SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
SheriL1 replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just finished my puréed weeks. Try yoplait lite and fit Greek yogurt. Tastes surprisingly good and has lots of protein. I also night take protein shakes. I like premier chocolate from Costco. Best tasting!!! I have tried powders and they make me sick... Grainy and taste blah. Applesauce, SF jello pudding, and individual servings of cottage cheese (sweetened with any flavor SF Jello powder) got me thru this stage when I was on the go. -
SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
SheriL1 replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi , All, I was sleeved Sept 9. I am down 34lbs but feels like it should be more since I lost a lot on the preop diet. I am having terrible acid reflux the past few weeks. Waiting to see the doctor on Friday for my month checkup. Does anyone else still have reflux? I am taking a lot of Tums, but they only help a little. I am still on a pureed diet until my appointment this week. I would love to hear what everyone is eating? I have soup, protein shakes, yogurt, applesauce, cottage cheese, etc. I try to eat 6 times each day. One of these choices, about 1/2 cup. Other than that everything else I have tried leaves me feeling really nauseous. Can't imagine what else I can eat when my doctor changes me to "soft foods" this week. What are you all eating and how often? -
Thank you!!!!! I am 3 weeks post op and feeling really down about this. I knew to expect stalls just didn't know they happened this soon! Thank you for your encouragement. Going to go put my scale away now!
-
Same here. I am 3 weeks tomorrow and the scale has not moved... Well actually UP a little...playing with the same 3 pounds for more than a week. I didn't know this was "normal". Any ideas why? So disheartening. I am just drinking my protein shakes eating Greek yogurt and having soup if I'm out. Feeling like this wasn't worth it. Thank you for sharing!

Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

I have a trick for cottage cheese..... I really HATE the stuff. I learned years ago at Weight Watchers (ugh!) that if you add SF Jello mix to cottage cheese it really tastes good! Use any flavor you like! Don't need the whole box, just sprinkle it in until you can't taste the cottage cheese. -

I am scheduled the 9th. On my third day of preop diet. (My husband is keeping busy.... Says he doesn't want to poke the bear! Guess I have been grouchy! Lol) Don't remember ever wanting time to pass this bad since waiting for my 20 yr old daughter to be born! Tick-tick-tock. Sigh.... -

I just started today. What types of things are you allowed to eat/drink??? My doctor has all patients on prepacked "food" plan. Not very tasty but has lots of protein so I haven't been shaky today. I was worried about feeling weak but wasn't a problem today.

Hi, Nicole! I'm Sept 9 too! Isn't this great to have people to share this with?!? I am getting ready for the nutrition class... Like right now! Waiting for it to start Really nervous about this but so helpful to read that others have the same thoughts/concerns. Are you doing a two week preop?

Getting cold feet about my surgery on Tuesday!
SheriL1 replied to Thinthoughts's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I appreciate your comments. I am having the same concerns (surgery in 3 weeks though). Can't imagine exercising without having eaten much of anything! Can't imagine that amount of food giving me enough energy to do anything! I have that "panicking" you are talking about but its so helpful to know that I will have enough food to keep me going. Thank you!!!! -
Dr. Trace Curry-Cincinnati, Ohio
SheriL1 replied to Sunrise07214's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I am being sleeved by Dr. Curry on Sept 9! I have a few questions about surgery and would like to hear from the PROS! What prep did you do before surgery or wish you had done beforehand to help out after you got home? How long before I can go back to work? I have a 9-5 desk job. Does Journey Lite offer support groups or are you on your own after its all said and done? Sheri~ -

Well, I am scheduled for Sept 9. Haven't been on here for a while, but would like to keep up with you all. I have an embarrassing question. Most of you are posting your weight loss and your goals. I am thinking a lot about the surgery, but right now I am not interested in checking my weight. I did a 6 month supervised "diet" for insurance. Didn't lose much, but lost enough. Lol! Now I am trying to sample.... or rather eat my fill of..... everything I LOVE. Envisioning that I will never get these things again. Am I the only one eating like crazy the last few weeks before the pre-surgery diet starts????? I guess I am having a lot of fear about the whole thing and this is how I am coping with the dramatic nature of the whole thing. Getting my stomach removed! Eeeeek! Anyone else? Sheri~ -

Yes Kelly I am pretty concerned about the diet. I have gone one day with liquids at times and always feel very weak. With my doctor, I hear they push special protein options like protein jello? Haven't been to the class yet but I know the protein thing should help some. I also understand the weight starts to come off quickly? And that keeps people encouraged. Guess we will see, huh? I'm trying to take one step at a time because I know this is right for me right now. I'd be curious to know anyone's age? I just turned 50. Anyone else doing this late like me? Sheri -

Hi I am a September sleever. Surgery set for September 9. I am feeling mixed emotions, but mostly excited! Just wishing I didn't have to wait! Would love to have a buddy or two to chat with along the way. Let's do this thing! Sheri -
Thank you, Ladies. Your thoughts really help!!! I am reading now.... and probably I shouldn't... about all the folks who are sick and have problems after getting banded. Do you have any regrets? Any REAL people you know you have been miserable after getting it? I have one friend who is happy with hers, but no other experiences to go on. Just doctor's "facts" in seminar. Any more thoughts you would be willing to share on this NEW issue I have? Thanks soooo much for listening! Sheri

I am considering LAP-BAND® surgery. Really having spiritual questions. I am wondering if getting a LAP-BAND® would be a statement to God that I don't trust in him to free me from this sin of gluttony. I have run this race for years...30+...success, failure, success, failure. All of it trying to learn from Him and holding close to Him. Each time learning more about myself and his faithfulness to me. Beyond the "wanting to look good" phase. Now at 46, just wanting to be more productive and not hurt... knee pain, sleep apnea, depression. Wondering if God is wanting me to move forward with this (I have already attended meeting, etc.) Another hang up....I have to self-pay. Hubby very supportive and always smart with money. Is this being a good steward? (I know all the medication, eating out arguements, but still have college costs, etc. on the horizon.) I ask all of these things in humility and with sincerity. Not judging anyone for their decisions, but trying to seek God in this for my own life. I would welcome any comments or prayers. Thanks, Sheri
