    Low Energy

I actually just talked with my surgeon today about this. I am having the same problem. I am going to go have some labs done, an iron level, B12 level, vitamin D leve, and a blood count (hemoglobin). Maybe check to see if you can get some blood work done.
  2. I was banded on August 30. I have lost 40 lbs so far and am extremely satisfied with my results. I did a 5K two weeks ago and since then I have felt so fatigued. I have still been going to the gym, but I feel like my muscles just aren't recovering. I was thinking that maybe I wasn't getting enough calories, so I started to eat a bit more, but now I have moved to eating really high calorie foods. I do know that I have been maintaining my protein intake of at least 60-80/day. I don't know what to do, I still feel so fatigued. I don't have much restriction, so I can eat just about anything which is frustrating also. Any advice? Thanks!

    Struggling

Thanks for the suggestions. I think that I am going to see if I can get some labs done and I'll start writing my foods down again. I was writing, but then the weight was coming off so nicely I stopped. Guess it's time to start back up! Thanks!
  4. I am still eating too fast, will anything bad happen to my band by doing this? I have never PB'd, but it only takes me 15 minutes to eat a meal. I was told that it takes 30-40 minutes to eat after the band. Am I doing this right?
  5. I do small treats every 10 lbs that I hit. I went to get a pedicure once and went to a museum that I have been wanting to go to. When I hit my next 10 lbs I am going to buy a stocking hat that I really want. I may get a boob lift when I get to my goal weight, but I'm not sure yet.
  6. Hello, I was banded on 8/30. I had horrible diarrhea and cramps after surgery for about 2 weeks. It is normal to have diarrhea, seeing as how you are only getting liquids in. I started mushy foods a little early and I found out that I am lactose intolerant as well. Hopefully the diarrhea doesn't last too long!
  7. I literally eat protein mushies all day and I'm still hungry
  8. Okay, I have a question... I was banded Aug 30 and had a 4 ml fill on 9/14. Before my fill I really did not feel hungry at all, but now that I have had a fill, I am hungry frequently. I was told to only have 1/2 cup of mushy foods 3x/day and a snack if I am hungry. By doing this, I am only getting in around 700-800 calories. I am still feeling hungry while following this. Is it ok to add another snack? Is the 1/2 cup thing because that is what my pouch should hold? Thanks so much for your help!
  9. How many scrambled eggs can you/should you eat at a sitting?
  10. I went in for my first post-op appt today, and surprisingly got a fill! I wasn't expecting to get one this soon! Feeling pretty good so far, but I'm actually hungry. Before today I really hadn't felt much hunger. Weird! I'm a little nervous though now that I actually have something in my band, I'm worried I'm gonna go overboard and end up vomiting. Erg! My surgeon was happy with my weight loss, I just hope that it keeps up!
  11. Could I get the recipe for the turkey taco soup?
  12. I have come to the conclusion that I am lactose intolerant right now. I wasn't before surgery, which kind of bums me out, but maybe it will go away. Has anyone else dealt with this? My real question is that I now have to have soy protein because the whey upsets my stomach. Do you know of any good ones, I got the GNC brand vanilla flavor and it tastes terrible. I added half a banana so that I could manage to get it down. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

    Soy protein?

Thanks everyone! I found a soy protein shake from GNC that makes my stomach happy. It doesn't taste too good, but I'm not getting the cramps like I was before. I had no problems pre-surgery with the whey protein and skim milk, but post-op it has just been horrible. I get these horrible cramps and everything else that comes along. What is with all of the gas that I have now?
  14. Wow, that is quite an accomplishment! Keep up the good work!
  15. Congratulations on your weight loss! That is definitely an accomplishment to be proud of! I hope that next August I can say the same thing!
  16. Congratulations, that is so awesome! Make sure to reward yourself for that accomplishment! (but not with food!)
  17. Brian, Good luck with your surgery. Make sure to get moving right away, even if the hospital doesn't push you to. It will help the gas pain. Sugar free jello is also a wonderful thing!
  18. So I had my band placed on August 30. I am still feeling horrible and I was wondering if anyone felt the same way or if I should be concerned. Everytime I drink one of my protein shakes (which I had for 2 weeks pre-op with no problems) my stomach gets really upset and I start to cramp and then it seems to go right through me. I have gotten to the point where I don't even want to drink them because I am afraid of what will happen. I have tried immodium, mylanta, tums, and gas-x. I am getting so fatigued and frustrated. I broke down and had a yogurt last night and it went down really well and my stomach felt ok. At this point I am totally regretting having this band placed. Please help!

    Please help!

Thanks for the encouragement! My port was bothering me a couple of days ago, but that has pretty much subsided, or at least I am not focusing on it!

    Please help!

Can you let me know what your doctor says. I am going to give mine a call tomorrow, I have no energy because I am not even drinking my shakes now because of the pain I get with them. Ashley

    Diarrhea OMG!!

I am also having diarrhea after every shake as well. I had to do liquids for 2 weeks before surgery and I had diarrhea at first, but I added benefiber and it helped. Now postop I started having diarrhea so I added the benefiber and it continued, so I contacted my dietician. She told me that the benefiber could be adding to my diarrhea, so I stopped it. I have also switched to lactose free milk and I've tried immodium, mylanta, tums, and gas-x. I am miserable, when I have diarrhea it's not like I just go. I get cramps and you can hear my stomach growling from across the room! I am to the point where I don't even want to have my shakes. I am so fatigued, I don't even know what to do! I have started having a yogurt daily (even though I am not supposed to) and that seems to help calm my stomach. I hope this goes away soon, it is getting old quick! Hope maybe you are having better luck!

    Please help!

Thank you both for your kind words and encouragement, I sure did need them!
  23. Hi Jonesmrn! The gas pain is pretty much gone, although now I am having intestinal gas pains. I had a horrible night last night, my dietician seems to think that I may be a little lactose intolerant right now. So, today my stomach has been growling like I am hungry, but I haven't been able to get much of anything in, nothing is sitting too well with me. My incisions don't really hurt too much and I am having a little more energy, so that is good! Hopefully things will get better through the weekend. I have to say though, that this journey has been so emotional for me! I never could have anticipated this! I would love it if you would keep in touch with me to let me know how you are doing!
  24. Hello everyone! I was banded on August 30. Feeling pretty good so far, a decent amount of gas pain, but other than that I feel good. I have to say though, it is weird for me when I am drinking. It's almost like I can feel the liquid stop for a minute and then go all of the way down. Did anyone else experience this? Today was only post op day 3, and I am starting to get a little protein down. I was drinking isopure today, and I had a glass of milk. I will be doing clear liquids with protein shakes for 2 weeks and then I move to mushies for 2 weeks. Hopefully I will get through this!
  25. I was also banded on August 30. I am having a decent amount of gas pain in my shoulders. I have been using a heating pad which helps while it is on. Lots of walking too. I tried the gas-x strips and they taste horrible and I didn't notice a big difference. I have been burping quite a lot, which is uncomfortable. Also, it's a weird feeling when I drink anything, it's almost like it takes a minute to go from my esophagus into my pouch, do you notice the same thing? So excited to share this journey with you!
