Have tried EVERYTHING to lose weight over the years. Have been on every diet imaginable with initial successes but the weight eventually came back, usually with "friends". Last "diet" was Atkins, I lost 102 pounds in 2 years, with this diet and exercising 7 days a week. But I couldn't keep up the exercise at that level and of course the diet went out the window and the pounds started coming back. I gained 63 pounds back within about a year and a half. Then I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I already had hypertension and arthritis in my knees which was being managed fairly well with my weight loss, but of course started bothering me when the weight came back. I also have depression and I binge eat (don't purge, can't stand vomiting). My psychiatrist first suggested weight loss surgery, then my coworker started talking to me about it, then my doctor suggested I look into it, so I did. I went to the St.Mary Center for Surgical Treatment of Obesity. Everyone there seemed to understand my problems and Dr. Naim was great to talk to, answered all my questions. I went through the evaluations and David got me authorization from Blue Cross within a week and my surgery date was scheduled for August 17th. I had the LapBand placed on the 17th and the surgery was much less painful than I thought it would be! I was back out of the hospital within 8 hours. I was 233 the day I went into the hospital and my goal is 140!
