Oh gosh! This is going to be a fun post. I am staying tuned for further developments. I love makeovers.

Kyethra, That is a very good question. I think as we start losing weight we want thing to look better on us whereas previously if it fit, basically we would but it. That is a valid question and I was told a few months back that my pant were way too big for me in the butt...lol. I'm curious as to how others respond to this question. I think generally if it looks good in the mirror and you feel comfortable, then it's a good fit. I bought a nice pair of pants around christmas time, and now they look way too big on me. My next step is finding a good seamstress and go from there for now.

What an inspiration this is! I finally got under the 230 mark, which was really hard for me to break through and would like to join the challenge. Hopefully, you will all inspire me to make it to the big one!!!!

I don't have an opinion one way or ther other as far as teens having this surgery because it is such a complex issue. All I know is something is terribly terribly wrong with teenage weight issues and I don't blame the person. I think there is a lot more to this weight problem including the additives in the food, not enought exercise and our body's metabolisms. Research needs to be done of this and quick!

Silly Question - Comfort Eaters
maryrose replied to FatButNotHappy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I have been banded since last April. The thing with comfort eating is that with the proper restruction, you will not be able to put as much of that food away. If I do slip, it's maybe 2 or 3 Cookies, where before I could put away a heck of a lot more than that. As you start to lose weight you will feel more like exercising and moving around, and that is a major part of it too. I hated to exercise because with all that extra weight I was in a lot of pain, but as the weight disappears all that will change and the new you will emerge. Also, you just feel so much better sticking to a healthy diet. The less you eat all the way around is better for you. Hope this helps. -
Hi jpayton, I'm sorry you are going through so much stress. I had my little pig out yest. We all have our bad days, just pick yourself up and keep going. If I find myself snacking too much, I throw whatever it is I am having a problem with in the trash and try to keep it out of the house. Just don't get discouraged...you can do it.

No eating after 5:30pm Challenge...anyone want to join me?
maryrose replied to Leena's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did fall off the wagon this weekend..lol. I like my popcorn when watching a movie on Sat. night, but other than that I have been pretty on track. I think it's working out very well, as once I start the snacking at night, I start to graze way too much. So, I'll post my verdict when I weigh in Tomorrow morning. -
HarleyNana, You look Fabbbbulous! OMG...you must be thrilled. You should be very proud of yourself and your new girls! Keep us posted. I go for my consult in about 2 weeks. I can't wait. Thanks so much Harley. PS: I'm 53. If you can look at great you really are in inspiration.

Hi Harley, I'm sure there is still a lot of swelling. Are you at your goal weight? Good luck with the new bra shopping! You go for that angel bra!I can't wait for that either. I bet your posture have improved too without the extra weight.

Hi HarleyNana, This is a great post! Hope all is going well with your healing. I am going for a consult in a few weeks for a reduction. Did you go with the large C? I still have more weight to lose, but wanted to at get in and get this thing started. My daughter is getting married in Oct. and I want to get this over with by the end of June at the latest. I am 5 foot 7 and even when thin I am pretty meaty, but I don't want to ever be a D or larger again. I just hate thee things!! I know it sounds terrible, but I want them gone...lol. I hope she will give me the C that I want.

It's getting a bit better, but 9 months out, I still have issues sleeping on my stomach. My port is pretty high up and I think that might be the issue. The nurse at the doc's office recommended a soft/squishy pillow and this has worked wonders. I can't sleep without it. I would not say it hurts to sleep on my belly, just feel the pressure and don't want to push it, so I prefer the pillow.

No eating after 5:30pm Challenge...anyone want to join me?
maryrose replied to Leena's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Leena, I have done this in the past and it has worked very well. If I can have a protien drink at night I'm in. -
Josh, Isn't it frustrating? I get good retriction for about 2 or 3 weeks...then bam....i know right off the bat when I eat my morning oatmeal...oh..oh....it all went down to darn well... I almost feel like I don't even have the band anymore! Great feeling, as we went out to a function last night and I actually ate a good deal of food...but BAD...BAD.....lol. Sorry you are going thru this, but glad we are not alone and can support each other. Jack..you Rule like the Dickens!..lol..Love your posts you bugger. Hope you continue to keep us ladies amused.

What is Perfect Restriction
maryrose replied to want2beme's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Want2b...jee..I forgot to answer your question...lol. Yes, I believe you will know when your restriction is right for you. Unfortunately I seem to get there..then lose it for some reason after a few weeks. I am calling the clinic Mon. as I feel I am eating too much. -

Metalband, I agree with you totally...Jack you rule! I just adore reading his posts! lapband poetry it is gosh dern it!...lol -
I know the feeling. My last fill made me too tight, so they took 1/2 of that fill back out. Now I'm back to eating too much. grrrr...... I don't know what to do at this point. I'm guessing it's not an exact science and maybe they can put just a teeny teeny bit back in? I hope so, because I'm getting discouraged and my weight loss has really slowed down.

Feelin' down and frustrated need support, please
maryrose replied to jfran's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jfran, I really feel for you! Give yourself a break and let the band do it's work for YOU for a change. I really think you need to stop beating yourself up...and get yourself a fill...just a small one. It may be just the thing you need. -
Did losing weight make you look older?
maryrose replied to BobbieDoll's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh gosh, I have been worried about this! I have been taking extra good care of my skin during this process. I sure hope it works! -
coastlgrl, I hear you! I am in the same situation. I don't think of it as sabotaging ourselves, but rather maybe the novelty has worn off...I am a little tired of my shakes (I hate to admit that). It is almost like I need to take a little hiatus...then start in all over again. I was banded in April and the Holidays really threw me off. I am a little over halfway to goal. I think a big problem (for me anyway) is the fact that I don't have any weigh-ins anymore. I don't have to go back to the clinic for 6 months, unless I need a fill. Where is the motivation in that? I really need to be accountable to someone at this crucial time in my journey. Do you have regular weigh-ins still? I thing that is soooo important.

Yes, alwayscurious, stress does a number on this band. When I am under stress, I try to eat the least amount as possible and stick with my Protein shakes. I have had a couple of "incidents" happen while driving. This is not fun.

not taking my vitamins! Why do I hate taking care of myself????
maryrose posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HELP! :cry I don't know why...I just can't seem to get myself in a routine doing the things I need to do. I don't know why. I anyone else like this? It's not just my Vitamins, its my meds too! It's like I don't want to or are unable to get myself on a good schedule..or HATE doing good/healthy things for myself? What's with that???? Its almost like I feel that I don't deserve to do good things for myself...hard to explain. -

maryrose replied to maryrose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you all for your help. It's almost as though I am being "stubborn" about it..I just don't know why. My mom was the same way..she was terrible about taking her medicine. Thanks Telecia...I will look into that. :cry I am a terrible "procratinator".....I think that has a lot to do with it. -
If I'm going to fall off the wagon ....
maryrose replied to Mrs SmartyPants's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't beat yourself up. I was on an ice cream kick a while back...you sound more in control than I was. when I saw the scale not moving..I smartened up. You did great! gosh..I would have gotten so SICK on that burger..I can't eat hamburg at all. -
wombat, My port is high up there too...I don't like that it's that high. Doc did mention that he would move it if I was uncomfortable with it that high. I can feel it when I lie on my side and still have to have a squishy pillow there when I'm sleeping
