Hi everyone. I had my lap band removed and revised over to the RNY may 14. Almost 2weeks post op, starting weight 287, today's weight 271. I am really happy about my loss. I have a lot of pain still from where the port was on my lap band. They had to cut into my abdominal wall to remove it, so when I stand it takes the breath out of me. I have to admit I am struggling with my liquids. Everything is like cotton candy times 1000!!!! I was so hungry yesterday that I ate 5 small crackers, chewed to liquid and I felt so much better. I told my dietitian, and she said to not worry about it. Has this happened to anyone else???

Take biotin for hair loss. You can get it at any vitamin store. It's a chewable tablet. I took it every day with my band and my hair was fine.

Well, my band is gone!!!! I had my band to RNY bypass may 14th. In over that 1 week, I am down 14lbs. I am feeling great and happy to have the band gone. I am still home recovering, because it was 2 surgeries not one. I am walking everyday, and doing great. No more issues with pain or swallowing. Thank god... -

I was banded Nov 2010. I was doing great for the first year but I was overfilled by the NP in my office for 3 fills and began to have issues. I PB all the time. I have had 2 barium swallows since June 2012 with the second one being this past week. My esophagus is in distention. I have horrible heart burn, I cannot eat solid protien so I am living on slider foods, tea, yogurt, shakes. I have regained all of my weight and I feel like a failure. I am not happy with my band. I am uncomfortable and I need to have it removed. My surgeon wants to switch my to an RNY. He said the RNY is the best for people with reflux issues. Now, I have been completely unfilled since December 2012 due to a horrible stuck episode that lasted for 3 hours of me in the bathroom PBing......I am still tight, I have full restriction even though my band is empty. I think this just isn't the tool for me. I am so scared of the RNY but I am 40years old and I have done every diet known to man. I feel like this is my only option but I am still scared. I am waiting for my insurance to give the go ahead...yes I am stressing from all of this and the heartburn isn't helping...sorry for the rant... -

The closest doctor is Dr. Kruger @ Southcoast health systems. He is in Wareham out of TOBY Hospital. I got my band 2 years ago and everyone there is great!!!! Call them @ 508-273-4900 . From fall River he is about a 20 minute drive. Good luck -
Hey everyone =) I am just curious how the rest of you have done. I was banded Nov 15, 2010. I had my first fill 6 weeks post op, and I am 1 month overdue for my 2nd fill due to insurance issues. I am going in tomorrow for my second fill and I am looking forward to it. Down 32 lbs by the way. My question, for those that have past the 2nd fill mark, did you finally start to have some restriction and did you find the weight loss began to move along more? I was stuck at 30 lbs for the past 4 weeks, then I just suddenly started to lose again. Woo Hoo!!!!

Not a downer at all, that is why I asked the question. Thanks Honk =)

weekly lost average?
Louismom replied to rhonda435's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be post op 3 months this Monday. I have had only one fill and I am down 30 lbs. But, I have been at 30 down for the past 8 weeks, and then I stalled. I haven't moved on the scale, I had to r/s my 2nd fill due to insurance issues, and I will now get that fill 2-28-11. I may not be loosing BUT..... Tonight, I put on and buttoned my NEW size 18 jeans from Ann Taylor Loft..... The last time I wore that was over 22 years ago. So, even though I have not lost on the scale, I am deffintly hitting inches. I am hoping though with the second fill that I start seeing movement again. -
strugling 2yrs after surgery
Louismom replied to cnicholsen10's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am doing a protien shake in the AM switching off with greek yogurt and fruit . Lunch I make on Sunday so I can bring it to work and not get stuck looking for something, which is turkey chili, or turkey taco minus the shell. Deli meat with cheese. Then dinner will be fish or chicken. What are you eating? -
This sounds realllllyyyyyy stupid, but.... I just had my first fill this week, and since then, I am setting off every metal detector I walk thru. CVS, Barnes and Nobles, walking in and out. Talk about embaressing!! I have even walked into CVS with no jacket on and just cash in hand. Has this happened to anyone? My surgeons offfice is closed today so I can't ask them. Happy New Year =)

Hi Kim, I got banded Nov 15, 2010. I am down 26.5 lbs and SO happy that I did this. For me, I didn't want to TRY another diet one more time. I am 38 and have been on a diet for 28 years of my life! This has been a GOD send. I am sleeping better, moving better, I am happy, and everyone notices the positive changes. Life does not have to be a battle of weight issues. People who think WLS is an easy out, only think that because they are misinformed or just plain ignorant. I wish you the best of luck on this journey! Happy New Year, New YOU!!!!!! =)

1st fill was awesome!!!
Louismom replied to muelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first fill today. I got 4 cc's in my realize band. It didn't hurt at all, just a quick pinch and then the fill. The entire time was under 1 minute! I am on clear liquids for 24hours, which I hate, but a trip to GNC and I bought a bottle of Isopure protein water. It's not bad. Happy Banding all =) -

Louismom replied to muelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you shared, I am going for my first fill tomorrow and a little nervous. I feel I am doing great though, banded 11-15-10 and down as of today 25.8 lbs!!!! 6 weeks and I think that is awesome. I am looking forward to the fill though, because I am able to eat more than 1 cup of food. I am hoping the fill will help that. -

Banding Tomorrow 11/29/10
Louismom replied to fusionbell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck!!!!! You will do great!!!! I was banded Nov 15th, and had no appitete for the first 2 days. I was on liquids, but I did fine. To make sure I got enough protien, I was using sugar free carnation instant breakfast, with 1 cup fat free milk, and then 1 scoop of protein powder, very filling and tasted really good as well. My dietition approved all of it so I was a go. I had a really hard time with chicken broth, so one day I actually made chicken ramen noodles, and completly strained the noodles and seasoning. It may be salty, but it was a nice change. -
Designer Whey anyone??
Louismom replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Designer Whey is good, but you can find other Protein powders with more grams of Protein. I use Jay Robb 25grams per scoop, and I also use ESA Myoplex- They have ready to drink ones as well. Go to your local GNC, or Vitamin Shop and they will give you a good quality powder. -
I was also banded Nov 15th. I am doing great. I am back to my job tomorrow. I have noticed though, that if I wanted to, I could eat more then a cup of food. So, I have been weighing and measuring everything. Keeping calories and Protein where they told me to. Getting all of my fludis in no problem. I cannot wait for the full go ahead for exercise though, I have to wait per my doc's office orders for another 4 weeks, so I am walking everyday and keeping it up.

Does anyone eat anything without trouble?
Louismom replied to topazz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad those of you that are far along this journey are posting. I am only 2 weeks out, I am not over eating, or eating anything unhealthy. I just don't feel full, too make sure I don't overeat I am weighing all my food and not going over board at all. I count every calorie and all protien like I was told. I didn't realize that feeling won't really kick in until after my first fill. At least I am not worried now, and I am going to stay the course and wait for my fills. Thanks for all the feedback!!!!
