I am a grammar nut (fav. class in school), but does not mean everyone else has to be. On the net you take what you get and move on! I don't let those things annoy me.

I did the "on purpose" rash thingy and got approved for my breast reduction surgery. Have not had the surgery yet. I took the good advise from this board and did not dry off the scented soap underneath for 2 days consecutively! Result..a nice red rash! Sounds awful, but it does work. I felt kind of guilty when the PS was telling me what to do for the poor rash at my consult, and she mentioned at the consult to make sure my GP has this documented in my medical chart. It helps if you know you are going to want this type of surgery to start complaining to the doc and have them prescribe something for it.

Congrats! It is a great feeling. I'm still in the 16/18 wide sizes, but I'm loving it. Hope to more over to the misses Dept. soon! The misses X-large size is really not very big! I think I maybe able to squeeze into a size 18 regular size. It's weird isn't it? I can't seem to adjust to getting smaller clothes. My best friend thinks I'm nuts wanting to hold onto some of my older clothes. She said "go buy new stuff!!!!"

HELP!!!!!!!!!! I am losing my long hair by the handful.
maryrose replied to Freebird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi freebird, It might not hurt to trim it a little bit. A good trimming always makes your hair a little bouncier and not so heavy. It could be just breaking off at and the ends, but you could be growing a decent amount of hair. The anesthesia does a number on your hair also. Between the anesthesia and the weight loss, it raises heck with our hair. Try a good condition and give it a little more time. I am almost a year out and I still go thru phases of losing my hair, then it slows down a bit. I find the weeks the scale goes down a lot, I will lose more hair - unfortunately! It should slow down. Stress definitely does a number on your hair also. When my mom passed away I lost a lot of hair. The doc said it would take about 3 months for my body to get over the trauma to my system, and that is exactly what happened. It does get better. -
I just wanted to add that any weight gain could mean we need a fill, don't you think?
-
Gosh musical, Reading your post, I can definitely relate to where you are right now. I have lost about the same amout of weight and am in a similar slump. I have about 40 lbs. more to go. I am down about 65 and think my body is giving me a little grief! Do you think You need a fill? I am thinking I may need one.

Preparing a nice dinner for my family was very soothing to me. Just working with the food was comforting to me. Also, a nice, hot bath works wonders! I make a whole spa night of it! Facial, body scrub, mani and pedi, deep conditioners, lotions..the works! It takes up the whole night, it is very relaxing, and I feel great afterward. I also like renting a good DVD. I make myself a cup of skim milk hot cocoa, and settle down with a good movie. I am sure I will continue to find new things to help me get through those tough days. Citygirl, I do the similar thing with the spa night! Instead of eating I am trying to turn that around and instead of putting the food in my mouth, just pay a little more attention to myself. last night I colored my hair, manicure, deep conditioned, lotioned up, watched - get this - the best one yet - The Thornbirds! And I also looks at clothes online, kind of daydreaming about what the new me will look like in smaller sized clothes...whatever works!

Gosh Sue Magoo, Congrats! You are doing terrific! Great weight loss. Have you been exercising?

Just curious, do you find writing down on this post helpful in losing weight? I thought,WOW, what a great idea. If I have to be accountable on this board, maybe I will behave myself! I am going to give this a try. You guys are all so great. I have been not so good lately. I hope this will help.

When you have a craving what do you do???
maryrose replied to ebonie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Also just wanted to add that I keep my frozen diet treats in the freezer in the basement. I have to make the extra effort to go down there and get on. I also keep any sweets on my husband's bureau for him. That way he can tell if I have been into them. -

I know, that's a tough one. I thought maybe of having a donut once a week and look forward to that. If you crave chocolate, I agree and have a little bit. Just get a candy bar. I can't handle having any "bulk" food in the house and I have throw it away. Why torture myself. -
I started using Rogaine early on because my hair was already baby fine and I didn't want to go through all of this and end up with excess hair loss. I was a little hesitant about it because once you start using it, I don't think stopping is an option, but neither is being bald! I got a compliment from the girls at work the other day telling me my hair looks a lot thicker! I was thrilled. Also my hairdresser turned me on the Halo brand mouse. It's wonderful. The first few times she did my hair with it I went home and thought..WOW...I have more hair! It's a great product.

The doc did my first fill. OUCH! It hurt like heck and I was afraid to get another. My doc does not do them all the time. The nurse at my clinic does them all day long, she is much better with them. IN my case, the nurse is actually much better!

SATISFIED, but needing some assistance
maryrose replied to BandVirgin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A site that is great for Protein drinks is Vitalady.com. These are for bariatric patients and have a lot of protein. I buy a lot of samples for variety. If you feel hungry a lot, you are probably low on protein. when I get like that I mix a little peanut better with my choc. shake. Really yummy. Just be careful, I read that when we are too tight, we take in more calories that you think with the softer foods going down easier and drinking high carolorie Meal Replacements. If you drink a lot of Protein Drinks, I would stay away from adding too much milk and just add the Water, but have more of them during the day. That is what I do, less carolories and you can have more of them. Yogurt is a good snack and no suger added applesauce is good also. -
12 Steps of Overeaters Anonymous

Is the wheat/sugar free a requirement of OA? I went to a few meetings, but life just got to hectic to continue. I never go to start the step program. I remember them saying no artificial sweetners either. what is a typical day of eating like gluten and sugar free? Can someone give me a sample day's diet? Thanks. I defintively have food cravings. I do have to say, though, that weigh-ins really seem to help me. If I have to be accountable to someone on that dreaded scale, I somehow manage to lose. For that reason, I may look into WW. thanks. -
I just want to add that I have lost over 60 lbs. and I don't think ONe person has asked!!! They don't even comment! How do you like that????
-
Hi Angie, I have not told a lot of people either. If anyone asks, I am just going to say I am on a Doctor supervised program at a weight loss clinic - end of story. If they ask about the hospital, I would just say, yeah, they had to rule-out medical conditions first. That is my story..and I'm sticking to it. Hey, if they are nosy enough to ask, I feel that the answer will be what I feel like telling!

Ta, another thought..did you push too hard trying to lose more weight for the wedding and totally stress yourself out? I vomited non-stop on my wedding night...all night long.....worst episode of my life from stress. It will do a number on you. I say get an un-fill til you feel better.
-
TA, How many calories are you taking in a day? Are you taking your supplements. I had a conversation one time with a receptionist at my Doc's office and she told me she could never get the band because she had "vaso-vagal" episodes whenever she got sick or vomited. I wonder if your band is too tight and you are having these episodes. I would definitely let your bariatric team know you are not feeling well and go from there. They need to find out what is wrong with you. You could have an underlying problem with the fevers not even being related to anything such as sinuses, etc. I say get a little un-fill and see how you feel for a few weeks. Are you still losing weight? Are you getting enough rest?

I knew this would get your attention. My pj bottoms tie at the top and I am unable to adjust them because the tie got knotted. Well, the other day they just slid right down..and I'm thrilled.
-
Thanks Edie and Sue. You both have done terrific. Waiting to lose more weight and have other stuff fall off...hopefully in private! Gosh..imagine having something like that happen in public...lol.

Weight Management Ctr. at Lowell General Hospital is really good. Where are you at? This is not far from NH, about 20 min.
