    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

Ok I took the plunge into real world food!! I had a Morningstar Garden Veggie Burger on a whole wheat English muffin and steamed veggies. (Before I would have put lots of butter or margarine on the veggies). I ate them without any seasonings or butter and they were really good. I chewed and chewed and almost finished it, then I felt really full!! This is really scary though. I kinda liked the soft foods, I was eating the same thing every day and didn't have to think about choices. But I was really hungry. My next visit is in three weeks, so I hope to lose 3 more pounds. I almost bought coffee creamer today, but changed my mind. I had my first cup of coffee and I put soy milk in it. With you guys help, I will stay honest with myself.

  5. Thanks guys for the exercise hints. Can't wait for my pants to fall off, WOW that would be awesome, as long I wasn't at work. Ok, will find a good TV show to put on, and do it -or bust!!

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

I had my 2nd followup appt today and the PA said I was doing so well, no fill. I had gained 2 pounds too by the doctor's scale, but lost 4 pounds since my last appt on 23 Sept- so about 1 pound a week, which is what they wanted me to lose. I was afraid to start on breads and meat, but I was told today that is where most of my hunger is coming from because I was still eating mostly soft foods. DUH!! So I bought some English Muffins and some whole wheat pasta and will not mash up my carrots. Wish me luck! I don't want to go berserk.... I eyeballed all the cake and Halloween candy at the grocery store today (last year I bought a whole box of cookies at the bakery). Today, nothing!! My treat is those yummy yogurts that taste like pineapple upside cake. And starting today I no longer have to crush my thyroid meds. Yea. Thanks guys for listening. Lisa congrats on moving up to solid foods!! Do you know what you are going to have first??

Hello, I opened up my incision last week too. I didn't exercise for two days, kept taking showers with antibacterial soap. I gave it the weekend, and it stopped bleeding and looked much better on Monday so I did not tell the doctor. I gained back 1 pound as well on my one month anniversary, but my surgeon f/u is tomorrow so will see what happens. Have you counted calories at all? I wasn't getting enough. I still get hungry, but drink lots of tea and eat every 3-4 hours. Still food is constantly on my mind. Keep to the doctor's advice, I guess we just wanna jump back in there too soon. I still cannot pick up kitties (over 20 pounds) but they find a way to get on my lap!! Let us know how you are doing.
  8. Thanks for your post!! I was bummed that after a month I had gained 1 pound back, but I went to the hairdresser today and she said I have lost inches. I need to remember, as you said, that the weight did not come on overnight (maybe it took 2 days- hahahah). I will set my goal then to 12-15 pounds by the end of the year- that is 1 pound a week, and still right now is more weight than I have lost in the last 5 years!! We will be right behind you cheering you on your 5K!! Yea my appt is tomorrow and I can tell my incision still pulls when lifting my kitties or pushing our large trash can, so will keep on the treadmill for awhile. Not ready for weights yet..Hope to work up to 30 mins, but I hate it, hate it, hate it. Up to 16 mins and it does seem easier however.

    Psycologist or Dietician?

You could call your nutritionist to discuss the right foods to eat, and maybe count calories. You could also call your psychologist to discuss your feelings with food and how to deal with them. One day last week I felt like eating "just something". I opted for a yogurt instead of something sinful that I would have eaten in the past. I contacted my nutritionist when after 3 weeks I was extremely hungry. She has always been helpul. Good luck with your journey, I think most of us are having the same feelings.
  10. Thanks for the encouragement. I woke up yesterday, and was just as tired as the day before, so it did not make a difference whether I worked out or not, so I worked out. Up to 16 mins. Well my treadmill is right in the middle of the living room, not too attractive, but it does fold up. Kitties just love to sleep on it (go figure). I worked out because of you guys!! Today is my day off, so running around, and yup still tired, but might look for some of those herbs, will try em out tonight, as I am off tomorrow too, in case I get loopy. I know you will find some time to some kind of exercise today. sourmissg WOW awesome! gracerev We just got a Curves. Might check it out, thanks.
  11. Thanks everyone for the motivation. I was too tired to work out yesterday, but I didn't want to go two days inna row, so working out after I post this. It's still difficult to exercise as soon as I get out of bed. I don't sleep good yet. I fall asleep after work on the recliner, and wake up around 3:00 am, but when I get in the bed I toss and turn, some days feeling like I did not sleep at all. But maybe if I keep exercising, I will be able to sleep better. p.s. wonder why I don't get any notifcations of postings any longer. NE way, thanks guys!

Can't wait to hear how it goes, I hope I get a fill as well on Fri. I am trying to reprogram my mind, and reading everyone's suggestions has really helped.

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

I hear ya, food seems to be on my mind all the time. I had a stressful day at work, and I used to come home and eat before bed (midnight). So proud of myself, though, I stuck to my usual, eat some cottage cheese and some veggies. There is nothing in my house to pig out on anyway, but I agree, old habits are still there, and gotta find another outlet for my stress.

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

That is exactly what happened to me. I was happy with losing one pound a week and I just went past the one month mark, and have gained a pound, but I thought maybe I was not getting enough calories. I have my appt on 10/16- maybe I will get my first fill and not be so hungry and tempted to eat even more.

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

Hi everyone!! Had to play catch up. There was another birthday party at work yesterday, and I did not have any. Yeah. I did too much on Friday and tore open my incision and it bled for several hours, and when I woke up yesterday there was blood all over my PJs. I think my clothes had been rubbing on it, so I wore bagging pants to work yesterday. I know about the nasty comments, when I went out to a restaurant with a supposed friend, she said (in front of everyone) dont take her order she doesn't need to eat anything. I just said that was not very nice and let it go. For busywildmom I am worried about the holidays as well. Maybe you could scan the meal, and find something you could eat such as the turkey that was mentioned, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes. That would be enough to fill you up. Drink lots of liquids. If you filled up on soft foods, it might not even look like you are dieting, and maybe no one will make any comments. For LisaA your advice is spot on. I have a luncheon the day after I hope is my first fill, and that supposed friend will be there. It is difficult to brush off nasty comments, but I think once they see we are getting healthy and their sabotague is not working, they might leave us alone. This girl at work has stopped asking me if I want cake or ice cream (been back at work 4 days- and there was 3 parties). Adding more protein and food did help with my exhaustion. I am eating around 1300-1400 calories a day now.
  16. Hi my inspirational exercise buddies!! I am going to work out today before work, UGH. Yesterday I did not work out, I pulled something on my incision and bled for several hours and when I woke up yesterday there was blood all over my PJs. I had some tests on Friday and I had to lay down and get up 4 times, on the table, then I went home and worked out. I think my clothes had been rubbing on my incision. So when I went back to work yesterday I wore something really baggy and periodically looked at my incision. I am going to sit down tonight and get an exercise goal. I have a weight loss goal of 1 lb a week, so I should have an exercise goal too, especially one where I start weight lifting as well. You guys are keeping me going.
  17. I had been back to work for 3 days, and today was my day off. I had to fast and have blood work taken, then I went grocery shopping. I was so very tired today, fell asleep on the couch and just now woke up. I guess I needed the rest, but I did not work out. So tomorrow it is, I won't go more than one day without working out. I'm still tired, so going to bed.

Good you are going to contact your dietician. That is exactly the symptons I had. My dietician told me I needed to eat a bit more, and if I added any snacks to ensure they had at least 15 G of protein. That really did help with my exhaustion level.

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

Today I went grocery shopping. In the past, on grocery day, I would buy myself some treats: ice cream, cookies, pizza, chips and dip, etc. Once a week then, I would have something. This week I can have meatloaf so my treat was a Healthly Choice meatloaf dinner, with potatoes and corn. What a difference. I thought about creamer for coffee, but said nope, not worth it: 25 calories a tablespoon. Well I am off to make my frozen dinner, can't wait!! I am trying to set up my new pedometer, it took me 15 minutes to get it out of that plastic wrap! Grrr.

I got a letter today from Met Life saying my claim was cancelled due to not receiving info from the doctor. Will call them tomorrow because Dr's. Office promised to send everything off yesterday. I have 180 days to file an appeal, so I should have time (sheesh if the Doctor can't fill out the paperwork in 6 months there is definitely something wrong - hahaha).

Beet carrot juice?? Sounds interesting. Glad you made it, I went grocery shopping today and it was difficult not to buy some ice cream, or creamer for the coffee. We have to do this for our health and our families. Keep up the good work.

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

Thanks for telling us! Wheeh a load off my mind. I think I experienced some restriction today (for the first time). I had some baked beans and all of a sudden I kept burping, like it wanted to come back up. I sat there for a few moments then had to swallow some water, as I didn't want to barf. Let us know how going back to work went, I follow on 10/15 hopefully with my first fill too.

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

There is a bit of redness around it, but less every day. Thanks for sharing. I told my manager I was going to come in with sweat pants, as the band on my pants was sitting right on it. It will be a month post op for me, and I still have the dermabod on. I will give it another week- my next appt is 10/15 and keep a close eye. Thanks for calming me down.
  25. I found you guys!! Wow you all are an inspiration. I have been on nights since Jan so have not really exercised much at all this year. I was so exhausted, and after many tests, found out I have thyroid disease and have been on meds since Jun and my energy level is improving. I bought a treadmill to have it ready when I had the surgery. I am up to 14 minutes a day, slow speed, but it's a start. All of your recovery must be shortened because you were exercising prior to surgery. Maybe in a few months I will have enough energy to take yoga or work with a personal trainer too. The hard part is exercising before I go to work, as I don't get home till midnight. And today is my day off, so I will promise you guys I will work out today, no matter what!!
