My dr. also said that if you eat soup, do it other than at meal time, or eat just soup for a meal. Sometimes soup and sandwich just go together.

I am well, not really liking this new format. I noticed you have lost 36 lbs. We are right on target I guess. The think is is that I lost 18 during the 2 weeks of liquids before surgery, and only 18 since then. I have had 1 fill and a total of 6ccs. I don't really have that much of restriction. I felt much more restriction when I first had me surgery. I am losing about 1-2 lbs per week

I enjoy reading blogs so much, I forget to post to mine. I had my surgery on 9-28, and I guess my ups and downs have been like most everybody elses. I lost 18 lbs in the 2 weeks of pre op and I have lost 12 lbs since my surgery, 30 lbs in all. My first fill will be 11-17, and I will be ready for it. Of course I have very little restriction now, so I really have to stay focused. I am new hope that this band just might be going to work. Can someone tell me how to get my picture on this blog, I would like to introduce my ugly face. Its nice putting a face with a blog.

I was banded on 10-28, weighed 354, now 326, I am 4 weeks out and 2 1/2 weeks to wait for a fill. The last week and a half has been a little rough, I am somewhat hungrier and do eat a little more, but something in your brain seems to take over, and now, as never before, when I sit to eat, I am really trying to do what I have learned thus far. For a week and a half I lost nothing, but today, suddenly lost 2 lbs. I just act differently now. When you see results here and there, it gives that extra little push that you need. I have no regrets this far, not much pain, hated the liquid phase, now I pretty much eat what I want, just very very small portions. It is the best feeling in the world to sit in front of a full order of food, and get satisfied with less than half.

I use Target's adult chewable, not bad.

It is up to you. If you feel comfortable telling, then do. I shared it with everybody up front, because I didn't want to lie. My church family is so supportive, and I have their prayers that I wouldn't have had if I had kept it from them.

Hey Marw, just wondering how you are, I have been doing really good, banded on 9-28. I have lost 26 lbs since I began the 2 wk preop. The only thing that has bothered me is the back of my neck on left side. Nurse says its from where they pull your neck back when they put you to sleep. Its been 3 weeks tho, and it just isn't getting any better. Only hurts when I am doing something. If I sit with a hitting pad, it doesn't hurt. Have you heard anyone else complain about this. Your pictures look good.

It will be 3 weeks tomorrow post op, I have learned I can eat anything, but just verys small amounts, I think my swelling must have gone down too, becaue I don't feel so much restriction anymore either. The only thing I have had any problem with is the pain in the back of my neck since I woke up after surgery. It hurts only when I am doing anything like work, the pain is extremely bad half the day. Has anyone else had this problem. They tell me its the way they position your head/neck during the surgery. I hope it goes away soon

Your hair isn't really that short, I think it looks good. But doesn't it just get to you when a hairdresser does exactly opposite of what you ask. I was banded on 9-28 and had my hair done on the Saturday before, because I didn't want all that gray showing with me laying up there in that bed. I have dark hair and always have a few light highlights, but when my hairdresser wash me out, she made the comment that I had better look at it before she styled it. I am 61 and have never been a blond, never wanted to be a blond, but I was definitely blond. She had more highlights that dark. I was not about to go home like that, go to church like that. My husband and my church family would have thought I was trying to go wild before I had my lapband. So she was able to put more dark highlights in and it turned out ok. Incidentally, I have lost 26 lbs, since the 2 weeks before the 28th, am very happy with it thus far. My first fill in will be 11-17, but so far, I haven't had any trouble with losing. I wish I could have done this 30 years ago.

My drs office required that I pay my 20% up front, but I haven't yet been billed from the hospital for their 20%. I was banded 9-28. I will be able to pay on this each month. Incidentally, I'v lost 24 lbs. since I went on my preop diet, but of course the loss has slowed down quite a bit since I am eating again. But I am having no trouble doing this. I go to eat with my friends or husband, and I just eat a little off their plate which is all I want. I am able to eat more in the morning than the other meals. Good luck to you. It is a wonderful feeling to have hope after so many years of wishing I could do something when nothing worked for me.

I had my band 2 weeks ago yesterday, and so far, I can't complain about eating at all. I go out to eat anywhere I want and try to order high protein entrees and low carb veges. And I sit down to eat, and after eating way less than half of what is on my plate, I'm done, full, completely satisfied. The way I realize I have had enough is the last bite I take seems to give a choking or a lump type feeling after I swallow it. So I just know that I don't need to eat anymore. It is the best feeling in the world to sit down and not pig out and look like a pig. I was terribly skeptical that this wouldn't work for me either, but so far, thank GOD, and of course the lapband people, it seems as tho it just might be going to work. Yes, the liquids are ruff, but so worth it, the seem to help you prepare yourself for not eating so much after you're banded. I am excited for you, can't wait til you're banded, don't be scared, it was just a good experience for me. I just decided to take it all in. You will be in a situation where you are treated pretty good for a few days. My doctor and his whole staff as well as the hospital visit was just a positive experience. I had very little pain, good luck to you.

Any September 2010 bandsters to be out there?
copa replied to pooky032281's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was banded on 9-28 and am down 24 lbs. It hasn't been hard so far at all for me. Of course I hated the liquid part, but now I go out to eat all the time, order pretty much what I want. I try to be conservative with the calories and of course, the softer things. Not yet doing hamburgers or steak, but meat loaf, baked chicken, chicken salad, even Arbys roast beef sandwich(I just eat the beef and cheese) and 1 or 2 fr fries. I don't have any trouble swallowing, and when I've had enough, that last bite is a little hard to go down. So I stop eating, which is usually 1/3 to 1/2 my plate. Sometimes I just eat off my husband's plate. It's the best feeling in the world to fill up so quickly. Just remember to eat slowly, and take smaller bites and just chew up everything really well. I was told to never eat a yeast roll and you better believe I want. -
This is my 5th day since surgery, and I do have a lot of gas. Not much for the first couple of days tho, lots of shoulder pain which I understand has something to do with the gas. Whenever I do anything other than sit or lay, my shoulder hurts. My incisions haven't really hurt at all. I miss food too. I am not at all hungry, but I will be so ready to eat (chew) again. I have lost 5 lbs since surgery, total of 21 lbs since 9-8-10. Easy to lose when I'm not eating, sure hope and pray that it still comes off when I start eating. Glad your are doing ok, and Latin Starr, sorry you had a bad issue w/pain meds.

My banding was 9-28, and so far, so good. God is so good. He made this an adventure for me. I prayed for so many years for weight loss, and it is just like He is saying, "I am ready now, it's your time." Guess my motives in the past to lose weight were the wrong ones, but this time, it's all about Him. I can be healthier and stronger to do the things He wants for me. By the way, I've lost 2 lbs since surgery, a total of 18 since 9-8. Best wishes to all of you.

I had my banding yesterday, and I would like to ease your mind if you have any anxieties. It was a good experience, kinda like an adventure. The lady at the desk in the surgery check in had this fantastic personality, and she told me all about her experience with her lap band, all good, and she was looking good, had lost 48 lbs. Nothing hurt, of course because I was asleep thru the whole thing. I was a lttle uncomfortable when I first woke up, but pain shot took care of that. Actually, I was able to do quite a bit of walking, all the sips of water went down well, and I was release today after my swallow study. I am sore all over and have some gas, but so far nothing has been that bad at all. It will all be over before you know and you will be wondering how in the world did the time go by so fast. Best of luck to you, just open your eyes, and enjoy the ride, everyone treats you like you're special.

I will be banded on 9-28 and I will be so glad to get this preop stage behind me. It has really become much easier to do this liquid thing. I will have to say that I am looking forward to eat something solid again. Anyway, I sure hope everything goes well on Tuesday morning.

Your support and My support .. two different things
copa commented on shellyh's blog entry in Blog 95605
I certainly feel your pain. I have 4 more days to surgery and I want to eat so badly. I was ok til tonight. Weekends are when we love to go out to eat. It means a lot to have support from friends and family, but nothing is like this forum. It is really great to read the same things that I'm thinking. My husband has been great tho. Bless his heart, he's eaten sandwiches ever since day one of this pre op. I sure will be happy when I can eat something again, and at this point, I don't really care if it looks like baby food. -
So I am having my surgery on 9-28 and I have been hearing about getting stuck. I am beginning to understand how that happens, and my question is how do you get unstuck. I would love to know this before it happens. I hope it never does. Can anyone help me?

Everything helps, and its good to have heads up on this, I at least am aware of what I need to do.

You have such a beautiful face now, its such a shame that we overweight can't get it in our head that we might just be beautiful whatever our size. But, I will be banded on 9-28 and can't weight. It's my only hope for better health. Be sure and post a picture when you get married in that size 12, bet you'll make a beautiful bride.

Me too. I guess we all feel the same way. I have this Bariatric protein powder, chocolate, and I won't to throw just thinking about it. I do see results on the scale tho and I just get up every morning and say, 5 more days of this, 4 more days of this, counting down helps me a lot. Banding date 9-28 Hang in there, won't be much longer.

I know you are excited about your daughters and your dress. Wasn't it a wonderful feeling to get into that size. I'll be banded on 9-28 and I am started to "imagine" that size. -
Wow, I love this, I have finally gotten use to the pre op thing, in one week I have lost 13 1/4 lbs. Really getting excited now.
