Hi, Can someone tell me how to move the ticker to my own page. I'm confused. I set it up on their site and now what .....:help: please.
-
I had a great experience at the OCA Hospital in Monterrey Mexico with Dr. Javier De La Garza. Check out their web sites.

Yep, It is a trip getting your first fill. My doc said the first fill is like a primer and most gets absorbed into the band. I didn't feel alot of restriction either. I'm getting my 3rd fill this week. Hope to feel more restriction. It's strange cause sometimes its tight and at times i don't feel much restriction at all. Everyone is different tho. My doc makes me lie down and then sit up once the needle is in then take drinks of water until I gurgle............you too? :speechles

My dad had gastric bypass and lost 130 lbs. It's true my dads nose runs every time at the end of meals. I never connected it until you posted it. Strange, does it work for us bandsters? I'll be paying attention from now on.

My advice to you would be to listen to your doc and just read on and study this forum LBT. It is so informative and everyone has been very supportive. There are so many areas and topics, it has helped me alot. Also, my progress has been very slow. I'm only down 14lbs since my surgery in Nov. But i did make it through the holidays without gaining weight. So I'm happy about that. Remember that it is suppose to be a 2 year process so it will be a slow gradual loss. Keep that in mind. Keep me updated and I'll be here if you need to ask questions. Actually me and many others here;) . Take care, Kelley

I didn't have to do a pre-op diet either. I had surgery in nov 06. I was told not to eat after midnight before surgery. After surgery, 2 weeks liqued-2 weeks pureed- 2 weeks soft. My doc has performed many lap band surgeries. Where r u getting the surgery done and who's your doc?
-
I've been banded since NOv 06. I learned that anything that becomes doughy when eaten hurts or gets stuck. I don't have any problems with toasted breads. Sometimes when band is looser miniscule bits of bread will go down. But you will not care once it gets stuck cause it hurts too much. What I do is order a sandwich and eat the meats n cheese inside. It tastes just fine without the bread cause your body wants the protein anyway. I have been able to get some pastas down just taking tiny bites. Don't worry it's all worth it . good luck , Kelley

That's a terrible feeling to get food stuck. I was at a convention for 3 days. We were in Reno, Nv. The last 2 days i had to hurry to the public restroom about 6 times to get food unstuck. That was terrible to go through. I asked the doc why all of a sudden i had such restriction he said sometimes right before a menstrual cycle it will tighten. Strange but true. Anyway the point was, I know what a pain it is too.

Here's to a new BEGINNING!!!

Lee , The bright side is your starting the process. I was self pay in mexico so i didn't have to do any waiting or even dieting before surgery. I didn't have the patience for the long insurance process, plus to even be considered i would have had to gain 20 more pounds. Keep the faith it's worth it. Kelley -
I don't have any info on Ok docs, but i remember hearing about a site or phone numbers to call on this site. Did u deal with Veronica, DeLaGarza's assistant? She set me up with my fill doctor and also gave me a list of surrounding cities and the fill docs in each city. I have Veronica's e-mail if u don't. What a great idea to get the band done with a friend........supporting each other. Talk 2 u soon , Kelley

Here's to a new BEGINNING!!!

HI Lee, just wanted to say hey. I just got back from a convention in Reno. I went from Mexico where it was 85 degrees to freezing reno nv. where it was 25degrees. I canceled my fill appt today cause the last 3 days i couldn't get anything solid down. I wonder if altitude has anything to do with tightness of the band. I don't know, it's weird cause now i'm home and I feel like i can eat anything again. Talk to you later, Kelley -
Hi Marys, I feel my weight loss is stalled too. I've lost only 12 to 14 lbs since nov 10 06. But i haven't exercised so thats my next phase i guess. It's hard to loss over 40 I believe that. All I know is we cant give up, the band works we just have to figure out our own personal system.

Thanks Angela. Boy did i speak to soon about my band,. It is hard for me to eat anything solid right now. I can't eat any rice or bread at all. OUCH it hurts when it gets stuck . I 'm just learning what will or won't work for me. I'm going on a 7 day carnival cruise , so the food will be a challenge. Oh well, I want to lose weight and this will be a good way . Bye for now, Kelley

Hey Lee nice support system u had, i guess thats why she's an ex wife. I had my fill yesterday and it went real tight this afternoon and evening. It's weird learning how this thing works. Sometimes its tight sometimes its not. It's somewhat painful to learn what u can and can't eat . Oh well, live and learn. Sunday i go on a 7 day mexi cruise a group of us. I'm gonna miss LBT while I'm gone. Bye for now, Kelley -
So what's a good chewable vitamin? BUMMER about flintstones. I just had my 2nd fill yesterday. I don't feel much more restriction yet. I think the docs do baby steps with us so we get used to it. I'm glad because i forget sometimes and if i had total restriction i probably would have choked to death. I have to mentally be aware when i eat now, before i was automatic pilot when i ate. I have to slow way down and i still struggle with drinking at the same time as eating. That's hard for me to break.

Here's to a new BEGINNING!!!

Yep Lee, You need to continue down this path. I think you are the only one in your family thats not in denial. One of the things that woke me up was someone asked me how many morbidly obese men and women do you know in their 60's. Not many. We only live this life once , why not make the most of it and stick around longer. Who knows Lee, maybe one of your brothers will wake up and come around when they see it can be done. Be the guina pig and tell them if you do it they can too. My husband is morbidly obese and i absolutely hate it. I'm doing something about my weight but he doesn't want to do anything about his. It really bugs me, but i'm gonna try to persuade him ..... any ideas let me know -

I also had my friends and family try to talk me out of it. I planned it and just did it . Hang out with the people who will support you. What until after the surgery.......questions all the time. Are you suppose to be eating that or how much weight have you lost etc. don't worry we will be here for you Kelley -
I need to lose 80 lbs. I've only lost 14 lbs since my nov. 10 surgery. I'm happy with that. Slow but sure is much healthier. My dad had gastric bypass and ended up very sickly. My husband is overweight and I want him to get the band too. He doesn't want anything to do with it. I can't stand being overweight and me losing weight and him not will be hard. Any ideas how to get him to want to lose.?

Way to go Denise!! You are already over 1/4 of the way there.....congrats

prbrooksie, I don't have a success story but when i do I'm there on your thread.

Self payer! But my insurance covers fills!
kjojojr replied to BrwnEydGrl82's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the info. I'm self pay and i go get my 2nd fill in two days. I'm going to try my insurance . I have blue cross, that would be so awesome if they would cover it......... doubtful but worth a try. Thanks Kelley -
Congats, prbrooksie on your weight loss. I think i gained a couple of pounds back cause of my grazing. I go for my 2nd fill in a couple of days. Sometimes i feel restriction and sometimes i feel no restriction. So does that mean the band tightens up and becomes looser at times? Seems like it.

I don't think the citric acid is bad, cause we are encouraged to drink fruit juices. I keep grazing too. I think that could be my down fall. I gotta just toss the sweets that are still hanging around the house. I see the coconut caramel macaroons from costco and i just grab them. This is what LBT is all about. This site keeps me in lap band mode, reality check. I'm self pay and I read all of your posts and think what the heck am i doing. It will keep me on the straight and narrow.

Newbie here - Don't know what I'm doing
kjojojr replied to texasgrannycat's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Cathy, I went back to work after a week. I was still a little sore and moved a little slower. Wasn't unbearable tho. -
Well, I'll give you my situation and what i did, i was banded nov 10 06. Right after surgery, I had intense chest pains, kinda scared me. But after I was told it was the gas that the doc uses during surgery i understood. Walking around helped me get rid of the gas and gas meds. The incisions are sore but wasn't unbearable. I didn't have much of an appetite after surgery so all you really want is juice or broth. Which is good cause that's all u get. It was painful to sleep on my sides the first week, flat on my back was the most comfortable. When I made my move from liqueds to mushies, I went to cream of wheat and creamed soups. They filled me up pretty good. I don't mind answering more questions but remember not everyone is the same. Good luck and Happy New Life in 2007 Yahoo
