Hello Stephanie!!! Welcome to the Minnesota forum. As all Minnesotan's do I will tell you about the weather!!! Today it is 25 degrees and we finally got some snow. Only two inches so far- not enough to drive our snowmobiles on - we are bummed. Banded in Decenber- good for you. Looks like you are doing well. acdsmitte 06/22/06 288/222/175

Tigerlily, enjoy your Christamas and dream of being thin! It will happen. Jan 07. Do you have pre op dietician and psychologist to see yet? The lap band helps limit volume but we still control what goes in the mouth!!!!

Surgery postponed, doctor called in sick
acdsmitte replied to spencd1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just found the website this week... I was banded in June.. down 50 lbs. Best thing I ever did. I think the hardest part was the pre op diet. How much time are you taking off? I had surgery on a Thursday and was back at work Monday. I had told no one at work and no one noticed. I really liked that I could do this as an outpatient. I choose tylenol grape chewables for pain management and for Friday Sat Sunday I took that every four hours while awake. I was much better by Monday. One does have gas pain that walking and moving around helped alot with. Just lying around makes gas pain worse. Only 2 more days. You can do it. -
Surgery postponed, doctor called in sick

Since I work in health care, My thoughts are thank God your surgeon had sense enough to call in sick. Just think if he/she got the dry heaves and slipped with the scapel in hand. A saturday surgery is going to be expensive for him-- saturday time in the operating room for a non emergency case. This place is really trying to be accomadating. As a fellow bandster, damm! you are both physically and phsycologically ready at this point, took the time off work well,it sucks. Have positive thoughts about your surgeon and the people who are working on Saturday!!! Good Luck! -
Thanks for the support! Holidays are rough! I go to work and find treats everywhere. Behind me Satan! Depression and holidays seem to go hand in hand. It is so important to know this and work at keeping busy, exercising and if needed take the medication. My biggest problem has always been my weight. I tried a few meds to help lose weight but all I got was a headache and no weight loss. Christa, husbands are so afraid we will lose the weight and leave them. I was naughty and did not tell mine about my banding. I have 3 herniated discs and just told him I needed to lose weight to decrease the pain. So I told him I was on a diet and choose to eat smaller portions. ( Thanks to the band I finally can eat smaller portions!) When I need to feel like I have lost weight I go and try on clothes and love to take the size that did not fit in June. Down from size 28 to 20.

Hi! I was banded by Dr F in Long Prairie. Everything went well. In and out in 6 hours. I have not told my family yet, since it was all about me and I did not want to hear no for an answer. My girlfriend and I went to a "seminar" and would have stayed over nite if needed. Your posts are interesting. It took me a long time to get this help. I know 7 people personally who have had the RNY. All have anemia isues. All need the monthly injection of B12. 3 have put the weight back on and are just about to their starting weight. No one will redo it for them. It is about portion control and we can get gentle reminders with a fill. I just think it is a good way to get some help. I have 3 herniated discs and feel so much better, fifty pounds lighter. I went to my first meeting March 28th and was able to see the dietician and psychologist by May. I had my procedure June 22nd. I was really honest with the psychologist about my eating habits and she really helped me see what was happening. One does morn the ability to eat, especially if it was a stress reducer as my overeating is. I just have a limit now. Exercise is really important to start. I found I feel better after exercise than I ever do after eating. My family just sees me eating less and more healthy. I did notice that the nurse on my first weigh in was not real excited and I expected more from her but, I was happy to be losing and did not think about it until I noticed the comment on the board. I have battled weight all my life. I have 6 sizes of clothing in my closet. I am giving my "big" clothes away this time. I am never going to wear them again. I am also to the smallest size in my closet and in 20 lbs I will need a whole new wardrobe. Yea!!!!:clap2: starting weight 288 last fill (10/19/06) 238 Goal 160 50 down 78 to go!:whoo:

Hello, I am new to the forum, but was banded in June in MN. I just learned something from all of you about reabsorption of saline--- I thought that I was just stretching things out--- I was told I have the "big band" it sounds like the 10cc one? I really don't know how much I have in mine... I will have to ask next time. It is so nice to have help with the portion control.... I really like my band. Thanks for being here. Can I join you?:nervous acdsmitte 5' 6'' pre 295 surgery day 288 last fill 238 (10/19/06)
