Thanks for slow learning, it teaches the rest of us what to do . So after the first fill, wait a couple days then try regular foods. I know, lots of protein, low carb, etc.... :nervous

I'm getting my first fill this friday 12/22. I'm nervous cause I'm on my own over the holidays. The doc's out of town for the holidays for a week. So if i have problems i just have to deal with it until x-mas is over. Probably just nerves. Anyway, hi i'm Kelley new to the bandsters pages.

I have a Honda Shadow 600. It's been 20 years since i last rode and i wasn't sure what to get but I love it. I stopped riding because i had children. But now they are 18 and 21. It's a beautiful bike . I know it's not a harley but if i continue to ride I might go for it in a few years. -
rHi Alix, I was banded on nov 10 06 by DeLa Garza in Monterrey Mexico. The same doctor. I was at OCA Hospital. You Too?

Hi All, I have been checking out this website for a month. I love it, so much info. I was banded on Nov 10,2006 in Monterrey, Mexico by Dr. Javier De la Garza. I was very impressed with him, so nice and very professional. I live in a small town called Stevinson in Merced County Calif. This Friday 12/22 i get my first fill, a little nervous, more anxious to get this thing started. Just wanted to say hey.

Check out Dr. Javier DeLa Garza. He did my band , very happy with the results. Also his assistant Veronica found a doc in my area to do my fills. Dr. Garza is in Monterrey Mexico and the hospital is OCA hospital. Good luck and just research. You will find one that suits you.

Hi Kelley, Congrats on the band. I was banded on Nov. 10 06. My Name is Kelley too, I'm from Calif. but i had my surgery in Mexico. I get my first fill on 12/22'06. I am eating practically anything i want right now. I am staying away from hard foods like chips and steak. I can't wait to start losing. Remember it is a slow process but well worth it .Take Care,

My doc didn't put me on a liqued diet either. I was happy to oblige. I even had a last supper of steak and potatoes the night before my surgery.:hungry:

Try cream of wheat and juice that helped fill me up. At 3 weeks I started tomato soup and creamed soups that really kept me going. Good luck it will be worth it.:biggrin1:

I went to Monterrey Mexico. I was very impressed with Dr. Javier De La Garza. Look him up online, also the hospital OCA Hospital . I would send my family and friends there. Only trouble was the nurses can't speak english but I brought a friend with who did. Also the cost included airfare and 2 nights in the hospital. The doc and his assistant Veronica spoke english so i was comfortable with the whole experience. -
I was bmi 38.5 so blue cross won't even consider u unless u have diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. I surely didn't want to gain 20 lbs. more to get to 40bmi. That's why i opted for monterrey mexico. I have no regrets. Lots of bandsters have done the mexico route. Check it out.

After surgery, your appetite is diminshed drastically, which is how u can do it. -
I'm 5 weeks post op. I had my surgery in mexico. I'm from the modesto area. My first fill is this friday with Dr. McKeen in San jose. My bmi was 38.5, close but not the 40 bmi required for blue cross. I didn't want to gain 20 more pounds so i opted for mexico. I'm very happy i did it. It's a two year process of losing i'm told so it's a slow process of losing. My dad had the gastric bypass at UNSF. He lost so fast he ended up very sickly. I think slow and steady is the way to go. Good luck and it will be worth it.

Hi Mitzi, Remember with the band u can only eat so much. My problem is with portion size, I will eat until i felt full which was in a restaurant = bread, salad, entree, dessert......huge stomach i guess. But with the band (i'm 5 weeks post op) went to eat 5 days ago and ate too much. I had the worst cramps it taught me not to do that again. I'm getting my first fill this friday then the restrictions really go into effect. eat too much and it comes up.......how appetizing is that?

Cream soups filled me up good and tomato soup too. Jello cups and pudding cups for the sweet tooth. Hang in there its all gonna be worth it at the end.
