  1. Hey guys, I have been lost weight-still have some to loose but getting close to being happy with myself. My skin is very flabby though especially in my hips. Do any of you have any tricks you found to promote elestaticty of your skin after weight loss? Or am I stuck like this unless I get plastic surgery- which I can not afford? Thanks guys:)
  2. Hi guys, My hair has been falling out and thining so much I am begining to worry about going bald. Everytime I move many strands fall out. So I need suggestions tips and info on how to prevent this. I have read that biotin helps and one article about Omega 3, 6, 8 supplements. I was wondering how much most of you take of each and if there is anything else I can do. I have also increased my protein intake. I wash my hair everyday and wear a ponytail alot. Is this bad for increasing hair loss? Will my hair grow back after I stop loosing weight or is this permant? Any suggestions or tips would be greatly apprcieated. Thank you so much
  3. Thank you both the biotin seems to be helping a little. Do either of you know if the fish, boric, flax oil helps. It is so gross! I read somewhere it helps but only once. If it doesn't I would love not to take it. Did you grow new hair back when it stopped falling out? I have always put blond highlights in my hair to brighten things up. I am thinking about just dying it all a soild darker color. I don't really want to, but if it would keep me from going bald I should. What do you guys think? Thanks again:)
  4. Unfortunately the band is just a useful tool to help you on this journey. I know you know this, but I have to remind myself this fact at least once a day. I love chocolate too. We have all been there otherwise we wouldn't have a band, lol. It is hard but you can become healthy again. It is probably the most important thing you could ever do for yourself and your family. I have found that I must eliminate all surgery and high carb foods from our home and my diet in order to be successful. The first couple weeks of this was the hardest. I felt bad and had horrible cravings. My doctor said I was detoxing. This helps me to remind myself this is my drug addiction that is unhealthy for me. I increased my Protein and that seemed to help. I use no sugar carnation instant Breakfast 2 packs and skim milk for my breakfast. This was also my pre-opt diet. I highly suggest going on a liquid Protein shake diet for a week or 5 days. It seems crazy but it does help me when I get stuck or off track. It also helps my pouch shrink a bit and I get my head in the right place. Don't give up. You have lost 40 lbs that is great and not easy. You can do this!! It took time to gain. It will take time and work to lose it. But you will get there! Congratulation on your first 40lbs. Keep up the good work. You are not alone in this journey we are all here to support you. I know it is incredibly hard at times. You are strong and you can bet it. No more sugar cold turkey. I a couple weeks you won't even crave it. That is my best advice.

    Mushy Ideas

I like greek yougart and it is low in calorie and has like10 grams of protein. I also ate boiled egg whites with salt and peper and refried Beans with a little shreded chees and salsa and chilli. I was supper busy when in the phase so had to do minimal cooking. It really wasn't that bad though:) I did have to take gas X prevention durning that though because most of my meals were gassy foods, lol.
  7. I have had that problem, lol. This is different though it is in the top of my stomach and is definitely the food. I don't know why it doesn't do it all the time. I think it happens if I take too big of bites or gulp a drink. It is almost like a burp but not. I is just air from my stoma moving up to make way for whatever I'm eating or drinking. I am a weird one:)
  8. Yeah mine does it also. It can be very embarrassing. I usually just laugh and say I am sorry my stomach is gurgling. I just say that so they don't think the weird sound is anything else body related. Also mine makes weird suction sounds as my food slides down into my pouch and the air moves. I know this is what it is because I can feel it. Oh well take me as I am funny sounds and all:)
  9. I agree completely unfortunately the band is just a useful tool to help you on this journey. I don't know your habits or diet. We have all been there otherwise we wouldn't have a band, lol. It will take time and work to lose it. But you will get there! Congratulation on your first 50lbs. Keep up the good work:) I live in Oklahoma and use Dr Fisher in Tulsa and Dr. Kirk in Owasso. They have been great with me.
  10. Hey guys, It has been a while since I posted. I love my band I have lost 50lbs since being banded and am still continuing to loose. I am having some issues lately though. It has been 2 months since my last fill. I felt fine untill a couple of weeks ago. I started spitting up almost everytime I eat or drink not sure why and feel nausseated. I feel like my pouch has gotten smaller is that possiblle. It may also be that I am drinking more Water since it has been sooo hot in Oklahoma. What do you guys think? Any suggestions for me? I chew properly. Thanks guys:)
  11. I was doing the same thing. I would start feeling weak or sick, so I tried to force myself to eat. Then I'd spit it up. I have been ingesting warm liquids and mushies for 1 1/2 days now. I am not sure but it may be helping. I thing I try it a couple more days before going back to my "normal" routine. I did find a good way to drink my Breakfast. I usually have a no sugar carnation instant breakfas. I warmed the milk up in the microwave and it tasted just like hot chocolate. I broke down and called my drs office today. The lady that answers the phones says some people to react to warmer temperatures this way. My doc is out of town till Monday so that gives me a little time to try mushies and hope it works. I think I was at my sweet spot before the summer. I hope you start feeling better soon:)

  13. That was the toughest part of my recovery. I had tons of pressure under my rib cage. It was caused from the gas they use while doing surgery. I took gas X strips and walked, and walked and walked some more finally it got better. Hang in there! Congratulations I remember going through all of the pre-opt stuff. It was so time consuming and frustrating I almost gave up. So glad I didn't though. Hope your feeling better soon:
  14. Would something be stuck that long? I'll get some coffee. I don't have pain and have heard that is a major sign of slippage. I have forgotten and taken a couple chugs of water a few times as soon as I feel the pouch fill though I remember and stop. Thanks for the info.
  15. Do you know why you tightend up? Did the temperature change it? Thanks for the advice I will do that. So mushies and liquids for a few days, and warm drinks. Thank you all. I am a little concerned about calling the doctor. My hubby who has a band had a small prob and they took out tons of liqiud from his band. I don't want to start all over if I can help it.
  16. I live in Bartlesville and grew up in Collinsville so I am very familar with Owasso. Yeah I love it here to. That is the way I feel, like it just happened out out of the blue. It is nice to meet a fellow Okie-if just at heart:) Thanks for the info. I don't have any pain so hopefully it isnt a slippage.
  17. Hey guys, I was wondering how long you have have to wait between fills and why? I was banded on Oct 20 and was not able to get in an appointment with my fill dr until Dec. 13. So my surgeron said he would do my first fill on 11/23. So my question is can I keep my 12/13 appt after having my first fill on 11/23? I think it is around 3 wks apart. If so, does insurance typically require a waiting period or is it based on the docs reccommendations? I realize everyone is different, and I will visit with my dr about it as well. I really need some restricstion. I now understand the term bandster's hell:( Haven't lost any weight in a couple weeks. Is this typical?
  18. tannie

Is 3 wks enough between fills?

Thanks guys, I will only get it if I need it. What does it feel like if I hit my "sweet spot" or at least what did it feel like to you? Anything to look out for?
  19. What is carribean jerk? sounds yummy!
  20. Hey guys I will be having my first fill under fluoroscopaty. I'm not scheduled till mid Dec which is a bummer. I am soo hungry lately. I'm sticking with the program, but hoping the fill will make things easier. I was wondering how many fills it took some of you to get to your sweet spot if you used fluroscopaty.
  21. Thank you guys. I so hope it helps. I have felt great since surgery. Really not hungry. Now though I am starving and don't get a fill until Dec 13. Did your first one help even if you didn't get to your sweet spot?
  22. I take have take lyrica for a couple of years and in those two years gained a ton of weight. It sucks. The medicine is great for my nerve pain-due to Muscular Dystrophy. It is the only thing that has helped. I have tried to stop taking it, but can barely make it through the day when I do. I think unfortunately the side effect is a significant one-at least for me. I'm still taking it. I have lost a little.

    Third Week and Hungry

Crapp!!! I just scheduled a band a fill and they can't get me in until Dec 13, plus I looked at my calendar and realized I am only two weeks post band. I was thinking three b/c that was when it was originally scheduled. I know what a crazy thing to forget. So Next week it may get worse, I guess. Double Crapp!!

    Third Week and Hungry

I feel the same way. I'm sooo hungry and it is like all of a sudden. Literally, yesterday I was fine today I am famished. I keep telling myself to control myself and am doing a good job, but so hungry! Glad to know it is not just me. I was banded Oct 14th.
  25. Hey guys, It has been about two weeks since I had my lb. I was feeling full and loved it but now I am soo hungry all of a sudden. Is this normal. I've been doing good losing about a lb a day. It is really hard today though all I want to do is eat. Any reccommendations? I have been sticking with the post opt diet strictly which is really hard b/c I can't stand tuna, so my main source of protein is beans. Also can anyone reccommend a good protein drink I can get a wal-mart-that is low calorie.
