After 10 years of high blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides, depression,15 years of spinal arthritis and degenerative joint disease. I've gone through 3 years of menapause, stress incontinence, started having heart palpitations and have gradually gained weight from 40 years of age until now at 53. I felt I needed to do something about my weight.  Being obese has contributed to all of the co-morbidities I suffer from.  One of my Grandfathers died at the age of 54 of a heart attack and my mother died of a heart attack at the age of 63. Heart disease and diabetes is in the history of my dad's and my mom's family. I have 3 grandchildren 4 years old and under and I want to live to see them grow up. I want to feel better and be able to get exercise that I haven't been able to get in 10 years or longer. Over a 15 year period I think I've tried every diet known to man without in lasting results. I have 2 cousins, and several friends who've had the lapband procedure and they've done wonderfully. When I consulted with my PCP, cardiologist, gastroendorologist, pain management specialist for my back, and my therapist, they all agreed it would be a great idea and would approve and endorse the procedure to help improve my health. I went to a lapband seminar August 3 and I go for my history and physical next Tuesday, September 7, with my surgeon. I have a support meeting on September 14 and my surgery is scheduled for October 15 and I would have it earlier if I could. I am so ready too.
