wondering if you would share your results at 6 mos. post op?
mnmommy07 replied to sarahh1828's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 months post-op and have went from 240 lbs to 191 lbs. I was in a size 22 pants and now I'm in a 14. Tops were a 3X now an XL. Its a tough journey with many ups and downs, but its so worth it in the end. -
August Rush in bandland!
mnmommy07 replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! This journey has it's ups and downs. I've gained too over time a lb here and there, but it does come back off. -

I am one who threw up two times after surgery. That was with getting meds in my IV to prevent it too. I woke up in recovery and told the nurse I was going to throw up. Her response was, "no you're not, you don't have anything in your stomach to throw up" Well, I did and I knew it was coming. They gave me more meds right away and felt better after that. While up in my room I threw up again. More meds kept coming, and they had to send me home with a patch behind my ear. I was afraid of throwing up after the surgery because I didnt want my band to slip from the start. Just make sure you tell them you need a patch and meds in your iv during surgery. Best of Luck!

Yesterday and now today yet I've had alot of stabbing pain in my stomach above the port and kind of between the incision to the left hand side. It's kind of driving me nuts and it could totally not be band related. But the pain was bad enough last night it kept me awake and I couldn't lay on my left side. Anybody else ever have pains in your stomach like this? I'm hoping its just nothing. Thanks for the help!

My doctor was really easy going about me having mine done. I don't understand why some doctors want you to wait until you're older. To me, it's the wanting to change now and getting your life back rather than loosing another 20+ years then attempting to enjoy the rest of your life. why miss out on those other years if you don't have to.

Dr. Jeffrey Baker - Dr. Baker is one of the best!
mnmommy07 replied to schwartz26's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I agree. How many doctors give you their phone number to be paged if you have any problems after surgery? He did, and I really appreciated that knowing he would help if I needed it. -
I dont have any pictures of mine but I can say not to put anything on them yet. You were just banded so yours need time to heal first. Your doctor will check them out when you go back for your post-op appt. I can say now though almost 5 months later, two have lightened up, the one where the port is is just ugly looking and the one on the left hand side is really red. Just the way my body took to them I guess. The one on the left still itches from time to time too. Hang in there, they will lighten up some for you.

August Rush in bandland!
mnmommy07 replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I myself seem to be doing okay. I have finally made it under 200 pounds which was a huge goal for me. I'm currently sitting at 198 lbs with 38 lbs to go to get to my goal weight. I find myself "jogging" in place in the house since I'm home with our twins all day long. That is something I couldn't do before for more than a couple minutes. Overall, I am happier and seem to be healthier than I've ever been before. Can't wait to hear others updates! -
The Scale moved today.....
mnmommy07 replied to MaineJackie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats!!! Any loss is a reason to celebrate. Feel good about yourself! My scale is stuck on 198.2 now for a week -
As soon as I lost a few pounds I noticed the cups were getting too big in my current bras. And of course my husbands first response was, "I knew that would happen!" Right now I'm still using the bras I had because I dont want to go buy more if they go down another size. But I could safely say I've went down a cup size after 40 lbs lost. But starting at a DDD and going down is somewhat of a relief.

I'm not sure where to post this, but is anybody else having problems getting into chat? I have for a couple days now. Just wondering. Thanks!

I had one emergency csection which was horrible as far as pain goes. The only spot that was sore for me for awhile is where they put the port, other than that the pain level for me was on the lower end. Best of Luck!!

I had my last Appointment in July with my surgeon, but since he wasn't taking my insurance at the time I had to go meet with a different surgeon first. Met with him Aug 2nd and that day I got to schedule surgery, which was 10 days later.

To or Not To do Pre-Op Diet
mnmommy07 replied to ~Sabrina K~'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd do it. You need to shrink your liver, and the less painful it will be if its shrunk verses it wasnt and they had to "move" it. When they moved my liver over and out of the way I had alot of pain the day of surgery and two days after from that. So I'd say do the diet, and drop a few pounds in advance. You'll be happy you did when you see your number go down. Best of Luck!!! -
Still confused about getting "stuck"
mnmommy07 replied to Lanah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My gallbladder had to come out 2 weeks after I had my twins. It was the worst pain I have ever been in. The pain would get so bad It would honestly knock me to my knees. It went around my back, and it felt like I was having a heart attack. I went into the doctor on Friday and my gallbladder was out Monday morning. I had several stones. Please keep us updated. Gallbladder pain is nothing I'd wish on anyone. -
Surgery tomorrow and I'm sick!!!
mnmommy07 replied to mattie7632's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure you tell them, you'd rather tell the truth than to get really sick or something. But I think you're okay as long as you haven't been running a fever or currently have one. Best of luck with your surgery!! -
Pants are no longer in the 20's WOO HOO
mnmommy07 replied to Cangel76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly! I was able to buy my first shirt in an XL and finally not in the plus section. Just seems crazy to think I can finally do that. Love it though! -

mnmommy07 replied to Cangel76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations!!! It's a good feeling, isn't it? I started as a 22 and currently in a 16 but they are big so I'm ready to move into a 14. -

Second guessing myself
mnmommy07 replied to Stephy5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will always hear about the negative things before the positive things. The band slipping or erosion are few and far between. I was banded on 8/12/10 and truly believe it was the best thing I've ever done for myself. Just stay strong and remember why you are doing the band. For yourself, to make yourself healthier! Best of luck to everyone about to be banded!! -
Do you wish you brought more
mnmommy07 replied to Southern Leo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I brought a change of clothes for the day to go home, toothbrush, chapstick since you don't get any liquids right away and my lips were horrible, robe since they made me walk out in the hall during the day, cell phone and charger. -
