    Outrageous Octobers

Hello from Scotland! Loving the age range on here and so glad to meet others being banded in October. I'm having it done on October 13th - not unlucky I hope :rolleyes2:

Made to feel guilty by Family Doctor?

Thank you so much for this thread. I found lap band surgery through the internet and have my op on October 13th in Glasgow through the hospital group. I went to my GP to discuss it after I was approved by the Hospital Group surgeon and my GP totally approves. I have to say though, that he has no knowledge whatsoever about lapband surger and I am shall be his first patient to have it :-) He does know of the bariatric surgeon who has a great reputation here in Scotland and he knows of my co-morbidity and yo-yo dieting so he really is a good GP! My bmi is 34.5 and I kept thinking I should do this myself - it's great to see the postings on here - giving me confidence to go through with the ops despite my fears, which, I guess most everyone had. But the waiting............ :-)

Less to lose slower weight loss?

I am due to be banded next month on 13th October. I need to lose 42lbs which does not seem a lot but all my life I have lost and gained weight having been up to 196lbs with a height of 5ft 2ins. My bmi is 34.9 but there are related health issues which my surgeon is concerned about. I keep feeling, despite my diets over the years, that I could do this myself and am a bit afraid of the banding to be honest. My surgeon is very ethical and I know he wouldn't do the op unless he feels it is essential. I'm just so worried about the life changes....... Any one out there with any comments on this please.......

the emotional part after the banding

Thank you for posting this. I'm due to be banded next month and I keep thinking of all the food I think I won't be able to have. I'm eating every meal as if it's my last and have put on three pounds this week. This site is great for understanding more about the whole process.
