    Good or bad?

I have the same problem and I am going today for an unfill. I can only eat bites and I am vomiting that up immediately. My husband almost called 911 because he thought I was having a heart attack the way I was holding my chest. My poor 3 year old son doesn't want me to eat because food makes me sick. Hopefully everything works out for you:) and me
  2. Ok, I am in the pureed stage. i went out and bought all the stuff the nut said. I have canned salmon, chicken, cream of chicken and mushroom soups, yogurts, applesauce, malt o meal. Now what do I do with it. I was thinking of salmon, but with what? I would def. chew it good, but do you guys have some recipes. I haven't been horribly hungry since my surgery on Thursday, but I am starting hear a grumbling voice in my stomach. I even bought the lite miracle whip. I mean do I put the chicken with the mayo and have just that? Hmm are crackers permissible? I think this surgery is starting to get REAL. Honeymoon is over, I'm about to kick butt with some recipes for the next 2 weeks with your help
  3. I have been experimenting with Protein Shakes and have made a really nice one if anyone wants to try. The recipe follows: crushed ice 8 oz skim milk 1 banana (mine was very small and brown-my mom friends says ripe) 1/2 unfinished strawberry yogurt (low fat) 1 scoop of dymatize vanilla Protein powder I blended it all in the blender and it was good. I did have a slight taste of protein, but my 3 year old son loved it. I gave him a taste in his own cup. Very Tasty and I think I can survive with this. Now I have to see how much protein seeign as how I gave my son some. 24 g for protein 8 g for milk 2.5 g for yogurt (I only used about 1/2) 34.5g total ( not bad for about 2 drinks ) I will drink the rest later today. Now lets see how long it takes for me to be hungry again. Hoping I can go 2.5 to 3 hours.

    CREAM OF WHEAT/MALTO MEAL

I was banded on 2/17 and they gave me that the next day. I stayed overnight-they gave me juice and broth that night. In the a.m. they gave me the malt o meal and milk. I really didn't eat it because I was not hungry. My schedule was 1 day of clear liquids (I was in hospital), 1-2 days of full liquids, 2 weeks of pureed, and 2 weeks of soft. I definitely need help with the pureed stage because hubby is grinding all food and it is not tasting good. Scrambled eggs pureed is not good! I ended up eating my sons eggs and chewing them really good. Malt o Meal sounds good right now (licking lips)
  5. What are some good soups for full liquid phase?
  6. Whew! I needed you guys yesterday when the site was down. My mind is ready for the surgery, but my body did not catch up. I was doing fine at work then suddenly while I was teaching my k5 students how to write a letter on a chart tablet my back spasmed and I almost hit the floor. I could not move some students thought I was being silly. My more observant students were like are you okay Mrs. B? I told them I needed a chair---my one sweetie swung my chair to me from across the room and two other students helped me get to the chair. I was in pain. I could not walk. I rested for a moment and was able to walk shortly after. A teacher gave me 2 tylenols and I was able to finish the day. Fast foward---I think it might be stress. At night I started feeling better once I was passing gas and emptying my bowels. This a.m. too. I report for surgery at 11. Do you think my body is nervous, but my mind didn't get the message? Well I'm checking my bag again. talk to everyone once I get out!!!
  7. What are some good ready made protein drinks and the powder protein? At my nutritionist mtg today the girl just skirted around saying I'd have to try some. I just wanted her to give me an idea...some names so that I can go in the store with some idea of what I'm looking for. Heckie...this is life transforming.

    February 2011 Bandsters?

I too am a February Bandster. I am so excited I can barely contain myself. I will have surgery in exactly 1 week. I am running around getting stuff together to make sure I am prepared~groceries, protein shakes, bras, heating pads, and meds. Is there anyone else getting banded on the 17th???
  11. My surgery is next week Thursday and I am trying to be super prepared. Please help me in making sure that I have everything that I need. So far I just had my ice maker hooked up to provide ice chips. What else do I need? If you list really good protein drinks or specialty soups make sure you tell me where to get it. I will be having my nutritionist visit the day before surgery (the winter storm stinks) and will have just hours to go to store and relax. Thanks for all the help!

Thanks everyone! I'm on my way to Vitaman Shoppe to buy the Gold Standard double chocolate and the Designer's whey vanilla. I h ope to get the Premier Nutrition brand as soon as my friend who has a Costco membership gets better. What flavors are best just in case I have her buy it?

    Tasty Soups?????

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Singing... I will survive as long as I have my Bandsters I know I'll make it through I will thrive, I will thrive, I will thriiive
  14. What is Phenergan? For pain or nausea? I thank all of you so much. I had my preop appts this morning and they are so impressed with how much I know and the level of questioning asked. This is all possible because of all of you guys here. I don't post much, but I sure read your comments and they HELP me. I will say that I don't remember anyone stating how miserable I would be during the Upper GI. They made me do crystals and barium. I was sure I was going to gag (and they were too), but I held it together. Now I feel sorry for my students because of all my burping and passing gas. I guess I'll just have to stand next to one of them and twirl my nose or blame it on the chair or floors. Teachers you know what I'm talking about I'm just kidding...there is one boy in my class everytime I DO pass gas say, "Mrs. B was that you?" I politely reply honey that must be the chair squeaking. When he gets older he'll probably think there was always an odor after the chair squeaked... I am rolling over laughing at myself. I don't know what has gotten in to me. Maybe they took too much blood.
  15. The list so far is... Gas X strips Heating pad Lip balm liquid Tylenol slippers pillow contacts/glasses hair scarf/comb frozen fruit snap front bra sugar free pudding/jell-o broth soups (please recommend some for each stage) nausea medication sugar free popscicles/fudge bars
  16. I normally buy bras from Lane Bryant. Do they have snap front bras? I hate wearing bras with wire anyway, they always leave marks on my skin.
  17. Thanks. I have a blender like that, but I need to get the frozen berries/fruit. Thanks so much.
  18. I was hesitant to call my insurance because I didn't want to seem over anxious...but I have called everyday. I was trying to fight myself not to call today, but my nerves got the best of me. They said I was just APPROVED this morning. I am so happy. No, ECSTATIC! Well, let me go and call my docs office to schedule pre-op and surgery. Who dat girl gone have that surgery? Who dat? Who dat? Who dat girl that's gon lose those lbs? Who dat? Who dat? I can't even think about ...and I am a teacher. Let me get focused! Bring it in, bring it in. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Is the Carnation Breakfast Drink with no sugar considered a Protein drink for post-op? I sure hope so. I made my first chocolate one today and it taste so good to me. I will definitely be drinking this for my weekday breakfast until surgery. I'm going to time how long it takes for me to think I'm hungry. I wonder if the vanilla taste just as good? Maybe I can add fruit and ice milk chips to make it like a shake. I'm just trying to figure some things that will work post op because my surgeon does not require pre-op diet, and I don't want to figure out afterwards what I like and don't like. My sister had a different wls and had a horrible time switching to sugar free and the rest of the post op diet. She had VBG done and I really don't see a change in her diet...but she is losing weight. I just hope she doesn't gain it back.
  20. Congrats on your approval... I hope to follow shortly after (They were telling me 10-30 days also).
  21. Yesterday my drs. office sent (faxed directly to a nurse) my paperwork to Aetna for approval. Do you think it's to soon to call to check status? I don't want to irritate anyone and make things take longer.
  22. 3 month multidisciplinary or 6 month physician supervised weight loss. I chose to do the 3 month program which entailed 3 nutrionist visits, 3 physician visits, psych eval, 2 yr weight history that detailed 40+ bmi, documented weight loss attempts, documented physical activity and food journaling, and that's about it. I can't recall if I left anything out.
  23. I called and...it is PENDING. I'm not surprised, but I did learn that my docs office put that I would be having surgery Feb. 23rd. They didn't tell me that. I guess its just a date they put in for approval purposes. Oh well.
  24. What a week! I would like some feedback about my situation. Here it goes...When I first started this process the Bariatric Office said that they would be able to pull my records. Well, I find out yesterday they can't because doctor office is no longer a part of their affiliation. Needless to say I call my OB office to get weight records because I go there yearly. By the way, I requested these records in September and they only sent me results to HIV Test. I called them back then and they were suppose to mail my complete exams to Clinic. Needless to say they didn't. Well, I talk to the medical records lady today and tell her that I am coming to pick up the records because I need them ASAP. No Problem. Well, when I went to pick them up at 3 p.m. (I needed to pick up before 5 because she will be gone) and walked out of the office with the sealed envelope my natural instincts told me to open the envelope. Sure enough, this woman has put 1 record in for 2010 and has left for the day. Needless to say they knew I drove out of my way to get these records so the assistant on duty went to get my file and proceeded to copy everything from 2008. But wait, THERE IS NO RECORD FOR 2009! What the hockey sticks am I to do? So, I called my Family doctor's office to see about getting 2009 records. The lady told me it would take between 2-3 weeks. Mind you I only saw this doctor once in 2009 and was a new patient. Is it that hard to pull 1 record that should still be in my chart seeing as how I don't go but 1 time a year? Ughh, the lady in my OB office senses my frustration and copies records back from 2006. THE BIG QUESTION IS DO YOU THINK I SHOULD HAVE HER SUBMIT FOR INSURANCE AUTHORIZATION TOMORROW WITH HEALTH RECORDS FROM 2006-2008 AND 2010 AND 1 FROM THIS YEAR? I would still get 2009 records just in case we need them. For your information I have AETNA.
  25. OMG it worked! I was able to get my 2009 records today and have them faxed to clinic. I didn't do or say exactly what you said, but just the mention of HIPAA had 3 people trying to locate my records. Come to find out the old clinic I use to go to was bought by Aurora and they still had possession of my chart because they gained everything when they bought them out. So i'm at my doctor's new office and they call Aurora to tell them to prepare my chart immediately because I was on my way. My doctor's office also tried to say Aurora is backed up all the way from September with getting records. Fast forward 30 minutes-I am at Aurora's office (my doctor's old place) and the girl tells me that people are not getting their records because my doctor's office is failing to pay the fee that is required to get the records and they declined the negotiated price. All this stress for nothing. If they would of told me to pick the records up in September I would have had them because my doctor's old office is 5 minutes from my house! Oh well, I hopefully will have everything submitted to insurance on Monday and get a speedy reply.
