  4. I was banded two weeks ago today (Sept 21st) and everything has gone smoothly. The only real pain I've experienced, from the moment I woke up in recovery, was this darn gas pain in my left shoulder. It has gotten a little better each day. The weird thing is that it is completely gone in the morning, then starts hurting more as the day progresses. It gets to the point where I have to take Tylenol in order to function - but it only takes the edge off. I've been using heat on it regularly. How long is this going to continue? Is it normal? Has this happened to anyone else? I'm up and about all day at work, so get lots of walking in. Any suggestions?
  5. I was banded on the 21st, so am 4 days post op. I have the same pain when I breath in deeply, especially in my shoulder. This is gas pain for sure. I'm dealing with it with GasX strips and Tylenol. I'm also trying to figure out when I'm hungry. I'm having 4 oz. liquid meals every 2 hours for a total of 6 meals a day. I haven't had any trouble getting down 4 ounces. I was busy watching my daughter's tennis match today so didn't get in all my meals, and by the time I got home, I was feeling hunger. The gas pain is getting better every day. I actually feel terrific with minimal pain. Sure wish I could have done this a long time ago. Good luck with the pain, just give it time.
  6. I've been on Bariatric Advantage shakes for 9 days. 4 days to go, then 1 day clear liquids, then surgery on Sept. 21st. I've been doing 3 - 160 calorie shakes a day, and supplementing with low calorie organic tomato and cream of broccoli soups (70 calories a cup) which helps when you get sooooo sick of sweet stuff. Stock up on sugar-free: popsicles, gum, mints and Jello, it helps break things up a bit. Good luck!
  7. Are you drinking protein shakes? My surgery is scheduled for the 21st too, and this is my 9th day on the shakes (called Bariatric Advantage.) I've been having 3 a day (160 calories each) and staving off hunger by mixing in skim milk in the morning instead of water, then having organic, lo-calorie soups (creamed) in the evening. By my calculations I haven't gone over 900 calories per day. I've lost 9 pounds - probably mostly water though. I got the shakes through my Surgeon's office - 27 grams of protein per serving, so that helps with hunger too. Good luck with your surgery. I'm starting to get pretty nervous =(

    Can I do this?

My surgery date is scheduled for the 21st too! I have to be on a 15 day, all liquid diet, with no sugar. I've been on Bariatric Advantage protein shakes for 5 days .... 10 more to go. I was only having 3 shakes a day (480 calories total) but started adding in soy milk or peanutbutter for more calories and protein as I seemed to be feeling rather weak this morning. Also having (all sugar-free) popsicles, Jello, gum and mints, iced tea and tons of water. It's hard!! But have already lost a few pounds this week. I know it will be worth it ... you CAN do this!!!
