken and turkey. (skinless) Fish and shrimp. Scallops. Then steamed veges. I hit between 60-70 grams of protein a day. Give it time it will happen. Deb

    Stall broke

Haven't posted much lately. I have been working on this stupid stall for about three weeks. It broke finally!!!! So excited!!!!! I have lost another four pounds this week!!!!!!! Amazing, just amazing. I'm now exactly one pound away from onderland!!!!! I am so hoping that by this Sunday I will be under 200 for the first time in ages. Thanks to everyone here during the stall I used everyone's suggestions. By not stressing over it it finally happened. The power of positive thoughts. Deb
  20. Went to see my surgeon today. They supplied me with a sheet that has my starting weight and current weight.( Which the starting weight is a little off. and the current weight is off. I go by my scale here at home.) Then it has my EWL as of today. I was shocked to see what they decided my goal weight should be. I was like really???? 122.4 pounds. I haven't seen that since junior high school. LOL..... They then said that I shouldn't go by that. Where I feel comfortable is where I should be. We will see what my end result will be. They said that I was on target with the EWL percentage I'm at 23 %. I also found out that my sleeve will end up with a capacity of 8 ounces but they told me that I will probaly never go that far. I get mad hic cups and burping and thats when I call it done eating. They said thats a good plan. I do feel restriction but only on dense protein. That to will change the further out I become. They also reassured my concern with how some foods smell so wonderful but once I take a bite its like I don't want this. Yep that is normal too. So glad to hear that. I proceeded to explain how I do not crave carbs but crave meat. I find that weird. Not to them. Told me that too is normal. All in all appointment went good. Don't go back until October. By then I am willing to bet I will be at goal or pretty damn close.
  21. Hi everyone, I was sleeved March 7th. I do feel restriction, I can barely eat 3 ounces of anything. I do eat some vegetables not a lot. I still do one Protein shake a day. I am unable to eat anything in the am. I have major restriction first thing. I can only drink 3 sips of coffee and I'm done. I too have hit a stall. I am not too worried about it. I started weight training the latter part of last week. So I'm hopeful this will break my stall. I have also included some extra protein in my daily intake. It doesn't bother me to see other people eat Pasta, breads or anything to that nature. I have counted carbs since I was able to eat chicken or tuna. My daily carb intake is 20 grams or less. Depending on what I take to work for lunch. I do try to eat almost 1/2 cup of chobani plain yogurt sweetened with splenda on a daily basis. I do eat 12 almonds which is half a serving. So I just cut the calorie and carb per serving in half. I document everything on my IPhone. When I get home I put everything in my journal. Every carb counts. Even the carbs in the multi Vitamin and the two pieces of SF gum I chew a day. I feel confident that I will be successful and not even a nasty little stall will overcome my determination to succeed. Just want to wish everyone great success with their journey. Deb

    food to eat.

Thanks Rootman. What I can not tolerate is almost everything on my list. I did not deviate from what my doc recomended. I can not stand canned tuna in Water, baked skinless chicken or any type of mayo. Even sf pudding taste like salt to me. The one thing I can eat is soft scrambled egg with a pinch of shredded cheese. Go figure. I can eat fresh grilled fish and sometimes that doesn't taste good. So I will just have to work with it. Hopefully I will be able to eat my Protein instead of drinking my protein. I have no desire for any type of "bad carbs" I haven't had any starches of any kind since a week before surgery. Truely I like this part. No cravings is so awesome. Thanks again. Deb

    food to eat.

Not sure if this is the place to post this....I'm six weeks (almost seven) out. On mushy's, I'm finding eating food is a challenge. I can not find one thing that is appealing. I smell it and its like oh that smells so good but when I eat it, It's like yuck!!!! Is this normal???? I hope so. I barely can eat anything on my list that is allowed. My taste for food has so changed since being sleeved. I could see this as a positive. Any insight as to why this has happened so that I can understand and know what to expect. Deb
