Today is a new day! YOu can always fix what you have done wrong. You should go back t doing a protien diet for a week (shakes and broths) and lose the 7 pounds and start not allowing yourself carbs. Go back to the basics. It is great you admitted to cheating and you are half way there to feel better. Now focus and don't let yourself give excuses about work. Keep your chin up and move on!!:cursing:

I now burp when I am talking a lot. It is embarrasing. I think my stomach is so small now that the air gets trapped I get full of air as I talk.

How long after surgery did you see yout doctor?
BeachBabe replied to dreamskin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you should see your doctor 2-3 weeks post op. Not longer! -
Ice cream is liquid carbs and calories and totally goes against what the whole point of the surgery is. YOu will not lose weight if you are letting ice cream go down. Remember just because you can does not mean you should. Stick to the plan yor nutritionist sets for you. Change your eating habits because you and the band need to work together.

Anyone take a taxi home from surgery?
BeachBabe replied to bayareanan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hospital said absolutely no taking a taxi home. They insist on a responsible adult to take you home. Don't you have anyone at all? You should be OK enough to take one but it is not cool to put that responsibility on the cab driver just in case you are not feeling OK. I wanted to take on due to child care issues but instad changed the time of my surgery and had my husband pick me up. -
Do I Qualify? Planning to look for lapband in Singapore
BeachBabe replied to kuchink's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not think that anyone on this board is here to "cheat the system" or using "unethical doctors". We are all overweight, unhealthy, and have found ourselves incredibly unhappy with our situation. It is not a good idea to cast stones at people trying to make themselves happy and healthy. My doctor is part of a very large, ethical, and successful practice in SF. Not some seedy back door establishment. His record and liscense are clean as a whistle. Banding someone with a BMI less than 35 is not illegal as you state that it is nor is it unethical. The manufactururs make guidelines but are no way stating that you can't band a fat girl that is a size 18 and is obese but not technically morbidly obese. I paid cash and cheated nobody nor did anything unethical. Perhaps nobody measured me since I paid cash and was not using my insurance? My PCP did not do a pre-op measurement either when he cleared me for the operation. Many people on this site are with a BMI pre-surgery lower than the reccomended BMI on the Lap Band and have good doctors and good intentions. -
Oh my goodness do not go back to work the next day!!!! You need to lay down for several days post surgery. YOu need at least 3 days post surgery. Can you change your surgery to a thursday, take Friday off, and then you have the weekend?

I gained 3 pounds post surgery. I felt like I ws 9 months pregnant. Don't weigh yourself until you feel less bloated otherwise you will feel bad. You will know when it is time to weigh yourself. I think I wated for 5 days to weigh myself after I was devistated by the weight gain. I am 10 days post op and I have lost the blat weight plus anpother 10 pounds. I was getting headaches at the beginning too but I found that I needed more liquid. I drank a ton and it made my headaches go away....even on pain medication.

did you eat during your pre op diet and still "get" to have surgery?
BeachBabe replied to swissnis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was lucky and was not put on a pre-op diet due to a lower BMI. I ate like a pig up until the day before my surgery and ate all of my favorite carb foods and wine!!! Now I am dedicated to my liquid diet now that I am 10 days post-op. How much weight did your doctor ask you to lose? You should stick to your diet but have a "last supper" the day before you have to cleanse for the surgery. -
You should have your loved one go to the local GNC and get protien juices. They have many flavors of the high protien no carb juice that you can drink and it keeps you full. I also love my high protien hot cocoa in lieu of coffee in the morning. I start the day with 15 grams of protien and get a little more pep than something without the protien.

Do I Qualify? Planning to look for lapband in Singapore
BeachBabe replied to kuchink's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are paying cash you are likely to find a surgeon. I had a BMI of 30 and my doctor was totally on board and never said I was too small for the band. I was banded 10 days ago. If you lie and say you are 5 foot 1 yor BMI will be up to 30 which is considered Obese. I am 5 foot 9 but said I was 5 foot 8 to change my BMI. Nobody checks your height. They just chec your weight. -
Psych Appointment???
BeachBabe replied to doodlebug54's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was on the phone for 1 1/2 hours. He asked about any depression past or present, thoughts of suicide, addictions past and present, food issues, how you think the surgery will change your life, etc.... It was easy and I think they want to be sure you have family or loved ones that will support you and not feel jealous when you lose the weight and that you are not some crazy loon that has deeper issues than being in love with food. -
Thanks. I am feeling decent but still a bit sore and weak from a lack of food!!! How much have you lost so far? I have lost 9 pounds.

Anything besides milk of magnesia?
BeachBabe replied to Kristy29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drank a bottle of Calcium Citrate before my surgery. It has a lemon flavor. You can get it neat the laxatives in any major grocery or RX chain. It was not terrible. It does have some bubbles in it so it may not be easy to drink but it sure does the trick and tastes decent. -
Stuck and Sliming in the Morning but not at Night ?
BeachBabe replied to hotsexyrunnerchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was thinking the same thing. What the heck is sliming?? -
It's beginning to show
BeachBabe replied to shelley1057's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How wonderful to have your hard work start to show. I am sure it will help you through the next phase of weight loss now that you are more motivated and seeing the results. Keep it up and you will keep feeling better and better about yourself. I had my surgery 8 days ago and have lost 9 pounds. Hopefully in about 10 more pounds people will start noticing!! It is sooooo hard to keep to still just drinking the protien fluids and take vitamins and nothing else. -
That does not sound normal. I had my surgery 8 days ago and was able to keep down fluids and did not vomit. YOur doctor should have given you a prescription to stop the nausea. You need plenty of fluid to survive and not get more ill. You need to contact someone. Try to get fluid down ASAP.

I have been building up my stamina daily. I am up to working 6 hour and feeling OK although I crash when I get home. I am shakey all day and feel highs and lows. I can not imagine working a 12 hour shift right now. I would suggest trying to gradually work more and more each day to build up your stamina. It seems to be working for me. I still feel weak though. Do you also have the protien Fruit drinks that taste like crystal light? I carry them around with me everywhere and drink from a bottle with the protien fruit drink all day long.

You can not expect the band to do do everything for you. It is important to get into a new mind set and change your eating habits and not push yourself to the limits. You spent a lot of money on this surgery and it is important to look at the liquid diet as a cleanse. It erases the bad habits from your mind and puts a fresh outlook on eating. I realize now that I can only live on protien and water and I do not need all of the gross food I ate before. No food tastes as good as skinny feels!!!!!

August Rush in bandland!
BeachBabe replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor says 3 weeks of fluids only and two of mushies after that and then regular food. I am on my 9th day of fluid. I am doing well and making sure I get 70 grams of protien and no sugar or carbs. I have lost 1 pond a day so far. -
Are You Telling People?
BeachBabe replied to danide's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my husband is the only one who knows I have had the surgery. My kids are too small. I prefer for people to not look at me differently or talk. -
August Rush in bandland!
BeachBabe replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you have laproscopic surgery the doctor pumps your chest full of gas so they can see better. What you are feeling is gas that has nowhere to go. After about a week it will go away. There is a lot of pumped gas from the surgery floating around. You will start to hurt with air bubbles under your rib cage and possibly to your shouldsers when you stand up and the gas rises. -
What did I do wrong?
BeachBabe replied to MediaGurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor in SF is one of the largest bariatric groups in the nation and they have done over 4000 lap band surgeries not to mention gastoric bypass surgeries. They tell their patients you absolutely have to stay on liquid for 3 weeks. There may be a reason for this based on other patients that have had your experience. You may not be ready for solids. I got my surgery 6 days ago and can not imagine eating anything since I am still swollen and have a lot of discomfort. IT is better to get out of the bad habits that got us all overweight in the first place and get into a new mindset. My doctor said the way you eat in the first 3-4 weeks is going t be an indicator of how you will succeed in the long term with this diet/surgery.
