I went to Monterrey in Nov 06 for the surgery. I brought a friend who spoke spanish. The nurses in the hospital didn't speak any english so bring a translation book if u don't speak spanish. All the docs and patient coordinators spoke perfect english tho. Wear comfy clothes. We went a day early and spent the night in a hotel. It's a great city to check out. Keep us posted. Kelley

    November Bandsters!

Do u Like Cosmos? Those go down really good and you only need a few. Try it u might like it. I liked beer and on occasion, i can down a few. But I try to stay away cause I don't want to mess up the band. So since the band I do the cosmos and haven't had any problems (yet). Have to say (yet) it;) 's the jinx thing.

I had my surgery in Monterrey Mexico by Dr Javier De La Garza. I would do it all again there if I had to. Check out his credentials online. My surgery cost me 8750 including 2 nights in a hotel and 1 night in the hospital plus airfare. Just so you know, u do have other options.....Good Luck to you and remember it's gonna chance your life for the better.

    November Bandsters!

Hi Nov. Bandsters, Seems like everyone is doing pretty good. Betsyjane, I do the protein drinks, they work for me. They take the hungry edge off and I can go for a few more hours until eating time again. Congats to all the new leg crossers out there. It's an awesome feeling to lose and even tho it's a pain (literally) to eat it's well worth it....sliming and all.

I want this in my past

Congatulations on your new chapter in life. I had my surgery in Monterrey also. Mine was in Nov. 06. Do you speak spanish? I took a friend with me , she speaks spanish. It's a great city. What Hospital? The people are very nice but speak little or no english. I would go back 2 monterrey and do it again if I had to. The hospital was very clean and professional. Keep us posted. Take Care, Kelley

It gets easier a week to 10 days, at least for me. Don't worry it doesn't stay uncomfortable for long. Hang in there and get rest. 3 days post op is still real fresh out of surgery. Big changes ahead for you. Congrats on becoming a bandster. Keep us posted. Take it easy, Kelley

Thanks Kat, Yeah I know your right. The friends that really know who I am will still be there.....the others oh well. My DH is another thing. Our relationship hasn't been the best for along time. I think I'm just making excuses to get out of my marriage. And that was one of them. Whatever happens , I will deal with it. I've been single before and if it happens again I will survive. On the other hand, I did buy 2 of Dr laura books on marriage for both of us. Kat... Size 14 too big!?? Yahoo for U I haven't dropped down a size yet, but congats to u . Keep it up U LOSER(in a good way) Take Care, Kelley

    November Bandsters!

Alright Angela, You are doing so great. I can't wait to get into the 190's. Should be next month for me. And why do u need a fill?? It works ,finally something works for all of us. Some slower than others but at least we are going down and not up. Congatulations again , Take care, Kelley:scared:
  17. I ate or (drank really) campbell's soup cream of mushroom, cream of broccoli, cream of celery, just take out the chunks if you feel them in your mouth. It really satisfied me. I drank V8 alot to feel me up too. During this phase i had to pick up fast food for my daughter once and the smell just drove me crazy. I went to the next fast food and ordered nachos and sucked on the chips to get the cheese one time. Tell me that wasn't desperate. Hang in there it does get much better. I can eat dinner basically anything i want. Breakfast and lunch is limited tho. Seems like the band loosens up at night. I can't eat biscuits, tortillas, and rolls. I can eat toast in little bits tho. It's worth it . Hang in there. Let me know if you have more questions, k? Take Care, Kelley

That blows me away. My friend said that would happen but I didn't even realize so called friends would do that. Jealousy is a huge insecure emotion. Sorry about your marriage. My problem is my husband has gained so much weight since we've been married. I've asked him to do the band too. He won't. I'm afraid I won't be able to stand him being so obese and i won't be anymore. It sounds so superficial but i did the band cause i couldn't stand myself.........well time will tell:nervous Take Care, kelley

Hi Josette, welcome aboard:D . This is a great site. You've done amazing on your weight loss. I was banded in nov. 06 . I would do it again if i had to. Bummer about the band slipping. Tell me, did u lose certain friends after u lost all that weight? Or did u feel people were kinda snide and hurtful towards u. A friend of mine warned me that once i lose my weight certain people will be mean. Just wondering if u came across that. You are an inspiration:clap2: take care, Kelley
  22. Hey Guys, I was banded in Nov 06. Hang in there it's only temporary. I can sleep on either side now. Gotta admit, the diet while your stomach is healing was the hardest part of the surgery. Be creative during this phase. Cream soups and tomato soup was my life savers. I went through the soft foods phase over the holidays. Tell me that didn't suck. I can eat most anything now except biscuits soft breads and tortillas. Don't sweat it it's so worth it...Good Luck, Kelley

    Traveling with the band?

I travel alot. Sometimes we do fast food and it's a struggle but manageable. I've ordered chicken sandwichs and cut it up with a fork but definately no bun. I've also done Arby's and just eat the meat. Fries go down easily for me so I make sure I order a sandwich and bottled water NO FRIES. I also snack on cashews but yep the calories add up, so not alot. It's much easier to go to a real sit down restaurant and get something decent then struggle with choices at fast food. You can do it. Take care, Kelley

    Here's to a new BEGINNING!!!

Man, that sucks! I have a friend that I work with thats been trying to get approved. She's been struggling all her life with being overweight. She has done all the different diets and like all of us gained it all back plus. She was denied and is trying to appeal. They are all cracking down and getting more restrictive. I feel bad cause she is a perfect canidate and insurance is just screwing with her... Don't give up Lee. Perseverance and patience is a must with this medical system.

    November Bandsters!

Conrats Tom, Way to go! It's an awesome feeling to actual lose weight instead of steadily gaining. That's why I'm not too stressed about losing slowly. I'm still losing. I'm such a loser, your such a loser, we all are such losers:clap2: Kelley
