  1. O.K. I was banded on August 14th. I came home w/ no pain, no gas pains, no complaints at all. I went shopping and walked about 3 hours or so on Saturday and did the same on the following Monday. I got up on Friday morning after the surgery, and everyday since then, make beds, sweep, mop, wash/fold and put away clothes, scrub bathrooms, cook for the family, you name it I do it. I have never had so much enery. My hubby keeps telling me slow down, relax, your doing too much. He offers to go out pick up the meals for him and the kiddo......great support. Maybe I should be taking this time to be lazy! I say all this to say, if it wasn't for the restriction and the incisions, I would be wondering if I hadn't "dreamed" that I had the lap band. Now, four days after surgery I did get the pain in the shoulder. Gas X helps that. I have not been able to get much in at all, liquids is all. Today I do have my desire to eat something sweet. I was a big sweet eater before being banded. This past week it seems like a miracle that I do not want them. I only get 230-300 calories a day. I am down 16 lbs the day before surgery. I was only required to do liquids the day before surgery. I plan on getting more protein in and exercise starting tomorrow. Hope all of you who do have complaints w/ pain feel better soon. 252 starting weight 236 8/25/06
  2. Good Luck tomorrow Josie, I do not know about those drinks. I just knew I had liked the medifast from a year or so ago and I will be going w/ that. The pudding is great too.
  3. That was the same for me, the day before clear liquids, and nothing after midnight the night before surgery. My surgery wasn't until 2, so I was pretty thirsty. No, problems to speak of and I feel great. Although I am having a time getting down liquids. Well, I can get them down, no vomiting or anything I just feel full to the brim after only 1 ounce. Good luck to you on your surgery.
  4. Oh, girls........I can't believe you can get in that much liquids. The morning after surgery I started documented what I drank. Starting at 7 am on Friday morning and ending at 7 am the next morning was only 21 ounces of apple juice and water. Now for the next day which started at 9 am to now which is noon was only 11 ounces of juice and water. I just can't get anymore in. Just and ounce at a time fills me to the brim and can't push anymore down. I will be calling the doc in the am, am concerned how quickly you can get dehydrated. Weight loss for me since the morning of surgery has been 10.5 pounds. Only fluid I know. I do have a little loose stool. I feel fine otherwise, I cook for the family (which is a miracle I do not have the desire to eat w/ them)I continue to wash, make beds, I even went shopping yesterday for 7+ hours of walking, now that was in a mall, strolling, and taking about 3 breaks.
  5. Hey, I feel great. No pain, tenderness, etc. I don't even have the gas pains everyone talks about. I am having a hard time today getting in my fluids, where yesterday I did better. It will be interesting to see the changes in all of us that were banded on the same day. Good Luck to you and I hope you are at ease soon.
  6. Hi all! I was banded on the 14th. All went well. I did have to stay a little longer because I couldn't urinate. After they flushed 3 bags in me I finally did the deed. I feel fine but full to the brim. I have only been doing water or apple juice. One ounce every 30 minutes or so. I find today that I am miserable w/ pressure and could care less about putting anything in there. Has anyone else been experiencing this? My vision is blurry, I have been told that they could be from the eye ointments some doc's use. I recall the nurse saying they used one. Thanks!
  7. Glad you are feeling so well. It can never hurt to stay awhile. I say get pampered while you can!
  8. Hello! I am not nervous about the surgery, just nervous about not waking up. I have a six year old, so I kinda obsess about that however minimal the risk is. I have had 6 surgeries in my lifetime and only the last two of those even concerned me. Simply for the fact that I did have a child w/ those two. Also, having to anticipate the results for the biopsy for cancer. It would be great to keep in touch. If I can be of any support just ask. Liquids for me start tomorrow, and then of course nothing for the day of surgery. I had my blood work and EKG done yesterday. I didn't even think about not getting a chest xray. I know several who had to have one. I guess my mind was on the brain scan I would be having later that day. That was not related to the lap band test though. So surgery is a go unless my results for the scan are not favorable. Those results come in tomorrow. Good luck to you and will be in my prayers.
  9. Hi Paula, I'm here in Carthage Tx. Do you mind me asking who is your surgeon? I am using Babineau in Tyler. He only requires liquids the day before surgery. I am thinking I will start them on Monday though. Couldn't hurt.
  10. Congrats on your surgery. I'm glad you are feeling so well. I will go on the 14th, so it was good to hear of some one so recent feeling so well. Surgery is like childbirth, after time you forget how bad it really hurt! So I have often wondered on the older bandsters maybe that they had forgotten just how bad it could've been.
  11. I am scheduled for the 14th. I too do not have a liquid diet except for the day before. Keep me posted on how you are feeling.

    Surgery August 14th

:wink2: That would be it! It's funny how I speak in slang but type proper. It's also funny to my 6 year old how I correct his grammar, but he catches me in the Texas slang!

    Surgery August 14th

Hi to all. I will be banded on August 14th. I am in Texas. My doc is Dr. Babineau in Tyler. He only requires liquids the day before surgery. Good luck to you all!
  14. Thanks for the advice. Hey could you tell me how to ad the ticker thingy?
  15. I will be banded on August 14th. My doc only requires a liquid diet the day before surgery. Should I maybe start before that since I have pigged out now for over 3 weeks knowing I won't "get to have" the good stuff I love so much. SWEETS! Now I have 5 more pounds I will have to lose, and with 11 days of regular food I'm sure the # will climb. I mean while I am making a dessert, I have on my mind, ooh, I better make that banana split cake next. I have a problem I know!
  16. Just wanted to say hello and become a member here. I have been reading post for a while now. I am scheduled for the band on August 14. Excited and truly ready to start out on this new path. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
