Hello all,I am in the beginning stages of WLS. I am opting for the Lap Band due to having the least amount of complications of WLS and the fact it does not physically change the anatomy of my body. I do not side against RNY because I know people who have had this with amazing results. It is not for me at this point in my life. I have been battling with my weight since I was about five years old. I have been on all kinds of diets and approaches to wieghtloss. For the last 3yrs of my life I have been trying to understand why I have gained so much wieght by reading books, seeking therapy and attending only one I will admit Overeaters Anonymous. What need does this weight provide me? Protection? Boundary? A sign that says FU? Is it a symptom of something missing? Do I just like food? Is it a learned behaviour? Well, as of now I have discovered it is a hoodini in disguises, food and the resulting fat can apparently where any of these hats. Food can even disguise itself as being a comforting friend and turn around to make you feel worse then you did from the start. All I know is it has been a very painful, confusing and relentless journey. I have finally come to realize it is ok to get some help and I am not weak for getting this tool. Well, I hope to gain support and to provide any useful insight since this can be a difficult and exciting journey and one that should not be taken alone.Sincerely,Nymadusa
