    May 24Th Surgery Date

Just got my date and I am getting banded on may 23rd!
  2. Okay, so I realize that this is going to sound rather stupid, but I need some help. I have always been an overweight adult. But, I also avoided the scale at all cost. Never really weighed myself at home. I also have been lucky to not be sick much. If / when I do get sick, I usually ended up at the clinics inside the grocery stores, urgent care clinics or the like, 1) because I had a high deductible plan, and they were usually cheaper, and 2) they were available when I was, rather than trying to wait for an appt with my internist. When I went to those clinics, they asked how much I weighed, and I totally guessed. My problem is this. I just went to the seminar for the lap band procedure here in town and I'm trying to fill out the initial paperwork. They want to know how much I weighed at the beginning of high school, the end of high school, etc. I have no ever loving clue! I know what size I wore, because I couldn't shop with my friends ( I was a 16/18 at the end of high school and over the last 13 years have progressed up to a 26/28). I asked the office about my issues and they said i need to estimate for the insurance company. I am SOOOO bad at that. Any ideas what an "average" weight is for sizes 18 and 22 (in college)? I'm 298 right now and am a 26.....
  3. I figured this was a shot in the dark. I had sports physicals in high school, and am still trying to locate the files, but I think my mom has them still in a file drawer some where, and I was not planning on telling any of the family until I was ready, approved and scheduled so that I can prepare myself for the "this is the cheater's way to do it" arguments.... I need to call my regular doc and see what she has on file from "back in the day" but the WLS doctor's office said to estimate now and wait to make a physical appt with my regular doc until after we hear what the insurance company actually needs... I'm just a tad under 5'6 just for reference :-)
  4. I am in the "deciding" stage as well, and am going to a seminar on the 16th... I'm kind of thinking that the band is right for me exactly for these reasons. While I am able to make some changes (I've lost 30 lbs this year with WW), I am obviously not able to make them long term, or with enough umph (I'm still 296 on a 5'6 frame) I'm hoping that a physical cue (I CAN'T eat that) will help me move on from my red light foods right now ( the red light foods are the ones I can't stop after I've started).... Maybe I'm naive, but hoping the physical cues might help me train how to move away from some of these.
