I had my first and final meeting with my surgeon (Dr. Chua) before surgery. I am very excited. The only thing left to do is wait for his office to submit my request for authorization to my insurance (Aetna). Most people who have my insurance say they were notified in a couple of days if it was approved. If this is the case, I could know before the end of the week. Woohoo!!! Now the only thing left to do is find a new primary physician because my old one just moved to Texas before the last month of my finishing my requirements. (I was able to see her partner) I am disappointed that she did not write my letter of necessity before she left and I will have to use the one from my OBGYN that was less than stellar if I may say so myself. I wanted to curse her out and say "Why the He.. didn't you use the form letter that was provided?" My previous doctor wanted me to facebook her my progress. I want to facebook her to let her know that I do not appreciate her stiffing me and filling my head with high hopes to only be let down again. She better hope I get approved so I do not have to facebook her my dilemma to progress. Sorry for the Bipolar moment. I am just so anxious and will be pissed if these doctors who were suppose to do their job (they were paid by insurance) mess this up for me

How long should I take off work after surgery???
jblady posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whew! This process is moving along very fast. In September I became interested in WLS after I was deathly afraid for my sister to have VGB WLS. In the process of researching I came across Lap Band Surgery and decided this was the most logical WLS out there for me. It definitely seemed much safer and could help to address the issue of overeating (even the good foods). My apprehension of my sister getting WLS actually helped me to choose WLS, what a turnaround. Well my reason for posting is to ask about how long people normally take off work after lap band surgery (or will be taking off). I have read in posts from days to 3 weeks. I have finished my 3 dietician visits, primary physician visits, psych visit and have solid support from all three. The only thing I am waiting for is the surgeon to call me after the team has approved me as a good candidate to schedule our appointment. After that I wait for insurance approval. They told me it would be about a month before I get a surgery date. I am a teacher and am trying to plan the surgery date to provide as little disruption as necessary. I can't wait until our spring break because our board and union agreed to change everyone to a different insurance as of April 1st. Do you think it's possible for me to take Thursday and Friday off right before a Monday mid-semester break day? That would be 5 days off---it really would be nice if I could have the surgery Wednesday afternoon! What do you think? I was trying to have all my appointments done before Winter Vacation, but appts wouldn't line up. I don't want to tell anyone at my job, they gossip way too much. -
I am totally starting to draw a blank. I have my first meeting with my surgeon next week Monday. I wanted to be prepared with some questions I had, but my brain has totally frozen. Can you help me resurrect my brain with questions that I NEED to ask?

My surgeon office called today to schedule my appointment with him. This will mark the end of Pre-Op appts and time to get TESTING prior to surgery. What does the surgeon visit consist of? They told me not to eat for at least one hour prior to the appt. for some test. I am so excited...

Hello All, I have just started the process this month. I went to the seminar on 9/1, went to see my PCP on 9/21 (will see again tom. 9/28 for tests). My question is I want to have the surgery before the end of the year, so what steps do I need to take to complete the 3 months versus the 6 month authorization period? I called to talk to them (Aetna) but I was transferred 3 times. I need 3 visits with nutritionist/psych eval/ and what besides that...Do I have 3 visits with surgeon and/or 3 with PCP? Any help will be appreciated... Ralpheal
