How often do you go to the gym?

Try the site www.exrx.net Gives you exercises of all body parts and other routines. I swear by it and give my patients this website address. I like to do arms, chest and back on same day to get a nice complete upper body workout and to get that extra stabilization, use free weights. Oh, and try the row machine, love love love -
same with what Lara said. I started my period 2 days after surgery. surgery can bring on a period. blood in stool is scary. glad you called your doc and I hope that everything turns out well for you and it's nothing major. sometimes it can be from strain or a tear near anus. much luck to you

Just started soft foods...is this normal?
Bryn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Started soft foods yesterday. So far I've had Soup, eggs, corned beef hash, refried Beans and yogurt. All have tasted wonderful and have settled and given me no problems Getting use to portion sizes now isn't a problem for me, because mentally i look at them when i put them on my appetizer plate and see a TON of food. Weird how my mind is catching up to the sleeve idea. I love it. Thing is, I still cannot eat whatever i put on my plate; as in i don't finish it. Only thing i was able to finish was 2 oz of greek yogurt yesterday morning. Today i plated one large egg, and 1/4 cup corned beef hash and finished about 1/4 of each. Now I cannot sense a full feeling, nor restriction (which i don't expect yet at this stage), but i do feel "satisfied" i suppose. Or maybe i feel the same way before i started eating, which is not hungry. Haven't been hungry since surgery, just have cravings, but they go away when i drink Water. When i do start eating, i feel a grumbling in my tummy; like it's trying to break down food, not a hunger grumbling. I realize that when i eat, i tend to burp once, and that's generally my cue that "ok, you've eaten enough, don't push it". and i just push the plate away. is all of this "normal" for just being on second day of soft foods? -

yay! glad others experience this as well. I feel much more at ease. thanks -
Yep they will make you remove them. God forbid if anything were to happen and they needed to work on your chest, the piercings would interfere. This isnas far as I know. Hospital even made sure I had no metal in my scrunchie and no hair clips

Love love love cheese chips. Made them pre-op, and mainly for potlucks at work for tuna/chicken salad bowls

Did you have to have at least a 50 BMI for VSG?
Bryn replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For my insurance, you needed at least a BMI of 40, and if it were less, you needed co-morbidities. -

How did you feel the first 2 weeks after you were sleeved?
Bryn replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 weeks and 1 day post op and i feel great. I'm sleeping easy, getting around fine, no pain except i have some muscular discomfort on right side, but it's just sore and not constant. Started mushies today and i have no nausea, settles well etc. I go back to work this upcoming monday and i cannot be more thrilled!! i'm so bored here at home -
I am pretty sure all of them lost the weight naturally, w/o surgery. I don't think she would have people on her show whom had surgical interventions if she hasn't.

I wish I had a food funeral lol It's as if I almost regret not having some of my favorite foods. I wish I had my favorite Pasta dish, pizza, burrito bowl from Chipotle and other favorite mexican dishes that I LOVE!!!! But I was too busy to even attempt to grab something and eat. I think it's a good "goodbye" if you will, nothing wrong with that, but don't go too crazy

the process to being approved is a long one in my opinion. Your insurance company has their requirements, and the doctor has their requirements. My doctor required more testing than my insurance, so I found myself rip-running from facility to facility to get tested/examined. On my second appt. with the surgeon, she gave me a date w/o being approved. They do this to keep their schedule in tact with their patients schedule. she also knew the way insurance companies worked and said i would most likely get approved. I knew 2 months before when my surgery date was. i wouldn't fret, sometimes people get their date and their surgery is two weeks after getting approved, so that's a blessing as well. much luck to you in your journey

my nut and doctor said it's not out of my life forever, but that it doesn't need to be diet, it just needs to be a bit flat before drinking it. Funny thing is, I always drank a tad bit flat sodas before the surgery because the carbonation hit me so hard, i'd get hiccups and burps all the time, so i would let it sit out for an hour or so. Or would choose low carbonation sodas (at least they felt that way to me: light colored sodas). although nutritionist said i should wait a good 6 months before i start incorporating it in my diet and in moderation. I can honestly say that two weeks after the surgery, i have no craving for soda. I would like to not incorporate it back into my diet, so i'm gonna try my hardest to not drink it.

My Gastric Sleeve Journey What A Nightmare
Bryn replied to gabi74's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so sorry Gabrielle. But thank you for sharing your story so others who are beginning their journey as well know just how serious this surgery is and the risks that are associated. I'm sorry you had to go through this, sounds like a complete nightmare. I truly hope you come out of this 100% and can live a completely healthy life. I had a patient (who happened to be a physician) go through with the surgery and experienced the same thing you did. Was quite amazing to see how motivated he was to want to get through it. Please stay positive, and you and your family will be in my thoughts. -
I'm 25 yrs old. Almost two weeks out from surgery. I had acne when I was a teen, but nothing horrible, just here and there. Then it subsided, no acne for years. Now that I've had surgery, I've realized my face breaking out Again, it's not horrible, but I'm not a fan. Has this happened to anyone else, could it be hormonal? If this keeps up for the next couple months, I will be seeing my dermatologist (if OTC products do not work). Thanks

I am just surprised your surgeon never warned you of the risks associated with cheating or going outside your diet parameters. I start my mushy stage Wednesday but may hold off for a few more days to give my tummy more time to heal. Would drive me crazy if I had a leak or something else. Much luck to you,

A week from my scheduled date and the office changes my date and surgeon pushes lap band!
Bryn replied to christiemon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I don't understand how a surgeon offers the VSG, but then will not perform it. To me it seems as if he can't get the specialist in and he isn't confident in his ability to perform the sleeve. If I were you, i would get my money back, ask for your medical records and move to a different surgeon who is willing to perform the sleeve on you. -
I was able to drive whenever I was no longer taking pain meds. I stopped taking pain meds 2 days after surgery (because I didn't find the meds to be helping and I was almost pain free). Had surgery Tuesday, drove that saturday

Congrats!

I think it depends on what the surgeon wants/feels is necessary. I had mine removed before I left the hospital, some have it in for a week or so at home, and some folks have no drain

What are you thankful for after WLS?
Bryn replied to Suzannesh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm only a little bit more than a week out, but I am thankful for: -the opportunity to have WLS and that this particular procedure is out there for folks like myself -thankful for my wonderful surgeon and her staff -thankful for the support of the people that I have told about my WLS and my journey -and I'm so very thankful for the opportunity to begin living a full life. I look forward to doing fun and exciting thins such as kayaking, hiking, white Water rafting, having kids!!!, trying on pretty clothes etc. I can't wait to be healthier -
I was drinking the low carb slim fast shakes early on in my journey and during pre-op stage. they are good and are tolerable. i would put them in a blender with ice to make it shake like. only thing i didn't like is that i had to order them online. there aren't any stores here that carry the low carb type.

Man, I love Lobster Bisque!! that does sound so good I am so jealous of those who get to have pureed Soups on their full liquid diets. My doctors idea of a full liquid diet is broth, Protein drink, milk and any drink less than 5 calories but only 5 more days!!!
