  4. Hi, welcome to the forum! You're among friends now. I was only banded 6 days ago in Belgium, and I'm still finding my feet with it all. I'm on liquids mostly, but they said I could have no lump Soup so my partner has been making me some great healthy Soups and blending them for me. I'm sure this will be the answer for you. You are obviously completely signed up for it mentally and I'm sure you won't look back. I look forward to reading your posts. The only way is forward, and we're both grabbing the future full on for sure!!

    people love failure

Hi Tracy, my friend and I have been big ever since we've known each other. When I told her I was getting a band, she said "oh yeah, a woman at work had that done, but she put it all back on again and more besides..." When she'd gone, my partner said "I can translate what she really meant, which was "oh no, now you'll be slim and I'll still be fat...." I don't know what makes people tell failure stories, unless it's the only thing they've heard about LAP-BAND® so they reel it off their tongue. Another friend also said to me "WHAT? you've agreed to have surgery on the 13th of the month? Unlucky or what??" I think we just have to excuse them... in terms of thinking deeply about the whole procedure, we are miles and miles ahead of them. The nicest responses are when people say "Wow! congratulations on making such a big life decision. I wish you well!!!"
  6. Hi Cocoabean, how nice of you to reply the people I go out with tend to be fast eaters; so maybe you're right, my eating a bit of food very slowly may still be timed nicely with their eating 3 courses quickly. Thanks for giving me a more positive angle
  7. Hi Mariasha, thanks for the guidance. Good point you raised about people not noticing= I don't remember a time when I myself sat and watched someone else eating. Suppose I'm just a bit overwhelmed by the the changes it's going to bring. Thanks, take care:tongue:
  8. Thanks AnnieM, this info is really useful for me, I've printed it to take with me when I eat out. I sat at the kitchen table with my partner for the first time today and we ate together- he on ham and eggs, me on thin Soup  It wasn't too bad - have to face these things some time or other. Thanks again for the help, very best wishes to you
  9. Hi Fatboy slim, thanks for your reply. Got home from Belgium 3 days ago. I got through it ok and you will too  Had lots of time to think while recovering, I think I'll be open with people I'll be dining with, but will also politley get the message across to them that I don't want the little amount I'll be eating referred to all night. After all I want to feel the same as everyone else. I think they'll understand. ~Best wishes to you

    Stages of Banding

Hi, thanks so much for posting this, it's helped me a lot. Getting banded on 13th in Belgium. At least now I'll know I'm not going mad as I go through the different stages! I'm not fightened of op, or pain, I'll just get on with it, but have been scared of wondering "what the hell I did to myself". Now I know that stage doesn't last for ever. thanks again
