  1. Same here, my pain seemed worse when I tried to go to bed, couldn't get comfortable and WOW pain when getting out of bed. But I am on week two and it is much better. I found some bruising on my lower tummy as well on the other side from the surgery (?) I don't have any itching however. I did try and help my kitty get up on the washer and I did feel a tug on my stiches. I guess when they say no lifting of more than 20 lbs for a few weeks, they weren't kiddin!!
  2. Jogging no, but walking slow but steady. The doc had wanted to do a hip/knee replacement but I needed to lose weight. With the WLS maybe I won't need to extra surgery. Getting ready to do the 6 minutes now. I found the tickerfactory.com, but not sure how to put the link in here. Still working on it. It would be fab to do a stretching class, let me know how that works out.

  3. You should be in recovey and wondering what did you do  I hope you are one of the lucky ones, with minimal pain and are feeling great.
  4. I think I found the friend request button. Hope to hear from you soon. That five minutes on the treadmill is hard, but as you said, gotta keep pushing ourselves.

  5. Waiting to hear that South Dakota Girl is home and in recovery. We are thinking about ya.
  6. I was told that most people vomit at least once in the first two weeks. I had two times I felt nauseous, but kept it down. But I am terrified, so I am eating slowly. After my first post op visit yesterday, my friend took me out for lunch. The restaurant was nice enough to puree some chicken soup for me, and I had apple juice too. I ate very slowly, I kept thinking oh no, what if I threw up. I am taking another week off too. I tried to pick up my kitties and my stiches pulled, so I guess you really can't pick up 20 pounds for 4 weeks. I love pureed soups, they are awesome. Glad you are coming along, can you believe we made it- yee haw!
  7. 7 pounds is really awesome if you think about it!. I had been trying to get below 250 for almost two years, and finally did it. Every pound is a victory. I have had a few days where I have gotten really hungery, lightheaded and nauseous- I eat some yogurt and drink some more water. I thought maybe I was dehydrated as well. I told my doctor on my first post op yesterday that I had a few days of being hungry and was told it was ok to eat more protein to fill me up. I am so envious you can eat soft foods. Found one recipe from playermimi, if anyone has any more, let me know. I am going shopping first thing tomorrow morning, early, before the crowds, so I can move SLOWLY.
  8. Yummm will try that recipe. I can eat eggs, and oatmeal starting tomorrow. Going to try and drive to the grocery store. If I don't have enough energy will use the grocery store electric cart. I even called them to make sure I could not do any wheelies!! I know one person who had LAP-BAND® and one who had gastric bypass surgery. Both had gained all their weight back. But if you look at what they are eating....One has Starbucks drinks in her hand all day, and the other eats plates full of french fries with catsup. They must have reverted back to their old style of eating, which we know we cannot do. I will need to be vigilant of my eating. I work nights and the guys go out for dinner every night. I plan on bringing my lunch. I thought- hey I could have a milkshake. But I am not going to. Would it be worth it to have over 350 empty, sugary calories that might bring back my sweet tooth. No way, after all we have been through.
  9. I guess I didn't do the friend thingy correctly, because it hadn't taken, I tried to reply to it again today. So hopefully we will be friends shortly.
  10. Hi Jason's mom. I had my surgery at REX on 9/11 and everyone was wonderful. I had the hernia removed at the same time. Nurses, and aids were all so very nice. They were patient with me and my pain, when I needed to go for a walk. I also spent an extra night in the hospital too. I had to be there at 0515 so I didn't have much sleep before hand. In the prep room they gave me fuzzy socks, and the blankets were heated, it was awesome. Good luck and keep in touch.
  11. I accepted your friend request, hope you got it. I did 5 minutes on the treadmill- 298 steps. Pathetic but can only go up from here. hahah

  12. Awesome, how does the "fill" make you feel. Less hungry? Are you still eating pureed foods? My first post op is tomorrow and not sure if I will get a fill on that date or not. I also have some bruising on other parts of my stomach that I've noticed. At least they don't hurt.
  13. Ok cool, not sure how to do the friend thing so will wait for you. I found a 10,000 step program, so I could wear a pedometer on my treadmill. The ideal is to walk 10,000 steps a day. So that will be my goal. but will need to break it down into lots of baby steps. I need the motivation and encouragement of everyone to initiate an exercise program.:rolleyes2:
  14. You go!! We will be here for you. It does get better every day.
  15. How do I set up one of those BMI meters I see attached to some of your messages? Go to tickerfactory.com and set yourself up one. There will be a url at the end that you can copy and paste into your profile (look for the customize profile link) and then "edit signature". Paste the url into it. Can't wait to try it. Thanks.
  16. I would love to! I'm sure others would as well. I am not in good shape to begin with however. I bought a treadmill just for this journey and it's in the middle of the living room right in front of the TV. We could each set a personal goal, and cheer the other one on. I am good at making up excuses too, so this way, I won't be able to get away with it.
  17. Congrats on your date! My surgeon removed a hernia at the same time as my surgery. I was told they usually keep people using a CPAP machine over night to ensure their oxygen levels are ok. Mine were very low and I was on oxygen for two days. Whenever we took the oxygen off, I set off the monitor indicating it was still too low. On the 2nd night we tried my CPAP machine and I did not set off the monitor all night. Hopefully when we lose some weight we can get off the CPAP. Not sure how we will know when we are ready, maybe a new sleep study? You will be on liquids for a week or two, just don't drink too much at once and stretch out the band. Good luck and keep in touch. I too would like to know how to set up the tickers as well, if anyone can guide us. :rolleyes2:
  18. I can't wait to check back tomorrow to see how everyone is doing. My nutritionist is so awesome, she called to give me a phone consult today to see how I was doing. I was messing up a few things. Like the Isopure protein drink- 4 ounces. I am only supposed to drink 2 ounces at a time. I also have not been getting enough fluids, and need to drink more. Crystal Light was recommended. I am supposed to have three meals a day and one protein snack of 15 G protein, but if I get hungry to have another protein snack. She infomed me of a post op support group that I will look into tomorrow. Thursday is my first post op visit, wonder if I will get a fill to take away some of the hunger. Will let you know. Night all, I sat up too long now.
  19. Looking forward to hearing you are home and resting comfortably.
  20. Can't wait to hear from all the bandsters tomorrow. It does get better every day. You guys are my buddies as no one else knows what we are going through.
  21. Thanks, will be checking Amazon shortly.
  22. AWESOME! You are home. Glad you are feeling as good as you are, keep up the good work.
  23. You guys are so awesome to be able to work on the liquid diet days. It was just a coincidence that my surgery was scheduled right after my day off, so I could stay home and drink fluids and pee, pee, and pee. Once I discovered the SF jello, it made the liquid diet much better. It took me 5 days from there (surgery was the next day) until I had a BM. I think the pain meds tie up your bowels. By this time tomorrow you may be home.
