Possibly too tight, question
BeachBabe replied to Cangel76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find that I get stuck with the first meal of the day the most. YOu may want to eat a bite, chew well, and wait a minute for it to hit your stomach and see if it sticks. If it does then just sit for a minute and it will go through the band eventually. After a few bites it will go down easier and get less stuck. I have 8 cc's in my band and am just right. -
I think the key reason to keep up on protein shakes is because protien takes hunger away and keeps the body going longer than other foods. If you do not like protein shakes you can drink the fruit juice mixes or soups. I know that I would lose more weight if I upped my protien. I need to focus this week and see how it works for me. I need the extra discipline sometimes!

band feels tighter different times of the day
BeachBabe replied to icequeen813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am tighter in the morning than I am in the late afternoon. I can not eat out much since it can be quite an ordeal when I get stuck! -
Alcohol is my achellies heel. I love it and love wine in the evening. I know I would be losing weight much faster if I stayed away from it. It is high in caolries and it makes me snack more. ARGH!!!

I am finally filled to a good restriction point and no longer can eat what I want like I could the first 4 months. I am at 8 ccs and can't eat breads or most meats. I get stuck very easy and have to chew a lot. I am very happy and hope to lose weight faster now. It has been difficult to this point to limit my food intake and to not eat what I wanted when physically I could. I was never good on diets.

Resorting to Sliders....
BeachBabe replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got the fill that made me tip over the edge. I am THRILLED!!!! I now can not eat everything and have major restriction at 8 cc's. I do PB and vomit at times but am learning how to eat small portions and chew, chew, chew. I hope this puts me over the edge. This is why I got the band in the first place!!! -
7.5cc's and still no restriction!
BeachBabe replied to Melly26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great thread for me!!! I was banded in August, Lost 15 pounds immediately, then have only lost 10 pounds since. I have only lost 25 pounds in the past 4 months. I started at 205 pounds and am 5 "8. I had 7 ccs in my band last week. I could eat almost everything!I would not have seconds though so that was good. I just got a fill last week of 1 cc and lost 3 pounds immediately, even after a huge party I had. I am sooooo restricted that I can not eat during the day and can eat a small amount at night. I am so happy that I am finally here. I felt so bad for being able to eat so much before my most recent fill. You are almost there. Trust me!!! -
have any of you wished you did gastric bypass instead
BeachBabe replied to racheyrach's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How in the world can you go from having gastric bypass to having a band? What is left to band? No stomach right? Anyway, My husband who is in the medical device industry told me no on getting the verticle sleeve. He felt that you can always reverse a band but not a sleeve. I am upset that my port tipped without me doing anything outside of a normal way of living and now if I want it fixed I have to pay another $2k. I am not sold that it is even my problem since it has been tipped since the day I could feel my port without being in post op pain. -
Yep, mine is tilted a lot. I only feel one edge and not the whole thing. I had a sneaking suspicion that a stitch had ripped since it felt odd. When I went in for my first fill my doctor freaked out and said it was majorly tilted. He had to feel around and poked me 3 times to get the fill done. He said this was a first for him. I was not a happy camper. He said to let it stay since he can fill and if it becomes uncomfortable or moves then I can have revision surgery.

What about Booze after a LapBand?
BeachBabe replied to BobBigBoy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always been a big drinker. I peretty much stopped for the first 4 weeks. I now have drinks now and then but not as much. I am counting my calories and have found that alcohol really screws up my count and makes my weight loss slower. I am glad since I was a real drinker before the surgery. I feel good losing weight and now the desire to be thin is more than my need of alcohol. Long story short, booze does not seem to do much to your stomach. It does make me want to eat more though. -
eek. You should feel it. Call your doctor.

Does it really make you feel full?
BeachBabe replied to BobBigBoy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel full on a small amount and when I eat a lot of protien I really feel fulfilled. Limiting carbs has helped my need to lick the plate (and everyone elses) like I did before. -
I love quinoa but have not eaten it since I was banded. Here is how I prepare it In one pan I sautee one diced yellow onion, one diced red bell pepper, 5 pressed cloves of garlic, and one polska kielbassa cubed into small poeces. I set this aside and add this mix once the quinoa is ready. In the other pan I put the quinoa, 2 cans of chicken broth, and some Water and cook until it is ready. I also make quinoa as a side to mexican food and sautee corn, yellow onion, and garlic and set aside. I cook the quinoa with a can of chicken broth, a jar of salsa, and water as needed. Once that is cooked I add the corn/onion sautee to the quinoa and voila. Again, I have not eaten this since it is a carb since I was banded but it sure is good!
