    Surgery Date 11/22 Anyone Else?!?!

No I have a surgeon in Cincinnati, Ohio. I went to GNC today to pick up some protein/whey powder for my post op Protein drinks. It was quite an experience! There's a lot to choose from out there.

    Surgery Date 11/22 Anyone Else?!?!

Hopefully - I won't go back to my normal which was 'nothing in moderation'. I'm hoping to be healthier in my decisions. We are brave bandsters because we are this all the WEEK of Thanksgiving..(my former favorite holiday) AND we will go through, liquid, mushy, soft...etc through the Holiday season with all the best stuff laying around. I try not to torture myself with thinking about it... but 'tis the season

    Surgery Date 11/22 Anyone Else?!?!

Hello Fellow 22nd-ers! Happy to find people as crazy as I am to do this...and we are less than a week out! I've contacted WakeupRN already because we actually have the same surgeon but we should definitely keep in touch on this thread and see how we all do. I'm on the 5-6 medifast packets a day with as much sugar free Jello and popsicles...but I haven't liked the popsicles, really. I loved carbs too so I'm really ready to eat my own fingers. Down close to 10lbs as of this morning - so I guess it's all worth it, right? Good Luck to everyone!
  4. Wakeup- you and I are having the band on the same day by the same Surgeon. That's so funny. How are you doing with everything?
  5. It's very difficult. I'm on day 4 of the pre op diet. It was considerably easier today. I didn't kill anyone (yay) Hopefully it gets better and better. I literally emailed my dietitian yesterday and was like 'Please let me eat!' but she was good and slapped my hand and said 'no, no, no!' Which sucked so I grabbed a grilled chicken breast which is bad. The truth is I haven't been eating much of the packets because they taste so awful I can't stand it! But about the cheating - Major guilt and disappointment and questioning if I had the cajones, so to speak, to do this right... Anyway I was strong and stuck through and as I mentioned - Day 4 is much better. I've lost 8 lbs so far. I think that's weird. My BMI is 45 but the results appear to be there. All I can say is It's worth it! Stick with it!
  6. I started my pre-op diet yesterday. For 2 straight hours at work, I obsessed over food. I couldn't concentrate. My body was so mad at me for not feeding it. It was miserable. Then I went home and yelled at my husband a lot (who is really happy gets to go out of town for business this week) and was pretty much a crazy person. Then I went and bought a scale because before my attitude was all 'I'm not going to have a scale- I don't want to obsess about pounds.' But soon realized I needed to see results if I was going to stick to this. I went to bed at 7:30 because I could not stop thinking about food, food, food. What are some ways you kept yourself busy on the pre op diet? I'm doing medifast so if I'm not thinking about good food, I'm thinking about how awful this food is. Thoughts? Before I go insane? Please? _______________________________________________ UPDATE! Okay I've made a short list of things to keep me busy while I'm trying not to eat. Please add if you think of anything. I'll take honest answers, crazy answers, funny answers...etc. Top 10 things I will be doing to keep me busy while on my Pre Op Diet. 1. Finish my Jersey Shore Marathon and clean off my DVR. 2. Finally learn step 2 of my 'Learning to Crochet' book. 3. Lick the empty wrappers of my sons Halloween Candy (Yeah I'm still complaining about that!! Get it out of my house!) 4. Rework my fantasy football team with players who have names that sound like food. 5. Start writing my congressmen about things I'm p*ssed off about. (I always say I'm going to do this) 6. Figure out a new secret handshake with my 6 year old son. 7. Pose my neighbors cat for photos for FluffySnowballs Calendar 2012. 8. Lock myself in my room and refuse to come out for 12 more days. 9. Put cameras all around my house and do my own version of 'the truman show'. 10. Actually do work for my job. (This is a last resort.)
  7. Thanks Donna - you're weightloss is a great inspiration. CONGRATS!
  8. CONGRATS! I'm doing the happy dance with you. An elliptical machine is a great idea! What wonderful motivation. I'll have to look into that.
  9. Thanks for you input Melissa! Glad you didn't have a pre-op diet. It seems to have worked just as well. Awesome.

  11. My diet came all prepackaged. Although I think a broth is fine as long as there isn't too much sodium in them. There is such a wide variety of pre op diets. Some who don't do it at all. Some who have very strict (I think my surgeon does a strict one). But whatever you do - don't read the 'Did you cheat on the pre op diet?' thread. It will have you convinced that it's okay to do it because the diets have such variety. But if you really want to stick to what you have - then you'll stay with it and get a head start on your weight loss. Seeing how hungry I am at this point makes me wonder how if you didn't have a pre op diet - how can you go to eating nothing all of a sudden. With this liquid diet - I will be used to having less after the surgery. I would have gone crazy if I would have waited until after the surgery to have restriction.
  12. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's isolating myself. It seems the easiest way. Day 2 is going better. I've already eaten my bar today (for lunch) and now I'm going to make some soup. I know it's all worth it. It's just tough.

    feel like a failure already!

I think you're doing great! Keep going. Those emotional triggers will get you everytime. I don't have the answers yet. I'm new in this battle too. (11/22 is my date) and so I am learning as well. I started the liquid diet yesterday and the worst part is the Halloween candy still in the house. I feel guilty throwing it away because it's my sons, but I'm know it can't stay in my house.
  14. My psyche appointment was like 10 minutes long. And it was not a big deal...mostly just history. However, my husband and I went to a few marriage counseling sessions just to prepare ourselves for my WLS surgery. She was way worse. She questioned my reasons for donig it and if I would be successful. She kept trying to find holes in my marriage even though we kept telling her everything was fine...It was aggravating. We eventually stopped going.
  15. And I'm not lost on the fact that a lot of the ads on LBT are of large sandwiches and fast food. Boy, they really 'know their audience'
  16. So happy for you congrats! We are both November Bandsters. My date is 11/22 and I remember how excited I was when I heard I was approved. GREAT DAY!
  17. DizzyGirl

    Unsure?

    Wow, Katy. Thank you!
  18. CONGRATS! Love to hear an approval...
  19. DizzyGirl

    Approved!!!

CONGRATS! I received my approval yesterday so Im doing the happy dance right there with you!
  20. Thankfully Banded 2010 is cute too :smile2:
  21. We should call our November group 'November to Remember' :smile2: Think it's fitting?
  22. Okay. It's a good thing it's the end of the day because I would literally get no work done otherwise at this point. I just called the insurance lady at the surgeons office and she was like really casual 'oh. y'up. Denied. Sorry.' and I was like '...Are you kidding me?' and about to blow a gasket and she was like 'Yes... you're approved!' :tt2: I almost had a heart attack but she was right - it makes the approval MUCH sweeter. We have my date set 11/22/10. (The dreaded week of Thanksgiving!) I'm so nervous right now and excited. I also can't believe it's real. Someone pinch me right now. I have 40 days to go exactly and a lot of preparing myself. Anyway, approval feels good. Now it feels real. :thumbup:CELEBRATION! :smile2:
  23. I am so sorry to hear this news I wonder though if something isn't right. Did you call your doctor and talk about your discomfort? They should probably check you out. I don't think it's this normal to feel that much pain a week after. I would definitely have someone look at you. Hope you find a quick fix.
  24. I am most nervous about giving up diet coke. I'm so addicted. But I also know that I can do it! It's going to be so hard.
