I have always been bigger than average. I am about 5'10" or so and a lot of my family is big. I was a size 18 for YEARS. Lost weight in my mid 20s, met my husband, gained some back. Had two beautiful girls and gained more. I was gestational diabetic with my children and started to develop regular diabetes after having my children. After a visit with my doctor, I was put on Metformin and Lisinopril for my blood sugar and blood pressure. All of this at age 34!!! What a wake up call! My two aunts had weight loss surgeries done in 2009 - one gastric bypass and one band. Both were insulin dependent diabetics which was the same road I was going down. They both left the hospital on NO medication. I was banded on December 3, 2009. All went well. I then changed jobs, had to earn sick time, bought and remodeled a house, all with having only one fill after surgery and very little restriction. I was in denial. I had a fill on September 1, 2010 that was a little much and I learned more bad habits - eating "around" the band. I couldn't get anything to go down except things that I shouldn't eat, but that didn't stop me. I have lost very little to date since the 10 day liquid diet and post-operative diet.  I had a little taken out of my band on Friday, October 15, 2010 and have felt better about being able to eat stuff that is good for me.I think I am closer to the green zone, am in a beautiful new house near my family in my home-town and can now focus on making the "new" me! Can't wait to post some big changes on here!
