I never really had an issue with weight while I was growing up. I had a little tire around the middle, but never over weight. I was always athletic and so even at 140-150 was thin for me. I always was active. I had fertility issues and the medications (oral then injectable) made me put on weight (highest at that time was 203), but when I gave up hope of having kids, I concentrated on losing weight again(150-160) and then, finally, got pregnant. I probably gained too much weight maybe 40lbs and then seemed to lose it right after having my son, but then staying home and having the baby not be active and me not being active, I put weight on. I decided that I needed to lose the weight again and succeeded in losing about 30-40, but then got pregnant again. I had gestational diabetes with my second and put on a lot of weight, but this time it was more fluid in my belly than actual fat. My face, arms and legs were all skinny, but my belly was HUGE! I had my baby girl and again, lost the weight fast, but again, being home with the baby gave me the lazies and I put on weight. I would lose a little and gain it back plus some, then lose a little and gain it back plus again. Then had to have an emergency hysterectomy in 05 and that was it. I continued to put weight on be it from depression or hormones or both and it just continued to climb and my normal weight was around 232. I would try every diet known to man and it would work for a minute and then the second you stop, the weight comes right back. My husband lost his job and we had to move in with my parents and I ballooned up to 250. I have been at about 250-255 for the last two years. My knees ache, my back aches and I cant even roll over in bed without losing my breath. I finally decided to talk to my doctor about the lap band surgery in October 2009 and he fully supported me. I went through my insurance company to be sure to follow all the rules and it still took over 9 months to be approved because of medical reviews. Even though I was over weight and headed down a slippery slope, I did not have high blood pressure, only slight sleep apnea and no diabetes. They finallly approved me and I had my surgery August 25, 2010! I am ready for all my life changes and challenges to be healthier!
