    Husband hid my scale

If it gets on his nerves, best to keep your weight to yourself. Do what I do and don't tell the hubby anthing! It takes the pressure off. We don't need any pressure from anyone. BTW, check the truck of his car. I bet it's there.

I know this is silly but...

I am wearing a tiny thin ring in front of my wedding rings that is the correct size. This keeps my bands in place. They have some really cute tiny bands out right now.

i am staying on plan today because ...

Because I am 2 years out and I feel "funny" when people look at me expecting me to be SKINNY by now!!!!! GRRRRR  I want to be an average sized woman (size 12/14). I am still in x-large top and 16 pants...frustrating!

    Be Honest....

Yes, I agree with you there bubblebut, as I have been there, but I let it happen to myself and should have called the doctor's office days before. That was my fault really. The nurse told me I would STILL have swelling even after the un-fill. That is the point I am making. You dont get better after an unfill in 60 seconds. Things don't get better right away especially if you are dehydrated and ill. If you are that bad off you need to go to the Emergency Room and get hydrated. This is a serious situation not be be tampered with on our own.

    Phantom Fat

Thanks Fordgal. What a great article! I can definitely relate to a lot of those issues. I'm also very jealous of people that have maybe 70/80 lbs. to lose and end up a size size 2. I am still in an x-large top and 16 pants and still considered obese with an over 80 lbs. weight loss, but I keep plugging away. I still have a long way to go before I will ever feel thin, wonder if I ever will.

    Be Honest....

If you reach that point where you feel you just HAVE to get an unfill right away on an emergency basis, I really don't see the point, as if you are that ill, you will not find instant relief, especially if you have been sick and overfilled for days. This does not make sense to me. The times I have needed an "unfill" were instances where it took a while to actually get to that point and instant relief did not happen. As far as not having the money to pay, I still would not tamper with my band.

    Haven't learned, not really

Hi Anexandra, Congrats on your recent fill! I think we all have starts and stops I like to call them. Not sure this makes sense, but every time we start up again we have less weight to lose and eventually we'll get there! Once we plateau it really, really gets tough. I'm in the same boat. You are not alone! This board really helps to keep me accountable. :smile2:

    Let's talk about skin...

Hi Linda, This is a good post! I would think one advantage to having PS would be to have my clothes fit better. I am not as much concerned about the loose skin because at 55 I won't be showing a whole lot of "flesh", but I definitely do not like the way my clothes are fitting right now. My seamstress suggested I do down a size in my jeans so they don't sag in the rear, and she will take out the tummy so they will fit better. Right now I have to go up a size in my jeans and I have no A$$. That would be the #1 reason I would want plastic surgery, just to be able to really enjoy my smaller size in my new clothes! We'll see, I still have more weight to lose. Time will tell, but I'm not rushing into anything as yet. If I were single, I may look at this totally in a different way.

Angry with shallow husband since Lap

I have the opposite problem. My husband has not given me one compliment after my 83 lb. weight loss. I also had a breast reduction and have been getting a lot of compliments that I look 10 years younger. What's with that?

    Should I be suspicious?

I think the girl's Mom was sending you a signal in mentioning the text messages. If my daughter was getting text messages from a nice looking married man, I would question it. Sorry, I wish I could give you better news than that, but being a Mom I could see myself doing that just to nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand. Also, if you are suspicious enough to post this question, then maybe you have something to worry about. I would just keep a low profile for now and keep my eyes and ears open until you can check out the cell phone bill.
  11. I have been on an almond kick too! I agree that they do fill me up. I buy the prepackaged 1 serving bags, you get 7 in a box. That way I don't over-indulge. I open a bag and just grab a few throughout the day because I am a grazer and I'm always looking for something! (bad habit, I know). This really helps curb the munchies. They are great!

    Struggling with emotions!!

Hi jj, This part really bites! Sorry, I wish I could say it doesn't. Have you found a good Protein shake that you like? I mean Really like. They are a lifesaver for me. I take the GNC choc. and put a ton of ice in it, put a lil Peanut Butter. It's delicious. Also, the vanilla with a ton of ice, almond soy milk and a tiny bit of Hershey syrup. I try to keep these shakes under 150 calories. They really help me a lot. Also, looking at the before and after photos on here is my favorite pastime! Hang in there, it does get better.
  13. I think if I were in my 20's or 30's I would be a heck of a lot fussier about my body, but at 54 I have to be realistic about what I want to spend my money on at this stage in my life and whether I would be doing this for "myself" or whether I wanted to look better for others. I am thrilled with my breast PS and may consider tummy tuck in the future for the loose skin, because it really freaks me out to see my belly hanging and just does not look good to me. I feel thrilled for the young women here that have lost a lot of weight. You all look terrific and I think you should definitely go for the extra skin removal. You have many, many years to live in this new body as another poster mentioned.
  14. NfL1, Isn't it true about the meals, I have nooo problem whatsoever now with eating healthy meals, it's the darn snack monster! I have said goodbye to those high carolie subs, pizza, etc. but the sweets still call out to me. :grouphug:
  15. OK, Here goes. I think the thing that is holding me back the most is eating at my desk. No a meal, I mean snacking while working. I need to break that habit and maybe being accountable here will help if anyone else wants to join in and try to work on breaking some habits that are holding us back? :crying:

    Why You Shouldn't Eat Salad

Thanks Luluc! Congratuations! 10 months - WOW! Thanks for the pointers. I know I need to work out more. I work 7 days, 50+ hours a week, so a brisk 2 mile walk for me being almost 55 years old is a lot, but I'll keep trying. They have a kickboxing class I may try at my center. I wake up exhausted every day, but my morgage has to be paid

    Why You Shouldn't Eat Salad

For those of you who have lost 100 to 120% of your excess weight, I would like to know what your typical food log for a typical day looks like and your age/fitness level. I know that not only diet, but exercise fits into this equasion salad or no salad, Protein or no protein and our diets should be adjusted accordingly by our nutritionist. This is a very PERSONAL thing and our diet shuld be tapered to OUR own particular lifestyles. That is what we pay our doctors for. Whether anyone else agrees or not is moot.

    Why You Shouldn't Eat Salad

Lonestar, I totally agree with you. I don't get it. It's common sense with our smaller pouches to not fill up on salad (icebeg lettuce expecially) and have no room for our Protein or carbs. Why is that so hard to understand???? He's not saying eat ALL protein, just don't fill up on iceberg lettuce that has not value...jeeze!

    Why You Shouldn't Eat Salad

Protein first (hard protein preferred) has always been the rule at my clinic along with a well rounded diet of fruits, veggies and grains. I was under the impression that protein stayed with you longer and you felt less hungry. I also read that your body works harder digesting protein, thus burning more calories. I don't always follow this. If I feel like a small bowel of Cereal in the morning with skim milk, I have it. This post made me curious, thus I found this on Web MD. Can a High-Protein Diet Help You Lose Weight Participants in a study recently published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported greater satisfaction, less hunger, and weight loss when fat was reduced to 20% of the total calories in their diets, protein was increased to 30%, and carbs accounted for 50%. The study participants ate some 441 fewer calories a day when they followed this high-protein diet and regulated their own calorie intake. Another study, reported in the Journal of Nutrition, showed that a high-protein diet combined with exercise enhanced weight and fat loss and improved blood fat (lipid) levels. "Our research suggests that higher-protein diets help people better control their appetites and calorie intake," says researcher Donald Layman, PhD, a professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. "Diets higher in protein [and] moderate in carbs, along with a lifestyle of regular exercise ⦠have an excellent potential to reduce blood lipids [and] maintain lean tissue while burning fat for fuel without dieters being sidetracked with constant hunger." Researchers don't understand exactly how protein works to turn down appetite. They surmise that it may be because a high-protein diet causes the brain to receive lower levels of appetite-stimulating hormones. "We are not exactly sure of the mechanism for satiety, whether it is due to [eating] fewer carbs and/or the specific protein effect on hunger hormones and brain chemistry," Layman says. And more research is needed before experts can make sweeping recommendations that people boost the protein in their diets, says American Dietetic Association president Rebecca Reeves, DrPH, RD, an obesity researcher at the Baylor College of Medicine. "I think it is fascinating and intriguing, yet we need the evidence that higher-protein diets are more effective over the long term," Reeves says. How Much Do You Need? We need protein at all stages of life, for a variety of bodily functions. It's the major component of all cells, including muscle and bone. It's needed for growth, development, and immunity to fight off infections and protect the body. The Institute of Health's Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) recommendations allow for a wide range of protein intake -- anywhere from 10% to 35% of total calories -- for normal, healthy adults. For example, on an 1,800 calorie diet, you could safely consume anywhere from 45 grams (that's 10% of calories) to 218 grams (35%) of protein per day.

    Countdown to Onederland!

Hi Melly, 202 is the new 200! lol... you are close enough! I think we are concentrating on that exact 200 mark. You could possibly weigh less on another scale! What if we reach 200 and the next day were are 201? what a thought. Just give youself a break. You will get there. You could have some fluid build up. A lot of the posters here say they can have a 3, 4, 5 lb. variation at times. You sould like you are doing everything just perfect.

    Countdown to Onederland!

How are we all doing? I wanted to bring this thread back up to the front! Nurse Melly, you are so close. I started walking this week. Trying the give this weight loss thing a boost! I am still at about 212 - 214 depending on thd day , but I have eaten a few things (well more than a few) that were not good choices this week.

    Why You Shouldn't Eat Salad

I do not disagree with Dr. Vuong. I think the wording could have been better. He explained the darker the greens the better. That is a good point. The high calorie dressings are bad, I agree there. Tomatoes are good, I agree there. Eating a salad "first" and filling up on iceberg lettuce is not a good thing. I agree there. He makes a lot of good points. I think it just depends on what you define as a salad. There are a lot of salads out there full of calories and some of the fast food salads, like Wendy's taco salad...paleeze! Some cheese slices, sliced tomatoes on a bed of lettuce, nothing wrong with that and I am getting my Protein. I think he meant not to fill up on too much salad if there is no protein in it before we get to our main course.

    Been Awhile..Super PO'D!!!!!

I would as to see the OP note. I am a medical transcriptionist and many mistakes are made in patient's charts. The OP note should give you the exact band name. He very well could have decided to go with another band during the procedure and that would be stated in the OP note.
