A thread for Single Bandsters
Missy0224 replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Arria started talking to this guy from E-Harmony and he wants to meet but she's not sure if he fully understands that she is overweight (even though he's seen plenty of pictures of her) and she is getting opinions on whether she should make him well aware of the fact or just go on the date and see what happens. -

I've been there before girl. I've talked to guys online and they've clearly seen that I'm overweight but still make comments like you have a great body and I bet you look hot in a bikini. I don't get it. Why would you want to see an obese girl in a bikini? Go for it, have fun, be careful and meet in a public place. -
Are you talking about Huntsville TX, Huntsville AL, or TN?
-
Slippage is not always the surgeons fault. You can have slippage due to being too tight causing you to PB too often. It can also happen due to pouch dialation. There are no studies showing how or why erosion happens.

I want to get some things off of my chest because lately I feel like I pretty much have to be on a diet with the band. I understand it is a tool but I don't understand why people say they count calories and measure everything. Don't you think if I could count calories and measure everythng that I would have been able to diet without the band? I see some people just say they eat whatever they want just in smaller portions and then I see people say count calories. I guess I just don't understand the fact that I paid 12,000 dollars to count calories. Am I the only one that feels this way?:help:

I don't feel the way this guy does. I do exercise and I'm pretty restricted at times. I've played with the same 2 lbs for the past month or so and it does get frustrating. I'm not by anyway dissapointed in how I've done and I'm not some lazy bum that sits around and isn't active. I have so much more energy and feel great. I guess I get confused by the whole having to count calories.
-
Yes I am very happy with the weight loss thus far but the scale will not budge lately. My doctor retired at the end of July so I feel kind of abandoned even though I know he needed to do what was necessary for him.
-
I totally understand that counting calories is the key. But why should I count calories if I should lose weight with restriction alone?
-
Ok ok ok! I thought I was the only one around here that had so much fill in my band and still felt that I wasn't properly restricted. I am currently at 3.75 cc in a 4cc band. I've only lost about 7 lbs since mid July which was the last fill I had. My doctor retired at the end of July and since then I have not found a new doctor. I am very happy that I have lost 62 lbs since Nov 28, 2006 but feel that I need more restriction. Do you think many doctors will fill you to the maximum fill volume?
-
That was very well said! Great post
-
Congrats on the successful weight loss thus far. Usually the slip will fix itself with a complete unfill for as long as the doctor thinks is necessary. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Finding a boyfriend/girlfriend on LBT?
Missy0224 replied to neveragain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well he's wrong about me living in Austin because I do live in Houston but he's forgiven, I guess. Distance does suck but like he said, only time will tell.:clap2: -
I have not been diagnosed with dialation yet, but I am not able to see a doctor until the end of the month because my Doctor retired. I got some advice from someone in my support group meeting that if I feel that I've stretched my pouch to go on a liquid and mushie food diet for 2 weeks. I just started today and wanted to know, if I am dialated, and I shrink my pouch to normal size after 2 weeks will my restriction automatically come back? I'm now at 3.75 cc in a 4 cc band and don't feel much restriction and that's one of the main reasons why I feel that I have stretched my pouch. Any suggestions or comments are welcome. Thank you.

Ok are you drinking with meals, eating Protein first then carbs?
-
Ok why are you complaining that you've only lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks? A healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week. What kind of weight loss are you expecting?

Those of you that drink alcohol
Missy0224 replied to PrincessChey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HAHA! I did the exact same thing. I went to a mexican food resturaunt and really wanted a rita. It was also 3 weeks out and got real tipsy off one. I'm so bad! -

Missy0224 replied to PrincessChey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok I guess I'm real bad compared to most of you. I do drink on a regular basis, usually 3-4 times a week. I do not drink beer because the carbonation does kinda bother me. You do definately get tipsy a lot faster now. -
Dr. Felix Spiegel versus Dr. Adam Namman in Houston, Texas
Missy0224 replied to Debi's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My mom was banded by Dr. Felix Spiegel last September. Although she doesn't really see him much for her fills because she goes to the surgery center and the nurse does them. I just hear the after care is not good at all and not only him, but his office staff are rude. Hope this helps. -
I don't think it would really matter, but check with your doctor before.

For those of us who weigh in daily!!

Oh wow! I thought I was obsessed with the scale. Hey, whatever works right? -
I noticed that you've lost 12 lbs already. That's great. I can't count how many times I tried dieting and would lose nothing. To me, the yo yo dieting is pointless and I chose Lapband because I will never see myself gaining back the 60 lbs that I've lost. I wish you the best of luck with everything and thanks for being understanding.
-
Tulips, I don't understand why you would have weight loss surgery to lose 40 lbs. If upsets me so much that these doctors do surgery for just about anyone as long as they get paid. I was 300 lbs and my goal is 150 lbs. For someone wanting to lose 100 pounds+ it is understandable. I just don't think it's worth all the trouble for 40 pounds. I'm not trying to sound rude by any means so please don't take it that way.
