None of us have failed. We just have hicups along the way. What works for one might not work for another. We all have bad habits we have learned over the years and now because we have a band that it's going to take care of our years of issues in just 2 months? Not. I takes guts to do what we have done and will do. When you trip and fall we don't just lay there and not get up. We fell, so we get up, readjust ourselves and keep going. Use that stone (bad habit) not as a tripping stone but as a STEPPING STONE. Then Step on sister, step on!!! We -

I just go home from having my 2nd fill. It went better than last time. I now have 2cc and I can tell I have more restriction. I stopped and got a cup of egg drop soup. My Dr says nothing to eat or dring after mid-night before the fill and liquids for 24 hours after that. -
Yes Tann, please share!! I got my band in April and all this is kind of new for me. I'm going in on Tuesday for my second fill. The first didn't seem to help. I can guzzle water and eat a meal with no problem I just eat less. If you can share how I can loose 17# by July 4th I'll join in too! I'm already walking 3 miles a day and at least 5x's a week.

I've had this strange pain/sensation on my right side since Sunday. I thought I had some how pulled a muscle as I was walking. Then I thought it was gas. So I haven't walked for a few days. Today I called dr's office and spoke with the nurse and she said to hurry in , maybe it's the gall bladder. Long story short I met with the np and not the nurse and it was the tubbing from the band. She said that I was loosing so much weight that it had come to the surface. She the had me fell aroung my stomach and I can actually feel the whole tube from the band to the port. Then I was told that the tubbing probably was resting on some nerve and I was ok. They can go in and re-route it if it continues to bother me. For right now I say no. I'll just have to wait and see I I feel after a few weeks, it might move again and I won't be able to feel it. Strange huh? Anyone else have this feeling??? -

Michelle, Been there and done that. I felt the same way I read everything out there on the net, watched tv programs and prayed about it. I came to the conclusion that I could be talked out of anything even life if I let every person with issues convience me. You have to think about the BIG picture. Is my health at risk? Will I drop dead for a stroke or heart attack because I put too much stress on my heart by demanding my body to carry the equivalent of 2 plus 40 pound bags of manure everyday of my life. Could I carry the same 2 bags everywhere I go, up and down the stairs. When I play with my children, when I move around the kitchen cook and eating adding more pounds as I go? etc. How will I feel if I was able to drop just 1 of those 40 pound bags? Lighter, for sure, now how about the rest of those pounds? What would my quality of life be like then? At the very least lighter. Put to 5 lbs bags of sugar in to bags and carry it around the house as you go about your day and see how tired you are as you do your chores. Now thinkg of those 2 40# pags on your back and do the same work. Can't do it huh? Yet that is what you are asking your body and heart to do every single day!!! Everyone must make a decision for himself. And yes there are risks! But there are risk everyday when you take a shower, cross the street, or get in your car where an unforseen occourance could happen but yet we do it everyday of our lives. These are thoughts I had when I kept going back n' forth with what I wanted to do. and now I'm 25 pounds less and happy that I made the decision for me. Make a list of pro & cons and see what you come up with. YOu will be able to eat what you like. And by the way, I have never pb, slimed nor had the golf ball in the stomach and don't intend to, because I following the band rules and the guidelines from my dr. Well I get off my soap box now, but think ablut it and do what's best for you! -

Good morning my Shrinking Violets! I think my fill is working. Weighted this AM and found I had lost since Tuesday and I haven't even walked this week (ok bad me:deadhorse: ) I'll walk this evening at the gym when I get off work. I didn't feel much difference in restriction after the fill but it must be working. I also raised my calorie intake a little. I'm suppose to have 1200 but was only getting about 600 and I get more protein in. Isopure is a god send 40 grams a bottle and I add a scoop of powder to my ESA drink for that added kick and it looks like it's working. I'm so excited.:lalala: Have a great day! -

I had my first fill yesterday. And as I am a baby when it comes to needles I can truely say that it wasn't thqat bad. First the numbed me and after that they found my port which was about 3 inches to the left ov my navel. Felt a lot of pressure as they filled it but no pain. I was a little sore, ok a lot of sore but nothing to cry about. Looked at the area today and I have a large bruise where I was injected. I have more restriction now and I'm not very hungry and it doesn't take much to fill me up. I never did get to "bandster hell". I can't chug-a-lug the water like I use too! I'll be happy if I can see 2#'s a week off but I'll settle for anything off and nothing gained. -

I just got back from having my first fill of 1cc. and my next appontment is in 8 weeks. I was weighed by the dr.'s office and by the dietician's office and weighed different weights in less than 1 hour, so I'm sticking with what my scales said this morning, 230. I weight less at home. I'm on full liquids for the day. I have been given a diet of 1200 cal which is way more than I've been getting but I have been following my dr's plan and will stick to his schedule of eating. After 6 weeks I'll be able to add more fresh fruit, vegies and the like to my diet so I should be losing 2 lbs a week. I hope that holds true then I'll be down 38 lbs. :clap2: Gotta go and take my daily nap!!!:sleep -

Good morning everyone. I see that we are up and at again today! Nothing new with me. I get my first fill tomorrow morning. I hate needles so I'm just going to have to grin and bear it. :faint: Someone, a few thousand post ago, asked about chewable protein tablets. Found one!!! :clap2: "Proteinex" Liquid protein and tablets. From LLorens Pharmaceuticals. 1 866 595-5598 or LLorens Pharmaceutical, Home of Proteinex - Home I knos nothing about it or the cost. There is something for everyone out there to help us along on our successful journey. Hope everyone has a great day. Peaceness  -
Perhaps you need to quit reading those post. There is always a chance of complications with any surgery. Look at how many people that haven't had any complications. A very good friend of mine was going to have by-pass and when the Dr. started the precedure he found that she had a serious liver problem that could cause her death! He call in a specialist right then, then closed her up. She blamed everything on the by-pass but the truth is if she had never had the surgery (eventhough the dr couldn't complete it) she never would have know and would have died. Wasn't anyone's fault and it save her life but you can't convience her otherwise. We had same Dr. so I questioned him. Out of the thousands by-pass and bands he has done as well as in his medical practice he had never seen the disease she has and it was rare. I think we all at one point have questioned if we have done the right thing. Go over to the "Shrinking Violets" thread. You'll ge so much support there you won't be able to keep up with the post.!!!!

:update: Just a little update on me I'm down to 232 from 253 and have lost 12 inches. I have been going to the hospital's fitness center for a week now and I'm walking 2.5 to 3 miles a day which takes an hour. I've been fussing with the same 2#'s up one day and down the next. Whatever!!! I go in for my first fill on Tuesday the 15th and I'm a little nervous about that. I weight heavier at the Dr.'s office. Congrats :clap2: to everyone on your successes. (We have no failures! just trials.) -
Good for you!!!!!

Vitamins!?! Yes, yes, yes!!! Here is my doctor's recommendation: 1 month: Chewable multivitamin with Iron (1 2x/day) Thiamine ((vitamin B1) and Biotin Vitamin B-12 - subligual 1000 mcg 2x/week or B12 injectios monthly. After 1 month: He strongly recommended that you change your vitamins to bariatric vitamins. H cave a list of web-sites and the one that has the best prices was www.bariatricadvantage.com . From that site I get: Multivitamin Sublingual B-12 and a chewable Iron supplement. After 3 months: Add calcium citrate with Vitamin D ( you need 1200-15oo mg/day). Do not take more than 500 mg at a time and DO NOT TAKE WITH IRON. (Iron and calcium fight for the same absorption sites in the body) I ordered a 90-day supply the multi -vitamin and they sent samples of the flavors of calcium. I already had a supply of the B12. So I set up an automatic mail of 90-day supply and they mail it free and gave me a $10.00 discount. I ordered last Thursday and received the order today. He gave me a 4 page list of when deficiencies occur what can happen. If nyou want a copy pm me your mailing address and I send it to you. -

Enjoy the post this am. Have to go to work now. Everyone have a good day. I haven't been able to change my ticker but I'm down to 232 today and I'm doing 1 hour a day on the treadmill. I went back to the fitness center at the hospital around the corner. Since I have 24/7 access it works for me. I just go when I feel like it, Ususlly after work before I go home. Once I make it home I don't want to go out again so this is very convienent. Jennifur, I don't have children but I have a very non supportive husband that causes all kind of havoc in my life. I do understand STRESS. Just stop and breathe, breathe, breathe and tackle ONE necessary thing at a time. If you can't do anything about that one situation then drop it. You don't have to be superwoman. We both have the same personality when it comes to everyone else and I have learned to put me at the top. I felt selfish at first but now I feel so-ooo much better. I no longer have anxiety attacks that leave me on the floor several times a day. And haven't had one since December. Hang in there and remember we are all here for YOU! Just as you have been for us.
