Lap Band to Bypass in Mexico?
swissmiss62 replied to forabetterlife's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I would find another dr in your area. I'm sure it is very frustrating having to wait but personally I would not have surgery done in Mexico. Their hospital standards don't come anywhere close to what we have here in the states. -
From what I understand people that had the gastric sleeve put in are still able to eat things with sugar but those that have the gastric bypass cannot eat foods That are fatty, greasy or have things with refined sugar such as cakes, cookies, soda ect. Because it will cause Dumping syndrome

I have the lap band at this point till I get a revision but the reason you are getting the "slimiest" is because the food may not be moist enough or you didn't chew well enough.

I originally had Dr. Simpson do my surgery. was treated very well up until my insurance paid and they recieved my 1000.00 dollars for their fees. Then I had a hard time getting into see him for appt. or would be sitting in his office waiting for an hr past my appt. only to actually see him for 5 min. I made the choice then to find another dr. I am know seeing Dr. Debarros and am very happy with him. Wish I had done it sooner. -
I tried these the other day and they were very good.

I too would love to have a soda every once in awhile. Unfortunatly my dr told me it can cause bloating and I put myself at risk for my band to slip. It's not worth it to me. I think if you get use to drinking water and teas you will eventually not even miss the soda and in the long run you'll feel better.

Its been 5 weeks since my surgery and I have only lost 10 lbs. starting to get discouraged. I don't eat any junk and watch my portions and don't drink with my meals. How on earth is it that people lose 20 -30 lbs in the 1st mo. Believe me I have plenty to lose.

Thx for the comment. I know that that is the way I have to look at it. I knew going into this that it was not a quick fix.I am eating allot better which for me is a big thing and starting to feel better as well. I also think I need to stay off of the scale. That little device seems to be a downfall for so many. Thankyou.

Three days post surgery, and I'm freaking out...
swissmiss62 replied to MediaGurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got banded 8/10/10. I went through the same things you did. I was nauseated for about 1 week. I'm not the type to take in just liquids which made me sick to my stomach. Hang in there it gets better. I'm getting ready to start eating soft foods in which i'm looking forward to. I think that the first few weeks are the hardest but look at what the results will be in the future and it will all be worth it in the end.
