August Rush in bandland!
BeachBabe replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on my 7th day post op right now. I am not hungry. My doctor makes me drink 64 oz of fluid and 70 grams of protien a day and my calorie intake is abut 400-500 a day if I follow my protien count. The protien keeps me very full and gives me enough energy to get through my day. I am also taking my vitamins daily. I think the key to staying not hungry is to drink the high protien drinks. I have shakes, fruit flavored drinks, and protien broth every day. This is coming from a girl that LOVES food. Yesterday was 100 degrees and I sure did want a margarita and chips and guacamole. Regarding the want for more hospital time, I paid in cash so I know how expensive the hospital is to stay at. If I spent the night it would have been an additional $4000 per day on top of my initial $6500 hospital fee for the first day. Your insurance probably does not want to encourage extended stays if it is not necessary. You may have wanted to stay but was it medically necessary? -
would you have surgery if you had an infection?
BeachBabe replied to jigglebutt1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Reschedule the surgery!! THe hospital documents I got said you had to be cold free and fever free for 2 weeks before surgery. They say you can get Pneumonia if you have a surgery when you are sick and that is what leads to many deaths every year. It is important to get reputable medical advice and not opinions. This was very clear in my surgery paperwork from the hospital. If you get sick and have your band surgery you will be miserable. It is hard enough to be healthy and recover from the lap band surgery. -
Liquid Tylenol and Liquid Advil where do you buy it???
BeachBabe replied to losethemess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By the way, I was told several times that band patients can not take advil post op since it thins the blood and contributes to ulcers in band patients. Tylenol is OK. -
What if i never what up?
BeachBabe replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was worried too but when I looked at the statistics on the internet for problems during surgery the likelihood was so small that I stopped worrying. It happens very fast and you should not worry because it is out of your hands now that you have made the decision. It was suprisingly easy and quick. -
My days 1 through 4.

I got banded on the 19th (maybe one day after you?). You sound exactally like I do. I am glad to hear you are doing and feeling the same things. I noticed redness around 3 of my incision sites this morning so I am now on liquid antibiotics to be sure I do not get an infection. I feel very gassy and bloated right now and feel air under my rib cage. I hope the air they pumped into me for the surgery goes away soon. It is really uncomfortable and I feel 9 months pregnant in so many ways!!!! -
I had my surgery on the 19th (3 days ago) and I drove today. I did not take my pain meds today so when I came home I really was uncomfortable and could not wait to take them.

I just got banded on August 19th. I am in my third day of recovery and feeling pretty good.I finally left the house and worked for an hour and could not wait to get home so I could take my pain medication. I am beginning to feel all of the odd stuff in my stomach. Had to get meds from doctor today since my incision site was red and I was worrid it would get infected. I am getting all of my protien and liquids in. I am on a 3 weekliquid only diet but I have many flavors of drinks and soups that I am happy with. I hope the bloating goes down soon and the gas goes away. I am not hungry yet.

Looking for September 2010 Bandsters
BeachBabe replied to CSinTX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BMI was only 31 but I decided to get banded anyway and stop hating the way I looked. I paid cash for the surgery and just had it done 2 days ago. Looking forward to seeing that cash make a positive difference in the way I feel. -
Greetings, This is my first post. I just got banded on 8-19-10 and have been taking it easy in bed and walking around as much as I can. My doctor was wonderful (Dr. Cirangle in SF). I had a quick and tidy surgery and was out 6 hours post-op. I was given liquid Vicoden and another pain medication that comes in tiny baby sized pills and it has really helped with the pain management. I sure do feel gassy though! Were you given any protien Soup broth or protien thin drink mixes? I am getting 60 grams of protien a day and 60-70 oz. of Fluid. My doctor does not allow soft foods or yourt until the 3rd week so it is just protien drinks and broths for me right now but I am not hungry at all. I can't wait to see the weight come off!!!
