:help: I am from Pa. I had my surgery in Baltimore Md. 2 weeks ago and I feel so stressed because I think I failed myself. I am 61 years old ,253 lbs. on 11-21-06 and today 12-5-06 I am 247, because I felt so hungry in my 2nd week I have been having some solid foods. I hate myself for cheating, but I ate and didnot feel any restriction at all, and I probably have ruined it for myself, help me with some info ,if I can salvage my surgery,please. thank you , makemelean in Pa.

Dear Foxygramma I am 62 and had my surgery 11 21 06 in Balt Md. I have had 3 fills from Feb 07 until June 07 and I do not even feel like I had surgery I have only lost12 lbs. and I also have hypothyroidism and feel like I dont burn any calories at all, I am very disappointed with this and see and hear of so many sucesses that I feel like a total failure. I hope it is very different for you and you are sucessful. sincerely makemelean

Dear nursinggal just read your reply 2 me (makemelean) I am still doing well I feel it in my clothes I will weigh tomorrow a.m. and see if I have more than 7 lbs off. It sounds like u r doing very well . It is so true the mind has to work with the band also. I feel restriction but I still feel hungry and want to eat. I am stopping tho with the restriction due to really feeling pain, and some vomiting at times. It kind of makes you afraid to eat. Have u had vomiting at times. Fellow Banders I had my 3rd fill on 6-22-07 as of this am ,6-29-07 I have lost 7lbs. I feel great about it maybe this is what they call the sweet spot.I was banded nin Baltimore Md. 11-21-06 and never really felt any restriction with my first 2 fills. I hope this continues for me . Hi and congrats to all of you who are winning at losing. I was banded 11 21 and have gained weight I have had 2 fills the first was 3 cc and the 2nd was 2 cc and I never felt any restriction so it was not easy for me to change eating habits. I have had my 3rd fill on June 22 and now I really feel restriction so much it makes me stop eating due to feeling very full . I hope this continues and I start to lose weight. I know much of this is partly my fault, I guess I expected a miracle. I forgot to ask the Doc how much He put in this time. I know I have a 10 cc band and maybe thats why I needed more fill than others. I really want to be a loser /in this way only/. Any one out there can relate to me ? Dear Edie I am 61 I had my surgery Nov 21 o6 and I am doing terrible. I only have 15 lbs off and I have had 2 fills already with no luck. I can eat what i want and dont know how to do the right way to eat. I feel like a sad failure and dont even want to look at a scale let alone get on one. Could you help me to get on the right track? Dear Fellow bandits has any one but me gained weight over the holidays? I was banded 11 21 o6 and have never felt any restriction at all to this date. I feel like I never had surgery and never went into the pureed form of foods and never felt any ill effects from this. I see my surgeon today and I am scared he is going to say I am a failure. I am scared to be weighed but I have to face the music for failing myself, could anyone relate to me on this? I feel so alone in this matter and defeated. Thanks for having this site so I could vent my frustrations and anxieties.

To white o6 and Irishmist I saw my Dr. on 1-5-07and I did gain 2 lbs. he said I must follow the program a lot better . He didnt yell and said I will get my first fill on 2-9-07. He will use an X-ray to guide him to the right spot, I sure hope that I feel restriction and fullness after that fill. I wish I could get back on track easier it is hard to do when you feel hungry. Does any one know of a good appetite suppressant? My husband says the next band will go around my throat, his crude sense of humor. I am going to my fitness center today and restarting my water aerobics I hope that helps me lose these extra lbs. Continued sucess to you both and fellow bandsters. lets keep in touch Patty in Pa. Dear Irishmist[Maria] and White 06 thank you for your response, I do feel better and I will let you know what the Dr. tells me today. I guess the band may need a fill , maybe I will get that today I hope it doesnt hurt badly. Do any of you know about what a fill may cost ? Does insurance cover it? Thanks again for making me feel not so alone .

Dear Dr. C. I just viewed the video of a fill , I am glad to know they numb it with a freezing solution be cause I feel I need a fill. I was banded Nov. 21 06 and lost 9 lbs at my 2 week visit and I told my Dr. I dont feel any restriction at all , I asked if the band could have slipped , He said no. I stayed on full liquids until Xmas and went right on regular foods because I dont feel restricted at all and I have never felt ill or nauseated with any food I have eaten since I am not on full liquids anymore. I feel like I never was banded have you had a patient like me ? I see my Dr. tomorrow on the 5th of Jan. and I have gained 2 lbs and am very scared he is going to tell me I am a failure. I am also going to have a counseling appt. tomorrow about my attitude toward food and a lot of stree I am under in my family life. I started out at 253 on surgery day, my highest was 262 10 days preop due to liquids and low carbs. Dr. C. have I hurt myself by not going on pureed foods? please respond to me when it is convenient for you , it will be gratefully appreciated. Thank you Patty in Pa. also known as makemelean

Dear Flabuless < I will see my Dr. on Jan. 5 and I have gained 4 lbs since I saw him on Dec 6 because I still feel no restriction at all and can eat what I want without any side effects at all, at first visit I lost 14 lbs. now I gained and I dont know when I will get fills, My surgery was Nov 21 06 at Baltimore Md. What is the average cost for a fill? and what is the sweet spot? I keep thinking I am the only person the band wont work for. Please help me out with some info ,if you can . Congrats on doing a superb job ,losing your weight, you look wonderful, I hope this works for me as sucessful as you ,but I am still cheating a little I am 3 weeks into banded life and have lost 8 lbs. I feel I must do a lot better. I feel very good and don't even feel like I had surgery, but my DR. said I did and I will only get a fill when I dont show any weight loss. is this true? I have a long way to go, I see my Dr. on Jan. 5 again. Take care best wishes from Makemelean

:straight dear girlinnyc I wish you the very best with your surgery, I breezed right thru it and 3 days later I was cleaning and decorating for Xmas. I took a pain pill twice and an anti nausea pill 3 times just to be sure I would not vomit. My little incisions healed very nicely and I dont even feel like I had surgery. One thing I want to make you aware of is the anti nausea medicine Zofran, my Dr. wrote a RX for 30 pills the cost was 834.00 dollars and I only used 3 pills. I was lucky my insurance paid for it but I feel like it is a terrible waste, so ask your Dr. to order 3 pills with a few refills if you need it. If I would have known the cost before hand I would have never had it filled. I am eating a lot less than I used to and am losing weight slowly. I had to stay in the hospital overnite because of my heart so I went from Monday nite at 10:00 until Wed. at 1:oo until I was able to have anything not even ice chips in my mouth, that was tough. Before they let you leave they do an xray ,you drink a chalky liquid and they look for leaks and band placement, that was yucky. Dear Shalina I had my surgery on Nov 21 06 and I was never told that my band has not been filled yet, this is why you feel hunger and why yourrestriction is not felt, and your chicken and corn soup passed thru without pain. I also have had some solids like vegetable soup and and an egg omelet, tuna salad and have had no pain and have regular bms now I am scared to death that I have ruined my surgery. I see the Dr. tomorrow for my post op check up and I am scared of what he will tell me. Please stay away from solids. I feel so bad that the hunger for solids led me to cave in, if I find out I didnt screw this up I will be the best lapband patient ever,and follow all the rules precisely. I am 61 and weigh 260 at the start I will see tomorrow if I lost anything. I wish someone out there could relate to my story and let me know if I ruined this for myself. Please Shalina stay away from solids,do your best and and let us both win this battle of the bulge and learn t5o overcome our food cravings.
